Was hoping he was gone in the offseason, but maybe he'll be gone soon enough. Easier to replace him than DJ or Trent at this point, not that I'm advocating either.

Alex Rios has turned into a $10-million embarrassment for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Never mind that he plays the outfield with a not-so-reckless indifference. Never mind that he has taken his five-tool gifts and squandered them with his lack of passion and apathy. Never mind that the hitting numbers aren't anywhere near where they are supposed to be.

All that pales when compared with his foolish act of the other night, exchanging swear words with a fan after turning down an autograph request from a kid, at a charity event no less. Available in today's technology for all to see on YouTube.

Whether management will see it this way or not, Rios essentially is done as a Blue Jay. Failing on the field can be accepted. Failing off the field reflects a certain lack of character. All the apologies in the world may not be able to correct that.

Eckstein has been called the least talented player ever to play a critical role on two World Series champions, but he is a guy who will do whatever it takes to win, including in the last few days taking a 97 mph Brian Wilson fastball in the gut (he took another one in the arm last night in the middle of their ninth-inning threat), faking out a baserunner and hanging in on a DP while getting rolled over. Eckstein is the best $850,000 anyone spent this winter.

"When you have a player like that, it becomes contagious," Towers said. "He sets the standard. He's so fricking intense. And he has the best in-game instincts I've ever seen."

Because TO's arrival hasn't been beaten to death enough, the Toronto Sun had this line in one of its columns today:

Question worth pondering: Without the added Rogers-Toronto riches, do the historically cheap Buffalo Bills sign T.O.?

What do you think about the statement? And for those that hated the idea of games up here in Canada, does the thought that it may have brought us TO make you feel any better?

Sportsillustrated posted this from the National Football Post

"What team will take on Michael Vick?...B uffalo is at a crossroads at quarterback. The Bills need Trent Edwards to stay healthy and be the Trent Edwards of the first four weeks of the season. They have an owner who's not afraid to take chances and is willing to do what it takes to win."

http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/91810-teams-that-might-take-vick

Does anyone even think this is a remote possibility? Would he come in as Edwards backup, and if he falters step in?
