Bright spots.....
As we all well know this season has been taxing as a fan, and I am sure as a player. Alot of the other posts lately have done some severe bashing of players, management and coaching. Though it may be difficult lets try and find some bright spots....
Jussi Jokinen... Today on NHL.com (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=506624) "Jokinen's deft shootout skills set him apart" First player in NHL history to reach 25 shoot out goals.
Brandon Sutter.... Without a doubt the Canes' superstar of the future..
Well when I began this post I had really good intentions, but after mentioning these two players I am stumped. I could mention the new jumbotron, and the parking fee didn't go up from $10, but that wasn't my point when starting... any other bright spot input would be helpful...
ARE YOU KIDDING ME....
Looks like the 2009-2010 carolina Hurricanes are gonna ride Cam Wards back right to the basement. He is playing totally ineffective. Against the Blues on Wed. night he faced 17 shots, 4 of which got by him. Sorry I am a total C.Ward fan but enough is enough. Sit him and play Leighton. Nothing more needs to be said! Eric Staal, the man who by alot of Canes' fans has been bequeathed the "c", he against the Blues had a total of 1, yes 1 shot on goal. He had 30 shifts, a total of 23:55 on ice time. Yes lets give our hard working star the "c". ARE YOU KIDDING ME...... there needs to be some kind of shakeup. Bench a few of the "stars" call up some guys from Albany and demonstrate some hunger. Again just blowing some steam, my .02........... and frustrated because I know the Canes' could be a presidents cup team. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Scoring, Staal.. wake up!!
Hurricanes in "Not winning when Eric Staal can't score" shocker. Their offense is tied for 28th in the league. With Toronto. Staal has two goals and no assists in seven games so far this season. Also just read something about Staal being injured and missing practice. SIT HIM OUT, let him heal, they are not winning and being productive with him in the line up. Sit down a game and call up Sutter give a hungry man a shot. How about that shoot out attempt by Staal against Pittsburgh, I think he hit Fleury dead center in the chest. Fairly lame attempt for 8 million a year. I have noticed Staal putting on the hits this season, maybe the reason for the injury???? Rutherford must be pulling the hair out of his head trying to figure this team out. Teams 3 stars thus far.... Ward, Alberts, Kostopoulos, with honorable mention going to.. LaRose, Gleason, Walker. Circling the drain.. Brindamour, Cullen, Corvo. Just my humble opinion of course, and yes I know, like a-holes we all have one.
Consistency
There is none. Come out and put 7 goals on the board on Friday, then get crushed the next night by a score of 5-2. Actually the crushing came in just one period, the third. Maybe there is a condtioning problem. When you have a problem putting together three solid periods of play there is something wrong. This has been a problem in the past. Slack in the first period, slack in the third, three periods make a game. JUST VENTING!!!!!!!!
GO CANES!!!
The Captain
Yes he's tough, yes he's been around alooong time, but is he the leader???? Watching him on the bench nice and quiet during the Boston game was disturbing. The Canes' where getting battered, they needed their leader to step up and show some fire. Sorry I truly am a fan, but what is........ IS!!!! A player like Chad LaRose brings fire and complete passion every time he is on the ice. LaRose brings consistency day in and day out, not even the "A" players do that, and you know who you are... LETS GO CANES'!
