http://www.sbnation.comhttp://www.sbnation.com/users/mckelvin Posts made by mckelvin on SB Nation http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2008/8/5/586975/you-made-me-go-brian mckelvin Tue, 05 Aug 2008 10:02:43 -0000 <p>Brian,</p> <p>The other day you wrote something that got me worked up.&nbsp; That Losman was looking good in practice and Edwards wasn't.&nbsp; You wrote that if Edwards struggles, how long would it be before people started calling for Losman.&nbsp; Well I've watched a lot of Losman's play in the last few years and thought this can't be...He looks good in camp?&nbsp; Well I went.</p> <p>And surprise, he did not look any different...He still would lock in on the first receiver.&nbsp; The defense, even rookies could key in on it on every short throw.&nbsp; He is still good at throwing the long ball, though if the defender jumped the route Losman would throw it anyway.&nbsp; He also stood in the pocket long enough to write a novel because he took too long to make reads, and in turn would have been sacked a silly number of times.&nbsp; And finally Losman still had his patented roll out and spin move, where he gets out of the&nbsp;pocket, then gets confused because the first read was covered.&nbsp; Thus he looks around&nbsp;and a defender is right on top of him and he spins in a complete circle and&nbsp;runs backwards for a sure 15 yd loss.&nbsp; I write patented because no one else does it.&nbsp; (Likely because it is ineffective).&nbsp;</p> <p>Anyway, he looks no better than last year, or the year before that.&nbsp; He still does the same things well and he still does the same things poorly.</p> <p>On the other hand Edwards started out slow too.&nbsp; He threw it behind Lee twice in the first 15 minutes.&nbsp; He also dumped it off to the running back numerous times as well as once throwing it into the ground (possibly on purpose).&nbsp; But as the day wore on he started to throw to his first and second reads.&nbsp; He caught Evans in stride across the middle, he threw a 30 yd bomb out of the endzone to, believe it or not...MARSHAWN.&nbsp; And he was never even close to being dropped by the defense.&nbsp;</p> <p>Obviously I am an Edwards fan and not a Losman fan, but if they pull out Edwards to put Losman back in...for any reason other than injury...it is a mistake.&nbsp; Also to say Losman looks good in camp and Edwards doesn't is a farce.&nbsp; Losman looks good at throwing the long ball in camp.&nbsp; And the long ball is what most people key in on.&nbsp; He still struggles with all other facets of football.</p>
