I’m conflicted here. Ben Gordon has been brilliant, but he’s been maddening as well. I want him back, and I’d be OK if he left. Maybe they should just flip a coin?

To me, Mouthpiece Sports perfectly summarizes the senitments regarding Ben Gordon and the Bulls.

Seems like he'd prefer Paxdorf to open the coffers and pay the man, but that he doesn't expect that to happen:

"It would be nice to say that what we are seeing with the Bulls in this series with the Celtics is a glimpse into the future, what we have to look forward to for years to come.

But unfortunately and realistically, that would be naive. Maybe even stupid. Like I said, sometimes the business of basketball is brutal."

On the suggestion of arjospeh's preview I visited the Bobcats blog Rufus on Fire, only to find this empirical graph of the game last night from the Bulls loss. Interesting to see so much of this is about the Bulls and Gordon, including this bit that pretty well sums up my perspective of "The Ben Gordon Experience" (my emphasis):

It was comical watching the game deteriorate as Gordon took more and more shots, and only after it was decided did he attempt to sling a few passes. In fact, on one play he created a turnover because nobody expected him to pass. Joakim Noah was rolling toward the goal when he saw Gordon had the ball. Noah looked up, expecting to see a shot bouncing off the rim, but instead, Gordon had jumped in the air and whizzed the ball by Noah's head, shocking everyone in the building.

The box score won't show that Gordon was terrible, only that he hit 6-15 shots and turned it over 5 times in 39 minutes. The thing is though, every time he launched another contested jumper instead of taking his time and trying to find an open teammate, it deflated his guys, and they held their heads down as they trudged back to play defense.

Smells Like Mascot takes humorous shots at Chicago sports throughout the winter. Although the artist's first love is following the White Sox, I always find his take on the Bulls to be funny. He certainly agrees with Matt about Rose!

John Paxson
The former Irish basketball player is not being mentioned by many, but would make for an interesting candidate. Paxson knows a lot about winning, clinching a NBA title for the Bulls with a game-winning shot. He also knows about running in a big-time program, currently serving as the General Manager of the Bulls. Pax does not have any college experience, however. He also does not have experience with football.

Tough weekend in Gainesville for Joakim. This sounds like stuff that could happen to anyone, but you'd think he'd be more careful after his arrest earlier in the weekend.

Mejia piles on Hinrich at Sportsline

Tony Mejia recently joined the crowd of people who took notice of Hinrich's absence in the Atlanta game and Skiles' postgame quote:

"We had some really quality point guard play there for about eight minutes or so and our offense looked really good," Skiles said in appreciation of the work backup Chris Duhon did in the second half of a 90-78 Bulls victory.

Mostly he rehashes Kirk's current shooting percentages, offers some obvious qualitative remarks about defense, and bring's up the blown 2-on-0 break from the Atlanta game.

He does have one opinion I'd not seen mentioned before:

It's almost as if he came back a different player after removing his name from consideration for this summer's FIBA Americas Tournament U.S. squad. ... Whatever Hinrich's reasoning, he missed out on keeping his game in rhythm and the Bulls have been worse off for it.

And here I thought a rested Kirk Hinrich would be better for the Bulls...
