Pronger'd!
Meh, the guy changed it, not nearly as good anymore. He did add another video worth seeing, though you can probably find it on YouTube.

Figure filberts?!
Here's an interesting piece, mostly interesting because of the assemblage of links to other, more interesting pieces. I thought a few posters here would like the moniker Les habitants (of their mothers' basements). Keep doing what you're doing, semi-anonymous stats geeks! Nous croyons.
Canadian Jersey Commercial
Here's a great ad I just saw. I hope you all can see it (sometimes, there are weird restrictions between countries). I guess it's been around since Christmas; shows how much TV I watch up here. Enjoy!
Foley Makes the Top 20
Classic quote. It may have only made it in there because he was trashing the Leafs, but uh I have no good reason for posting this. Slow day at the office.
The rest of the quotes are worth reading through, even if you've already heard them many, many times.
Not about the Super Bowl
A little back story, and then I'll get to my point.
A friend of mine up here wanted to watch the Super Bowl. So, we met up at the old Forum, which is now some shlocky movie theater/restaurant place* and had a drink before going downtown to watch the game. We went down to McClean's on Peel, but all the seating was full, so the two of us kept wandering around, trying to find a sports bar. Eventually, we ended up at La Cage at the Bell Centre, which was a great call.
The place was crowded (although it strangely emptied out before the second half), but we were able to find a seat. Right after we got there, Chris pointed out a guy wearing a Hawks third jersey (the old black one, not the Winter Classic style). I should stress, I was not drunk, although with the Super Bowl on, I was feeling brazenly American and maybe a little homesick, so I asked my server if I could buy him a drink. Which I did, and then he reciprocated. We never talked, but we did toast each other across the room.
So, to Blackhawks guy at La Cage, if you happen to see this, thanks for the drink. The cognac was a great choice. Go Hawks!
*On a completely unrelated note, how depressing is that? I mean, the Forum is one of the absolute greatest sports arenas of all time, certainly as great as the Bernabeu, and a hell of a lot better than that Cathedral of Greatness Bought: Yankee Stadium. And what do they put in its place? An ugly building with weird architecture, a few seats from its glory days placed in a strange configuration, some CH logos spread around, and dance music piped into the atrium.
Vancouver Proving They Are Who We Thought They Were
The last paragraph of this is the important one. I'll let my personal opinions on the whole matter alone, and just say that when it comes to officiating, every goddamned team in the league knows the drill. To keep whining about it, and the way that HNiC covered it (especially when it was MacLean alone in the interview) is just, well, exactly what you'd expect from that organization.
Locked in a room with Eddie O
Maybe not locked, but still. How many times do you think he said, "For all you young hockey players," even though it was all middle aged women?
Ottawatagame
Aren't these Hawks something? I remember when other teams took games against the Hawks as just another game, so in a way, it's kind of nice that they now seem these games as "special attention required."
For Hawks61
So, obviously, I've only been lurking on SCH in the past month. Are you tripping out to Vaudreuil for the game on Friday? If you're still meeting your friend over there, it would be great to meet up with you guys. I get off work in time to make the train, but there isn't one coming back to Montreal until the next morning. You know any place I could crash, cheap motel, couch, heated foyer?
Hawks Fans in Montreal
I'm living up here in Montreal. It's a great city, especially for hockey and drinking, but I don't know any fellow Hawks fans. I was wondering if anyone knows any up here. I'd like to get a viewing party together, especially for the Oct. 30 game against the Habs. We could even print off copies of the Committed Indian for the game. With enough beer, it might be like we're at the UC, until the French get pissed off. Anyway, if you're interested, let's get something worked out.
