Trade Curry + 30th for Bobcats #2 pick?
They were talking about this on The Game today. We would probably have to throw in our 30th pick and maybe one of the second rounders.I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone bring it up here before. Seems like a win win for both sides. Curry has always wanted to play in his home state and the Bobcats have always wanted him. Hes on the last year of his rookie contract and personally i dont think he deserves a big pay day with those glass ankles. We could draft MKG and then Damian Lillard with the 7th? Maybe even trade back and take him around the 11th. Both teams get their hometown point guards and we get our small forward of the future. Do you think the Bobcats would even consider this?
Jorge Gutierrez's Pre-Draft workout interview with the Dubs. I loved this guy at Cal he was a real fan favorite. Id love to give him a training camp tryout. I could see the fans really taking to him since theres a big latino population in the bay area.
What Bay Area Sports Talk station do you listen to? KNBR or The Game?
I used to be an avid KNBR listener but i switched over to 95.7 the game about a year ago and never looked back. KNBR focuses about 80 percent of their time on the Giants and it just got old. I'm curious how many other GSOMers have switched over to The Game. Who are you favorite on air personalities? I really like The Rise Guys, John Lund and Eric Davis on The Game, and I used to enjoy Tom Tolbert (even though Ralph put me to sleep) and Gary Radnich on KNBR.
DeJuan Blair?
For whatever reason DeJuan Blair has played his way out of Popovich's rotation. Diaw is getting the starting nod and Blair has hardly seen the court. He could greatly help us off the bench next season. Would you guys give the spurs back their pick plus Jeremy Tyler and maybe one of our second rounders for him? The Spurs have had amazing success with late round picks do you think they would do it?
Best crossovers of the season, Nate is number 3. My favorites are Rodney Stuckey on Kobe and Deron Williams on Willie Green.

Did it occur to anyone else that we lost Udoh because of Tim Kawakami?
Things progressed very quickly after TK tweeted about Monta privately saying he wanted to be traded. I think the Warriors would have been able to get a deal done without Ekpe if these private talks didnt get leaked. TK should of waited until after the trade deadline to report about this. I understand that it is their job to report these type of things but he should of used some discretion, knowing that leaking this info would strip the Warriors of any leverage that they had in the proposed trade. In not questioning his credibility either but whos to say that Monta even said he wanted to be traded with all the rumors flying around. When word got out that Monta wanted to be traded it seemed like the FO made a snap decision before they lost all leverage they had. It really sucks we lost Udoh and had to take SJax back. Its the medias job to report on the team not influence their decisions.

Blazers will extend Greg Oden a 1 year 8.8 million dollar qualifying offer
According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Blazers informed Oden earlier this week they'll indeed tender him his $8.8 million qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent.
Considering Oden's injury history and pricey qualifying offer, it's a safe bet he'll be back in Portland next season, as other teams may view him as too much of a risk to make an offer on at this point in his career.
West ready to move Monta?
More Monta speculation, this time from the San Jose Mercury
We would of tied the Bucks for the 10th spot if we lost to the Blazers
But this game was just too important to tank. We needed to show everyone how capable we were of beating the Blazers reserves. It was so important that we risked further injury to our golden boys ankle. A win on the last game of the season always takes precedence over moving up in the draft right?? Like last season when getting Nellie the record was more important then getting us Demarcus Cousins! Gooooo team goooo!!
Timetable for a Smart decision
UPDATE No 2: Updating this below chatter from last month, it's sounding like a decision on Smart's future could linger for a bit.
"Warriors owner Joe Lacob indicated during a brief conversation on Monday that an announcement on Smart won't be coming immediately following the season, and that it might be a couple of weeks or more before any decision is made on the coach's future," wrote Matt Steinmetz of Comcast SportNet Bay Area.
---
UPDATE: ESPN's Marc Stein adds this in the Weekend Dime.
"Although Warriors owner Joe Lacob has been largely complimentary of his rookie coach while consistently insisting that Smart will be evaluated on the full 82 games, there are rising doubts about Smart's ability to serve as more than a one-season stopgap after he was promoted by the new ownership group when Don Nelson was ousted mere days before the start of training camp," he wrote.
As such, this could indeed be Smart's only season as head coach of the Warriors.
---
The contract for Keith Smart expires after this season and he's not expected to receive a new contract from Warriors owner Joe Lacob.
Matt Steinmetz of CSN Bay Area thinks Smart's relationship with Stephen Curry might be at the top of the list as to why the head coach will be looking for a job this summer.
Steinmetz writes: "... anyone who's been watching the games can see Curry's body language, and not just when he comes out of games. Curry doesn't have the bounce he had last year, the pep ... the smile. When the day comes when the Warriors announce Smart won't be coming back -- and how can that day not come? -- he'll be praised for being a good man, a person of character and a quality human being. That will all be true. There will be reasons why Smart won't be back, no doubt more than one. But right at the top will be the Smart-Curry relationship."
Smart is a good coach and shouldn't have a hard time hooking up with a team as an assistant coach next season.

Riley and Smart discuss the trade deadline...
look at the enthusiasm that our GM is showing its really inspiring. it makes me want to run right out and invest a thousand dollars in season tickets. this team is in great hands let us all rejoice! *sarcasm
The Murphy trade will involve either Dallas or Portland.
After nearly two months of trying to find a trade for him, the New Jersey Nets are near an agreement to send Troy Murphy to the Golden State Warriors for Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The trade is expected to be completed on Wednesday, but could still become larger with the inclusion of Nets point guard Devin Harris into a three-team package – most likely with Portland or Dallas, sources said.
So its at least going to be a 3 team trade with the third team most likely being the Mavericks. If it was Portland id like almost anyone off of their team to come our way if possible. It most likely will be the Mavs though. I wonder if we could get a taste? I would love to acquire a Dominique Jones, hes a beast. Maybe something like this?
If Mavs are the third team
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4pgw22j
Or this if the Blazers are the third team involved
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4rweatg
Ughh this trade could still be alive? There better be a pick involved..
Troy Murphy could go to Golden State for two nondescript big men: Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric. There’s also a Portland deal that has Murphy and Harris (with nearly $21 million in salary) going to the Blazers for Miller and Joel Przybilla (carrying under $15 million in salary). Either a third team or another player would be needed to make that trade work.
"I’ve heard Portland and I’ve heard Golden State but I really don’t know," Murphy said Tuesday. "But at least it will be resolved within 48 hours."
Murphy, if bound for Golden State, likely would be bought out, and Orlando is one potentially interested team if that happens.
UPDATE: WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Golden State and New Jersey near agreement to trade Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright for Troy Murphy and 2012 second rounder, sources tell Y!
If G-State completes deal for Murphy, it's expected he'll get bought out and become a free agent. Then? Orlando, Dallas, Boston, Miami etc.
Up-and-coming teams to watch
nice to see some national praise
Golden State
The story: After being shed of the bumbling ownership of Chris Cohan, the Warriors have embarked upon a plan to end a pathetic 16-season streak in which they have not finished in the top half of the Western Conference standings once. The best they finished was eighth in a 15-team conference in 2007.
The Warriors won't finish among the top eight this season, but they are 15-11 in their past 26 games. At 24-29, with 17 of their final 29 games on the road, any playoff talk is absurd, but one can see the pieces coming together. Stephen Curry is a devastating offensive player with his shooting and passing ability; David Lee has been more of a factor now that a gruesome elbow injury has healed; Dorell Wright was the free-agent steal of the summer; and Monta Ellis has improved both his shot selection and accuracy. If the Warriors could just rehabilitate The Guy Who Used To Be Andris Biedrins, they'd have a really good starting five.
The biggest weaknesses now are a lack of defenders and a paper-thin bench. But the core pieces are in place, and those are the hardest to find.
The good: The Curry-to-Lee pick-and-roll is something to behold, as Curry's shooting ability and Nash-like ability to fire one-handed bounce passes off the dribble make him among the league's most potent operators. Lee is the perfect complement. He's a phenomenal finisher with either hand, and as a dive man, he throws in the added threat of jump-stopping for a 15-footer that he also reliably makes.
Around them are other strong pieces. Ellis anguishes with his shot selection and wandering mind on defense, but he also devastates with his end-to-end speed and steady midrange jumper. Rookie Ekpe Udoh is still fairly clueless on offense but provides the type of versatile frontcourt defender this team hasn't had in ages. And second-year pro Reggie Williams is another in a series of great finds from the D-League for the Warriors -- amid all the other turmoil, they've scouted the minors better than any other team in basketball.
The bad: Golden State still doesn't play any defense, and its best players are the worst offenders. Curry can't guard anybody, Ellis usually gives up several inches at the 2 and spends most of his time gambling and floating, and Lee provides no resistance whatsoever inside. Golden State ranks 28th in defensive efficiency, a stat that will sound familiar to Warriors fans, and until the organization's Don Nelson era mindset on defense changes, it will remain a lottery team.
But the biggest concerns remain the big-picture things. We know the new ownership group has to be better, simply because it can't be any worse, but worrying signs remain. As an organization, the Warriors are still prone to being more rah-rah than realistic, and there's the worrying fact that former Cohan consigliere and current team president Robert Rowell -- the man most famous for getting played into a contract extension by Stephen Jackson -- has yet to be shown the door.
We'll know a lot more in the offseason, when the Warriors presumably change coaches and the owners make hard decisions on Cohan era holdovers like Rowell and general manager Larry Riley (who, it must be said, has done solid work thus far). The other big-picture decision looming is whether to keep the Curry-Ellis combo together or to trade Ellis for a more traditional 2 and, perhaps, some frontcourt help.
In other words, as with the other three teams on this list, the pieces are there ... we just don't know yet whether the skill and resources exist to put them together correctly. That's why these four teams aren't in Oklahoma City and Chicago's orbit yet. But they're knocking on the door.

Beans is on the trade block according to HoopsHype
Two-plus weeks until the trade deadline, and the Carmelo Circus aside, along with those guys who everyone knows are on the block -- like the Nets' Troy Murphy and the Knicks' Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry -- here are the guys that, according to front office sources around the league, are eminently gettable before Feb. 24: Golden State center Andris Biedrins, Memphis guard O.J. Mayo, Lakers forward Ron Artest, Portland centers Marcus Camby and Joel Przybilla, Philadelphia forward Andre Iguodala, Phoenix forward Josh Childress, Washington forward Rashard Lewis, Detroit guard Rip Hamilton, Cleveland forward Antawn Jamison, Minnesota guard Jonny Flynn, Charlotte forwards Stephen Jackson and Boris Diaw and Houst

Whats up Raider Nation! A few weeks ago I made a youtube page where i talk about my favorite sports teams. Mostly the Raiders, but also the Warriors, Giants, and the Sharks. I played football, baseball, and basketball all my life, and football in college. I'm a die hard Raider fan and I always stay updated with the latest news on the team. Every week I'll be posting a preview of the upcoming game, as well as a recap. If I get some more viewers and subscribers I might start making more videos as well. Currently I'm going to school to become a sports journalist so its fun for me to talk sports, especially about my Raiders. So check it out, subscribe if you like it and comment.

The Chargers are going to release Shawne Merrimen
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter the Chargers are going to release Merrimen next week. He will be able to sign with a new team. I say whip out that checkbook Mr. Davis! What do you guys think? I think he could really help our pass rush. He also has the speed to be a more effective coverage lb then Wimbley or Scott. If we picked him up we could move these guys back to DE and let them focus strictly on the pass rush.
Carmelo Anthony Sweepstakes Come Into Focus
Only soon-to-be owner Joe Lacob knows how far he's willing to go to get Anthony, but this sort of trade could be exactly the sort of move he's looking for to prove to downtrodden Warriors fans that his new regime will be run differently. And according to Marcus Thompson of the Contra Costa Times, Lacob might do an Anthony deal even if he can't get him to commit to an extension.
Lacob and co-owner Peter Guber are taking over for Chris Cohan, the much-maligned former owner whose track record included one Warriors playoff berth since he bought the team in 1995. Lacob has been on a bully pulpit since news of the ownership change broke, explaining to any media member who will listen how he plans to run the organization in the sort of first-class manner he witnessed as a minority owner of the Boston Celtics.
He's vowing to change perceptions of the market, to combine winning on the court with all that's good in the Bay Area and make his team and his region a destination point for players. Yet even with one potential obstacle possibly cleared (that being the no-need-for-an-extension approach), there is another significant one: the Warriors don't want to part ways with Stephen Curry.
League sources say the Nuggets are extremely high on Curry and would demand the second-year guard be included in any deal with the Warriors, but it appears highly unlikely Golden State would cooperate. The more likely scenario is a deal involving veteran guard Monta Ellis ($44 million over the next four seasons) and center Andris Biedrins (four years, $36 million remaining with fourth-year a player option), and that sort of combination certainly doesn't fit with Denver's demands.
Other potential pieces: newly acquired forward David Lee (six years, $80 million left), rookie forward Ekpe Udoh (No. 6 pick in June out of Baylor), and guard Reggie Williams (second-year player and former D-Leaguer who averaged 15.2 points in 24 games last season). The need for the Warriors to join forces with a third team in a deal is even more vital considering they can't offer any first-round draft picks until 2014 (read here for more on why).
Sources: Nuggets soften trade stance
The Nuggets are now officially listening to trades regarding Melo.
