Minor League Ball Info on these players

I've looked for information on these guys, got a little from some of the posts on here but they aren't that high on the prospect list.  Was hoping anyone could give any information on these guys that isn't on here.  Opinions matter also...would like to see if these guys are worth having around and what the big league clubs plans are for them.

Dusty Ryan- saw he just got traded

Deolis Guerra- worth keeping or not

Max Ramirez - will he stick this year?

Yu Darvish - is he ever coming over, what's the latest

I own these guys in a sim league but I'm most curious about Guerra.  I've read that his velo was back up and that he's young for the levels he's been pitching at.  There seems to be opinions on him all over  the board.

Minor League Ball info on these players

Can I get some info on these pitchers or position players.  Being on the west coast I don't get to see them very much and a few listed are not exactly blue chippers.  Just want to know if they have a future or are in the teams plans for the upcoming season.  Chris Seddon and Gaby Hernandez from the Marlins, Jason Jaramillo from the Phillies, John Jaso, Gabby Martinez, Jason Pridie, Jeff Ridgway from the TB organization.  I see that Seddon is listed on the Marlins SP depth chart on MLB.com  Any insight to these guys would be appreciated.

Minor League Ball What is...

the status of Joba Chamberlain?  Anyone have any information on him?  I looked him up on the MiLB site and it says he is on the reserve list.....not sure what that means.  Is he injured? .................................................................................................... ............................

Minor League Ball Ethier v Lind v Hermida

I'd like to see how people size up this group.  Ethier and Hermida have a year under their belt while Lind made a splash with a small sample size.  I've been a big Hermida fan and still am.  I like his swing-plane and the fact he'll take a walk.  His defense looked a little suspect from the times I saw him.  I really haven't seen Ethier much or Lind.  I read that Ethier had a poor last month of the season.  Where does Lind fit in with these guys....better or below them?  Is Ethier for real or a guy that's going to disappoint?

Minor League Ball Fowler v Hunter

I haven't read too much about Dexter Fowler or Cedric Hunter.....either of these prospective CF's going to make it long-term?  Having looked at John's book on these 2, it appears that they may have a future at some point.  Others have opinions on these 2 guys?  Will they be the CF's in the future for their clubs?  What is the gap between these 2 and Bruce, McCutheon, and Rasmus or any other CFer that comes to mind?

Minor League Ball rate these pitchers

Looking to get some feedback on how people would rate or rank these pitchers.  If you think that a guy or 2 is head and shoulders better than the others(or worse)then that would be of great help also.  Brian Wilson (SF), Carlos Martinez(FL), Juan Salas(TB), Nick Masset(CHA), Charlie Haeger(CHA), Logan Kensing(FL)...........while I'm at it, any takes on these potential starting pitchers, Angel Guzman, Jason Hammel, and Eveland.  I know there was a thread on Eveland here...how does he rate with Guzman or Hammel?  Anyone still high on these 3 SP's?

Minor League Ball Need draft help

I could use opinions on these prospects for my SIM league.  Don't worry about the immediate help that these players would give as I'm stacked now but would like to see others compare these players.  Rank them as you see fit with and add any other comments:  Erick Aybar, Ryan Sweeney, Glen Perkins, Johnathan Sanchez and I'll throw in Ubaldo Jiminez.  Thanks in advance

Minor League Ball Weeks v Kinsler

I'd like to see how others compare these 2 guys.  I'll be honest, I really haven't gotten a chance to see Kinsler play, so have nothing to go besides the stats.  From what I've read, neither one is going to win a gold-glove anytime soon but does Kinsler have a chance to become a decent glove?  Assume that Weeks stays at 2b.  What would be comps for them?  Kinsler = ?, Weeks = Kent with speed or is that way off?

Minor League Ball rank these pitchers

I'd like to see what guys think of these pitchers as a group.  All have been rated in top 10 lists.  Nolasco, Danks, Hurley, Niemann, Diamond and Volquez.  I know John is very high on Hurley but the problem I have is once guys like Nolasco get into the majors, where do they rank with the present prospects.  Is Nolasco greater than Volquez?  Any of the others?

Minor League Ball Penn and C Hansen

I did a search on Penn and didn't find anything on where the guy stacks up in the Orioles plans.  Is he going to be in the rotation this year?  He had to many innings to make the top 20 list for the Orioles but where does he stack up?  What is the outlook on Hansen?  Has his stock dropped?  Does he look to break with the team this year or did they ruin this kid by rushing him?

Minor League Ball Reyes v Nolasco v J Patterson

This is an odd comparison with Patterson being a more established guy, but his injuries are also part of the equation.  How would you compare these guys?  Is Patterson the only one capable of an ace type year?  How does his injury history factor into the equation?  Does Reyes have more upside than Nolasco?  Alot more upside?  Curious as to the opinions here.

Minor League Ball Angels 1b / DH / 3b

What are the thoughts here on who the Angels are projecting to be their starters or platoons at these positions?  The Hillenbrand signing must bump someone out of the picture.  I've got Morales in a league and I'm wondering if he's already blown his shot or are they now being patient.  Where does this leave Kotchmann, Morales, McPherson, etc?

Minor League Ball future closer?

What are the chances of any of these guys actually becoming a closer and then part 2 would be having success as a closer?  Ambrioix Burgos, McCay McBride, Taylor Tankersley, Juan Salas.  I have these guys in a 30 team SIM league.  I building for next year so I've been trying to anticipate getting a future closer without having to buy one.  Anyone seeing these guys getting an opportunity and succeeding?

Minor League Ball pitching staff

This is a SOM league post.  I'm trying to build a quality staff to compete next year.  Too many injuries for this year to compete.  The offense is solid to above average.  Here are the staff's:

SP- Schmidt, K Escobar, Nolasco, R Lopez, Corcoran, Hammel, J Patterson, M Thompson, Mitre

Others: McCarthy, Petit, Greinke, Wade Davis, McGee, Sonnastine, Gaby Hernandez, Liz

Would you leave it alone at this point or look to move Schmidt or Escobar?  I've shopped Escobar and could acquire a guy like Rich Hill and something for him.  Opinions?

Minor League Ball Random Pitchers

Anyone have information on these pitchers:  Jim Johnson (Orioles), Zach Day, Brian Wilson (SF) and Joe Nelson (KC).  It's kind of a hodge-podge list.  Where is Day?  He's still relatively young at around 28.  I'm guessing he had arm troubles last year...or was it ineffectiveness?  Is Nelson the closer for KC for this coming year?  Do you see Johnson or Wilson helping their clubs this year?

Minor League Ball Jerome Williams

Does anyone know what happened to Jerome Williams?  He had a couple of starts last year and has disappeared off of the radar.  Is he hurt or is he far removed from any opportunity to get back into the rotation talk with the Cubs?.....that is if he is still with the Cubs.  I believe he's only around 24 or 25.

Minor League Ball Bonser, Perkins, Swarzak, and ?

Going by John's book from last year, he had Swarzak rated around 30th amongst pitchers, and that was just ahead of Garza.  1 year later, where does he rate?  Are Bonser and Perkins legit rotation guys?  Back-end of the rotation or middle?  John had Perkins rated as C+.  Is there any other SP candidates from the Twins system that you would put ahead of these 3?

Minor League Ball James and Davies

Need thoughts on these 2 pitchers in the Braves rotation.  I read John's comments on James last year and he appeared to have a solid campaign.  Is he a #3 type pitcher at best or is there some more upside here?  Davies, I believe, has control problems, correct me if I'm wrong.  I checked out the MLB depth chart and they have Davies ahead of James....in fact James is listed 6th among SP's.  ESPN has it the opposite with James behind Smoltz and Huddy.  Davies isn't even listed.  Any thoughts on these guys and their upside?

Minor League Ball info on these prospects

For those who might know, I'd like to get some insight on these pitching "prospects".  Besides O'Connor, will any of these guys get significant innings in any roles?  Mike O'Connor (Nationals), Carlos Villanueva, Juan Mateo (Cubs), Kason Gabbard(Red Sox), Francisco Cruceta(Indians), Manuel Corpas(Rockies), Alay Soler(Mets)

Minor League Ball Hill, McCarthey, Greinke

This post relates to my Strat-O-Matic sim league...full majors and minors.  If its not your thing, then no need to reply, but I like the knowledge of the guys here.  I'm dumping Orlando Hernandez.  Some of the guys being offered to me are Rich Hill.  A possible Brandon McCarthey and Greinke / Horacio Ramirez / or Fabio Castro offer.

I'd like to know who you guys think has the most upside between Rich Hill and McCarthey.  I'm assuming McCarthey will get into the rotation this year or next.  Can Hill continue his late season pitching?  Also, Greinke would be a wild card.  Any comments would be appreciated.

Minor League Ball Hensley

I'd like to hear opinions on Clay Hensley.  Was the past season about as good as it gets for Hensley or is there more room for growth?  He appears to be the Padres #3 SP as far as I can tell.  I'm not real familiar with his minor-league background....that being said, is he going to go backwards or forwards from here?

Minor League Ball TB minors

I'm hoping to get some information on these pitcher's in the TB organization.  Those guys more familiar with the TB organization got any info or opinions on Brian Henderson, Tony Peguero and then former TB pitcher, Carlos Hines?  The only info I can get is off the minor-league stats.  Henderson is in the AFL pitching for Phoenix, but hasn't performed particularly well.  Do either of these guys have any chance of helping TB at any point?  Thanks in advance for any info.

Minor League Ball Lackey

I'm curious as to what others think about John Lackey.  Is this a breakout year or a career year?  Looking at his history, his whip is significantly better than the previous years.  All his indicators look to be the same to me except hitters just aren't getting as many hits against him.  I know that he's 27 and that is a time when pitchers seem to hit their stride, but is this guy capable of putting up these numbers every year?

Minor League Ball L Cain & E Johnson

This pertains to a SOM baseball league but I would like to hear what thoughts you might have on Elliot Johnson and Lorenzo Cain.  I know these guys aren't untouchable but do you foresee them as becoming anything more than C or C+ prospects.  I would be recieving Matt Clement and using him for just the remainder of the year as he won't be resigned.  Right now I would be the wild-card team.  Johnson is expendable since I have Weeks but I wasn't sure about Cain.  Any insights to the 2 players would be helpful.

Minor League Ball Petit and Shields

Looking forward to seeing how Jamie Shields does on Tuesday for TB.  He's shown exceptional control and an ability to get the strikeout.  Is there any talk at all coming out of Florida about Petit possibly getting a spot start.  His stats look good in the 6 IP that he's thrown.  They have to be thinking about giving him a start...don't they?? In Petit and Shields, you got 2 guys who know how to pitch and get outs.  They don't necessarily have the blazing FB but maybe they have enough stuff to get it done.

Minor League Ball Barton injured

I just came home from the Iowa @ Sacramento AAA game today and wanted to post that Daric Barton was injured.  In the top of the 1st, Iowa had a runner at 1b (Pie) and 0 outs, and Womack lays down a sac bunt to 3b.  The IFer comes in , makes the play, and his throw was up the line causing the runner to run into Barton's outstretched arm.  Barton was in obvious pain and down on the ground for about 10 minutes.  He finally walked off but was holding what appeared to be his shoulder (separated??).  I was really looking forward to watching the kid, as it was my 1st game of the year.  Didn't get to see him swing it at all.

On a side note, I thought Pie pulled a hammy about 3 innings later sliding into 2b, as he stayed down for a little bit, but it ended up being a spike-job....I think.  He stayed in the game.  By the way, he really looked good against D Meyer.  Ended up with 3 hits.  Nice player.

Minor League Ball Weeks

Anyone have any insight on Rickie Weeks staying at 2b for the long-term.  I believe I had heard that he was a candidate to move to CF if his fielding continued to be subpar at 2b.  I was hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on this....if they had heard or read of the organization addressing this.

Minor League Ball Marlins pitching

I know there were some posts here on the youngsters but I'm kind of excited about Y Petit in his 2 outings so far.  I wouldn't mind seeing him stay up if he continues to pitch effectively.  Did anyone actually see the game?  If so how did he look?  Were the hitters getting good cuts on him or was he showing some good stuff?  If most of these young pitchers (Johnson, Olsen, Nolasco, Petit, etc) pan out, then you may see the Marlins challenging for the playoffs sooner than later.

Minor League Ball Johjima / Doumit

I was watching the Mariners / A's game last night.  The announcers, whomever they were, pointed out that Johjima was doing a subpar job of framing the low pitch.  Sure enough, on the next pitch another low pitch and another ball because of his lack of framing.  He was catching the balls with his palm down instead of with the palm up.  Furthermore, some guys can frame a ball with the palm down and still get the low strike but Johjima was carrying the ball out of the strikezone.  It reminded me of a poor high school catcher.  Anyone else notice this or seen it.

Also, I saw a few innings of the Pittsburgh game today.  Pittsburgh goes to a double-switch when O Perez is pulled and they put in Doumit to catch Vogelsong.  Bases loaded...passed ball.  It looked like Doumit got crossed up.  2 batters later, Vogelsong uncorks a CB in the dirt to Doumit's backhand side.  Doumit tries to swipe at it and whiffs....another run scores.  No effort to even try to block.  If your going to try and pick the ball, then in the bigs, it has to be picked.....period.  It looked really bad for Pittsburgh. It's the first time I've seen these 2 guys play but...wow...I was thoroughly unimpressed.  Anyone see other catchers this bad?

Minor League Ball Russell Martin

Any Dodger fans or anyone else for that matter, know if Martin is going to stick with the team or not?  He seems to be having a good spring with the stick and his defense is good, so is it possible for LA to keep him and cut loose the veterans.  A Martin / Navarro platoon may be to young for both to stick but whats the story out of Dodger camp?
