Blazer's Edge Andre Miller

The most logical trade to get us into the playoffs isn't for a small forward.  We already have Martell coming in and that should help that position out as much as any big time trade would considering team chemistry, the luxury tax and contracts...

So Basically what I'm saying is no Vince, no Richard, and no Caron Butler because Washington isn't that foolish.

The most important position for our teams style is Point Guard...Blake is solid, but behind them we have two young PG's who aren't ready for the playoffs.  Sergio I'm sorry you're my favorite player but your talents are more useful somewhere else  (Philly has more than a few players that can run),,,Bayless is promising, enough and has showed  that he could be the Tony Parkerish point guard that gets us points, gives Brandon a break, and cuts teams throats without remorse,,, however he could learn a few things and who better to teach him than Andre Miller...

Does Everyone remember Miller stripping JJack of the ball in a big game years ago, which was the trigger to JJacks turnover prone game...That play if I recall not only cost us that game but it also affected the team for the rest of the season...

He is a veteran, has an expiring contract, could resign with us considering how much money we will be able to spend this offseason,,,took a young Philly team last year nearly to the second round, he was the better player in the allen Iverson Trade prove me wrong on that,,,,and if it doesn't work out we cut our losses,,,,

Andre Miller is obtainable, C Butler isnt, Amare isnt D Harris isn't, I could go on and on, teams won't hand us the title and we have too much too lose if this doesn't work out however we will give up something.  I'll leave KP up to who we trade and how it works...but if we could I'd take Reggie Evans too, he fits us perfectly, instant toughness, a possible goon, plays hard, got his game going with McMillan, and doesn't need many minutes..

So KP,  I trust you you will do the right thing and all i know is what i see and believe but you know way more than me about the players and chemistry and coach of our team,,,,,so what do we need?

Blazer's Edge Indiana Fans got it worse... than old blazer fans

checked out the Indiana Fan site. Barely any comments... but some are funny. this one especially.

"I am starting to lose hope to the franchise I have loved so much….. Why is Thomas run out of New York so fast when Bird slides under the radar…. I am personally starting to think Bird is worse than Thomas…. seriously I dont care what Bird says the move was horrific…. you can look at it like the whole Alford and Reggie Miller draft but Alford wasnt projected as the possible third overall pick of the draft… we got a steal in Bayless…. I was so happy… I had texted all of my Cavs fans rubbing it in their face… they were giving me props…. envious…. somewhat jealous….. 20 minutes later…. they were laughing at me rubbing it right back in my face…. what the hell is Larry doing here? I hope he has a plan…. because frankly the Hibbert move was the icing on the cake where I truly lost hope…. like seriously if Ike Diogu doesnt fit in with our team how the hell is the slower and less athletic Roy Hibbert??? Looks like we are building a college All-Star team… in my mind with these picks Bird would have picked Christian Laettner over Shaq!!!"

WE are lucky...

 Do we deserve all this?

 I think so...

good luck Indi, they should hire Chuck Person, anyone remember him? the Pacers and Celtics had some great battles back then.  anyone remember those?

I wasnt too high on Bayless, so that's probably a good thing.  hes probably the best fit for this team out of the whole daft (besides Rose)...

what does the tattoo on Chris Douglas Roberts  neck say?

Blazer's Edge Mario Chalmers

This kid would be a great fit for our team....I'll just state the facts.

Clutch...Good D....Good Outside Shot...Can pass....can drive...can score....can hit the big shot...National Champion....Young....Good size for a PG...late 1st rounder...Plays under control....No obvious mental issues....

His stock is high and low at the same time.  He hit one of the biggest shots in college history, and yet isn't mentioned as one of the top pg's of his class.  I watched the Mcdonalds All star game and he was a blue chip prospect coming out of high school.  He can score and was primarily one however three years Later at KU, he played like a PG...that can score and play lockD.

So what do ya'll think? I think he'll have a lot of success in this league based on his progression at KU.  He seems like a pg nate would Like and he can defend the perimeter well.  Players that hig big shots like the one he did usually...do it again.

I gotta feeling he'll be ours draft day...we trade our 13 for something unexpected and make another trade to get in the bottom 3rd of the 1st round.  That my friends...is based purely on nothing but my own gut instinct.  Mario Chalmers will be a starting PG in this league and he'd be a good fit with our other team.

I'd take BRush too,  Westbrook was a player i brought up here months ago but it doesn't seem like it's gonna happen...What is going to happen??? IT's our last major draft folks...i'll miss looking forward to late June...thinking hoping analyzing... But enjoying championships will be much more fullfilling...

No Kirk Heinrich please but i'll take Ben Gordon...Tayshaun Prince without a doubt.  Shane BAttier would be just as good if not a step behind...Don't dare think of trading Pryzbilla.  Teams are gonna get physical with us, they're gonna attempt to intimidate, push us around,  talk some trash...anything.  Joel is pretty much the only guy on our team that gets into it with other teams...unless you count Jarret Jack in the last game in Phoenix which made me so proud.

by next year we will need some players that have rings...players like Horry, DFish, and now James Posey are invaluable in terms of "having been there before".

Blazer's Edge What do I expect from RudyF

7.6points 2.3 boards 2 assists 1.5 TO

A top 10 player in the world (when healthy) had those rookie stats.  I don't even have to say his name, it's pretty obvious who I'm talking about unless you disagree with the top 10 claim, but tell me 9 other players that are more clutch than him, that play better than him, when it counts.  If Rudy's turns out to be a player like him, we'll all be more than ecstatic...KP got his culture from the Spurs...We're a young, hippper, and more athletic version of them without the foreign PG and foreign wing...until today.

Ladies and gentlemen, to my dedicated blazer folk,

give him some time.

It takes time for a team to happen.  unless they're this years celtics.  We have a serious shot to make some moves this offseason but if we don't do a thing...even if we trade #13 for a pick next year, we're still going to be better.

What do i expect from Oden?

Dwight Howards Stats

From Roy

pretty much the same as last year, with less minutes.

Martell, I'm unsure as we all are but he'll get more open shots.  Travis the same....Joel will be great if he's healthy, and channing can be a solid PF paired with the vanilla gorilla. Jack and Blake who knows who stays but i pretty much expect the same game from whoever does. James Jones is wildcard but gets  minutes if he stays.

And finally to Sergio, my second favorite player in the world behind Ime.    Both he and  RudyF playing together in the NBA, sharing the same backcourt may be the funnest basketball for us to watch...whether you love him or despise, it's hard to deny he can pass the ball, that he can see the court, that he gets his teammates the ball when they're hot, and that he changes the tempo of the game when he gets a chance...Didn't Popovich and Tparker have some struggles early on...Pop gave him minutes and let him play, something that Nate hasn't done with Sergio.  Will He? who knows but he might have to if Sergio gets better, and if he toughs it out...I'm not as concerned that he took a step back this past season because now we can see how he  responds.  Adversity isn't so bad.  That's what we learned this past season because we got better,,,with Oden watching.  With Rudy watching.  With you watching.

In the film Major League, they didn't win it all the first season, they didn't in the sequel either,,,they took steps.  I know eventually it went ack to the minor leagues, but nobody  saw that movie so does it really count?  The Godfather part III doesn't count, so neither does Major League 3 "back to the minors"

Go Boston.

Blazer's Edge the offseason lull on blazersedge

how bout them lakers...making me pull for each opponent to beat their...what's going on with all these off topic posts...why do i prefer the old format on this site better.  why aren't people writing geat diaries anymore...

It,s because we're good, what's there to complain about except jack and sergio?  nothing else really.  how many months until next season starts? 6 and a half.  ok people, your posts that are non basketball related belong somewhere else,  where i don't care start a new site.  this site is for fans of the blazers, not tominhawaii's ramblings about life. nor does anyone care about martell's grandma's white hat Are you kidding me....ok i'll calm it a bit, but really does anyone here have the credentials to honestly tell whether rudyF will be successful in the NBA?  we can hope as i do and watch dkv highlights but cmon people, lets not jump to any conclusions.  at least after the lottery we can talk draft and read scouting reports but until then we got the playoffs.  You all should be scouting the remaining teams as they are our competition.  Utah's letting me down tremendously,,,too many jump shots.  We're gonna need our point guard to be able to guard.

-tony parker, chris paul, deron  williams, and derric rose

we're gonna need someone( forward/guard it doesn't matter which) who can guard

-Lebron James

who else should we consider that will be a threat over the next ten years?

and finally,,,personally i pul for sergio but jack seems more logical as he can guard cp3 and dwill quite well actually but no point guard will truly become great until nate hands over the reigns,,,not meaning that he leaves rather he justs let them play, ala phil jackson, kobe michael, Pat Riley, magic, wade, Chuck Daly, isiah, dumars
. Greg Popovich, parker ginobili and duncan. Ya'll get where i am going.  I think it can happen .  Firs't someones needs to step up next to Brandon and take the ball to the hole.

Blazer's Edge midget---working for free as a blazer scout

is there a better time of the year than this when our blazers miss the playoffs.  College ball on all day on more than one television, cigarettes, coffee, etc... and a lottery pick.  So far, Brandon Rush from Kansas reminds me of Brandon Roy (senior, injury, attempted to enter the draft previously, does many things well, nothing super), does he have it in the head though...we'll find out.  Derrick Rose will be a stud but i don't forsee us even having the possibility of drafting him, so i'll leave him for the coaching staff.  OJ Mayo is tough, plays D and is a team player.  He's willing to take the big shot, which is something Roy has been shying away from lately (what, with the weight of the team on his shoulders this whole year, i don't blame him), Tyler Hansbrough will be a decent role player this year (where theres a will theres a way)...R Westbrook may need another year to be an immediate impact, but Mcmillian would like him,,,maybe love him (ala jack). Last year i was a big fan of DCollison but his sure still looks awkward (better than last year).  ...Why does everyone pencil in RudyF when we haven't really seen a thing?  Don't get me wrong, I think us fans will love him, but will coach?  (who should-and will-let go of the reins eventually and let the guys play much like he did during our 13game (media adoring) win streak..sergio is still my favorite player (keep it up SergioFTW--I think thats what it is)..i don't care for Beasley, he doesn't fit our "culture").  Dj Augustine may be too small to be a star, but he can ball).  KLove should stay in school and be one of the best college players of all time.  My Pick---UCLA

I'm pretty sure a lot of ya'll do the same thing, the draft is a top5 day in the summer even when we're good (not good enouogh).  I will never demand we draft a certain player again (get well soon Adam Morrison),,,,Oden's mohawk makes him a little less marketable which makes him a little more portland.

Blazer's Edge copy the lakers and the spurs

what the blazers need to do is have their own d-league team.  It's been a while since we've talked about this here, but i believe this is the most crucial step in our progress as a championship contender.  We got enough rookies and european players to fill half a team currently, and with the upcoming draft we could add a few more.  On top of that, imagine if we sent sergio down to get some clock.  He wouldn't have to go that far.  Lets put the team in beaverton, or gresham or wherever as long as it somewhere close to portland.  how bout mcroberts, how bout freeman, how bout the local guys like ime who can ball, just haven't developed into a man yet.  paul allens got enough money, oregons got enough fans.  all you who love this site and this team need to make noise about this.  The lakers and spurs have their own dleague teams,  we have some team in idaho that we share....seriously, what's going on with that.  Are we gonna stay a small time franchise or shouldn't we have the best that money can buy.  So what if it's a bad investment for paul allen, it's not our money....this is my rant, and thank god darius miles isn't really on our team.  And martell needs to get tough, nate mcmillan wishes jack were his son, and rudy f highlights are a joy to watch.

Blazer's Edge its that time again---draft 2008

to start watching college ball again.  time to start scouting again.  it's sad that it has come to this, but hey, at least we get another lottery pick.  Russel Westbrook is looking more and more like a player that could complement roy.  OJ mayo even.  Our team takes too many jumpers as it is, we need someone that can get to the rim and finish.  I'm losing faith in our guards each day now and think rudy F will be special, but who knows.  Before i was thinking we go big and grab someone like darrel arthur or thabeet out of uconn.  Kevin Love will be solid but he's not coming out.  I would love a kyle singler on our team too, but i don't think he's coming out either.  we're not moving up either so around #10-12 is where i expect us to be,,,,
fave 5 for future blazers

  1. derrick rose
  2. russel westbrook
  3. oj mayo
  4. eric gordon
  5. dj augustin

Blazer's Edge memphis blues

ok that's a lame title but regardless, i was right  (and fatty, you did say it first)...memphis was the team to look out for this season...  So now the Lakers are the best team in the league...on paper.  so they got rid of the funniest player in the league...to watch.  And so they finally got a power forward that can play (malone doesn't count).  So What...
i'm not scared anymore.
It's different around here these days.  We have a team that plays the game the right way.  We play smart    Our teams of the past had talent but no brains.  Besides porter, sabonis and pippen (who wasn't really ours), we had a bunch of guys that had more talent than smarts, and it always bit us when it mattered the most.  Like i said, we're not like that anymore.
So it's all good.  The lakers are, and will always be our biggest rivalry.  In years to come, the series we have with them will be epic and i hate to say it,,,they may even win it all sometime.   it better be soon though because we're coming.  We  got the big man now.  Bynum's pretty good but you can tell he'll never great.  He has chris webber eyes.  (for all that don't know, it's that look of  impending disaster, doom, and lack of confidence).   Dirk is starting to form some...
i'd like to say thanks to everyone here who's  helping to make blazer fans better.  We had some of the worst fans in this city...dumb people who didn't know any better because they were...well...dumb.  We're much stronger now.  We  havent been jaded because of all the times where we fell just short.  It wasn't necessarily because we lost, but because of how we lost (You all should know what i mean when i say this).  The fans are better educated about the game now, and  they're not all homers.
Some Random thoughts,,,
How cool is it that every game is on tv now.  I haven't had to listen to antonio harvey on the radio at all this year...What the hell is philadeplhia doing trading korver to utah, i really think they did this out of spite towards us...sirius satellite radio has an nba channel that has a talk show where all they do is talk about basketball for 3 hours and the blazers get a lot of love but...its not enough...Rudy F looks like the real deal, amlmart1 is awesome for telling us what's going on over there...and finally i gotta say that i can't wait till next season when fatty returns.  However, if by any chance we win it all this year, i think he should be banned permanently.

Blazer's Edge NBA radio

to anyone that enjoys the NBA and loves the pro game, i highly recommend you subscribe to Sirius satellite radio in about a month or so.  There's a 24 hour NBA    channel which has its own call in shows,  Alaa Abdelnaby is a host and you gotta love that.  Why couldn't he be our guy instead of Antonio harvey, the worst analyst in NBA history (how can this guy who couldn't get off the bench analyze the game better than me? there's no way.  C'mon, we all know he's horrible), regardless, Sirius plays all the games and all they do on this one channel is talk about basketball.  No commercials on the music channels.  howard stern, tons of stand-up comedy...just like the internet, you can listen to what you want, don't have to deal with what you don't.

Blazer's Edge drexler portland legend.....not

The greatest player in blazer history was for a moment the man named clyde drexler.  that all ended the day the NBA announced its 50 greatest players and there he was with his "humble" smile wearing a houston rockets uniform....what the...after all the team did for him.  We traded clyde to the rockets for otis thorpe and a draft pick which turned into randolph childress.  (it's been a while but i think thats right).  We suck for a while.  he goes on to win a ring.  he plays in houston for two or three years, who cares.  he wears a rockets jacket.  This is a man who plays in portland for the majority of his career and what does he do for us. disappointment.  failure, heartache, 2nd best.  yet the blazerfan sheep still adore this guy.  The organization threw him a bone in trading him to his hometown team, his hall of fame chosen team, the team and city he's more proud of than the one that stuck by him when he let us down.  Well good riddance clyde.  i'm glad the team never gave him a job after he retired.  i'm glad he was on dancing with the stars making a fool out of himself to the millions who wouldn't have known who he was if they didn't say his name all the time.  and why would they?  who really cares.  SO if this offensive to anyone that thinks clyde is a blazer great, take my word for it that he did wear a houston rockets uniform that day and it was on that very day that clyde drexler, blazer legend, became the benedict arnold of the blazers.  and if that doesn't do it for you, then remember when magic threw the ball down the court, remember when isiah and laimbeer played smarter basketball than, remember when Jordan hit all those threes in game 1.  remember the ugliest jumpshot by a 2guard ever....then Forget clyde.
and finally, Sabonis is the greatest player to ever put on a blazer uniform.

Blazer's Edge HAHA look at the lakers now

It sure was nice to have Steve Jones as bummed out as the rest of us whenever the team would choke after choke after choke considering he was on national television and had to be a national broadcaster, not our broadcaster.  still, we all knew he was pissed and hated the lakers and can never forget that we were up by 13 heading into the 4th, you know where i'm going with this... however it is a new day and we have the #1 player that this league will want to feature because he's a nice guy.  Forget about Lebron. It would be great to have Kobe Bryant in two years, that is unless we don't need him by then, and who the hell is fatty anyway.  I agree with whoever he or she is about Ime, but already i'm close to forgetting because the teams practicing together a month early, and whats up with sergio is he needs a couple of years, but we'll keep him cuz him and rudyF will be the best bench backcourt possibly ever, and i could see us winning many many many championships all because my dad passed away this past year and got me and my brothers the #1 pick.  Thank you god, thank You Nate Mcmillan for not tolerating when a player complains about a foul and thank you broy (the savior of our city) for not doing that (shareef abdur rahim was worse than sheed about that and if you don't believe me then you weren't watching), and thank you KP for not drafting morrison who i did want us to grab and even said i would boycott the team for three years  if we didn't.  I am humbled now and do not know everything.  Just more than most about this team, and if we don't win a ring with this squad, then we surely will know that Paul Allen did in fact sign a deal with the devil.
By the way my other favorite team is the cubs..............someday.
Jarret Jack will have a big year unless i just jinxed him, and Memphis is the surprise of the west.  I said it first.  How many games will we win? i don't know, nobody knows.
