First time Fantasy Football player

Hey everyone, I decided to give into the fantasy football craze thats been going on. This will be my first time playing FFB so I went with Yahoo sports and joined one of their public leagues. Just thought I could get some tips on what to do to have a good first season with FFB. I'll post the team I drafted (or should I say Yahoo drafted for me with my player recommendations) after the jump.

QB : Donovan Mcnabb - Phi (Alternate: Trent Edwards - Buf)

WR : Andre Johnson - Hou

WR : Eddie Royal - Den

WR : Desean Jackson - Phi

Alternate WR : Michael Crabtree - SF
Jeremy Maclin - Phi

RB : Pierre Thomas - NO

RB : Ryan Grant - GB

Alternate RB : Willie Parker - Pit

TE : Brandon Pettigrew - Det

Alternate TE : Brent Celek - Phi

Kicker : David Akers - Phi

Defense : Eagles

Alternate Defense : Carolina

So thats my team I guess. If you guys have any advice for a first timer, comment away.

Josh McDaniels said the Denver staff targeted Correll Buckhalter in free agency because coaches felt he had "multidimensional" skills that would allow him to succeed in the role of a traditional running back and also in the passing game as a blocker or receiver. "His body is young," McDaniels said. "He just might be, as a matter of fact, I think he is, our fastest back. He's got a great burst and he's got great long speed. "To add a guy to our offense that is very unselfish and is going to accept whatever role he earns is great, and he's going to play his butt off."

Top 99 players for '09

FoxSports.com's Peter Schrager posted a list of the what should be the top 99 players of '09. I posted the Eagles plaers after the jump but you should check the list to kill some time. I dont agree with some of the rankings like Eli Manning ahead of Mcnabb or Calvin Johnson ranked at 83, but thats just me. Also Im not sure how the addition of Jeremy Maclin is supposed to help Westbrook this season, but Im guessing he meant McCoy. I think that was a mess up when Ole' Pete wrote this list.

78. Jason Peters, OT, Philadelphia Eagles: Tra who? The Eagles went out and traded for the versatile Peters when Philly's long-time LT Thomas signed with Jacksonville this offseason. A perennial Pro Bowl performer while up in Buffalo, he'll be the man protecting Donovan McNabb from the likes of DeMarcus Ware and Justin Tuck.

54. Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia Eagles: Tough not finding a place for Westbrook in the Top 50. He's still one of the more lethal weapons in the league. He just needs to stay healthy in '09. The addition of Jeremy Maclin will open things up even more for the Eagles all-purpose back.

50. Asante Samuel, CB, Philadelphia Eagles: A two-time Super Bowl champion in New England, Samuel brought his ball-hawking corner skills to Philly last year and delivered. Rated here as the top cornerback in the NFC, he'll need to do it in '09 without Brian Dawkins manning the middle.

23. Donovan McNabb, QB, Philadelphia Eagles: The single hardest person to place on this list, McNabb could have been slotted anywhere from No. 5 to No. 50, and there would have been people who both supported and detested the placement. With Brian Dawkins now in Denver, he's the official heart-and-soul of the Eagles. There's a ton of expectations in Philly for '09. Lots of prognosticators have them taking a Lombardi back to the City of Brotherly Love next February. It's on you, Donovan.

Brian is also on the list but I figured since this was for the '09 season, Id respect most people on heres wishes and stop posting anything about him, but he's number 66 is you wanna take a look.

Roy Williams: 'Wide receivers ... were terrible today'

It would be kind to say the passing game didn't click during today's OTA workout, when Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton were the only receivers available who have played a down for the Cowboys.

"It was sloppy," Williams said. "I can't talk about everybody else. But I know the wide receivers, we were terrible today. We've got to get the young guys better prepared -- tell them to put their PlayStations down and get in their playbook. You've got to come out here and be prepared to practice."

Good point, but it wasn't only the young guys.

Williams and Tony Romo had trouble getting on the same page, too. The most glaring instance was a play on which Williams ran a post, Romo threw a corner and S Pat Watkins made an uncontested pick.

It won't be a big deal if Kevin Ogletree, Manuel Johnson and Julian Hawkins aren't prepared. They just won't make the team if that's the case.

If Williams and Romo continue to have issues after a full off-season of trying to build a rapport, the Cowboys will have some serious problems.

Gotta love it. While the Cowboys receivers are slacking off and not caring much, our receivers are working their asses off. Apparently Andy Reid was excited with what he saw out of Jeremy Maclin, and if we all remember last year, even after DJax had a good start, he still didn't get too excited. This is some great news.

I know this is still a sad video to watch, but I noticed something this time than the other times I watched it. Watch where Mcnabb throws the TD to Celek (around 4:30) and watch ol' Hank Baskett (I think) block TWO guys like its nothing. Just a awesome play all together.

C. Ingram one of the players to make instant impact

You might not have heard much about this fifth-round pick because tore an ACL and missed Florida's '08 season. But he has the body of an NBA power forward and is a smooth route runner. He's a nice, new target for Donovan McNabb.

Its the offseason and news is slow, so I get excited whenever the Eagles are mentioned. I came across this list of players that are primed to make a instant impact. Our very own Cornelius Ingram was the only non-first rounder on the list. The guy looks like a beast in this picture and Im excited as hell to watch him on the field.
