From ESPN:

"The Diamondbacks are waiting to hear from the A's about their most recent proposal for right-handed starter Dan Haren, the East Valley Tribune reports.

Arizona's package is believed to include prospects Carlos Gonzalez, Emilio Bonifacio and Brett Anderson."

Does anyone know anything about the aforementioned prospects? The more I think about it, the more I love D. Haren and don't want him to be traded. That being said, I don't know a thing about these prospects. Would the A's be receiving equal, or better, value in return?

Miguel Cabrera = Detroit Tigers

Miguel Cabrera, and the D Train, are headed to Detroit according to Peter Gammons:

All times ET 6:20 p.m., from Peter Gammons
• The Tigers have won the Miguel Cabrera sweepstakes. Detroit will get Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis for six players -- Cameron Maybin , Andrew Miller, catcher Mike Rabelo and three minor league prospects.

At least he's not going to the Angels. Also, there were rumors that if the A's were going to send D. Haren to Detroit, Beane was asking for Miller and Maybin in return. So, maybe now it is safe to assume Detroit is out of the Haren sweepstakes.

Outfield Sign for Geren

After Ken Macha was chosen to replace Art Howe as manager, an outfield sign infamously appeared on Opening Night entitled: "Machatude." I liked its creativeness even if it was difficult to completely understand what was meant/intended. It served well as my fantasy team's name for the past 3 seasons.

Now, however, I will need a new fantasy team name. So, I am curious if anyone has any creative names that incorporate Geren.

If he managed for the Giants, someone may be inclined to put up "Gerenatrics." But, we are above that in Oakland. We are also above "Geren Up For A Great Season." So, what say you about a creative outfield sign for our new manager?

Joe Kennedy Rumors Won't Die

From the Denver Post:

"The A's have contacted the Rockies again about trying to acquire Joe Kennedy (P) Col in a trade, according to the Denver Post. Kennedy has been demoted to the Rockies' bullpen."

I know there has been discussion about Joe Kennedy previously, but I have yet to understand our interest in him. Of course, any organization can use good, decent, experienced starting pitching. But, do you feel that Joe Kennedy is better than what/who we currently have? My only thought is that because he is a lefty, we have an interest him.

Can anyone help convince me why I should be excited about Joe Kennedy becoming an Athletic? (of course, if we traded a bag of balls for him I would not complain. But, if we give up a quality player or two, I would scratch my head) All that being said, Billy doesn't let me down always has a plan. I'm just not seeing it from here.
