So the Cheifs are a terrible football team. They will most likely be one of the worst teams in the NFL when everything is said and done. The rumors going around the NFL right is that they will bring in Marty Schottenheimer as a special consultant to help them rebuild their organization. Could that mean Brian gets a look as a possible head coach or offensive coordinator with a new young QB to groom? If you ask me I don't like to even think about the possibility of this taking place. I personally think this would be deflating. But I cannot imagine a situation where Marty wouldn't call his son to see if he would like to come to the Chiefs in some capacity.

I know its drastic right. but honestly the moves I see the front office making, it smells of massive overhaul at the WR position. To the point where I can see the only WR from the previous regime surviving the cut being Danny Amendola. We have signed Steve Smith, bringing in Jericho Cotchery and Jerome Simpson, and I expect us to sign one of these 2 guys. Now say we choose Cotchery, We would have brought in 2 receivers with arguably the exact same skill set as Gibson. Safe to say Gibson is gone. Pettis, serving a 2 game suspension is not going to help anyone, better have a massive preseason and training camp. Salas, decent possession receiver, doesn't really do anything different then Amendola. Maybe a small advantage when it comes to YAC, but I think Danny is more then capable as our slot guy. DX has peanut brittle holding his knee together. Drops a ton of passes, and can't be an every down wide receiver because of his knee. These guys can't get separation, they are slow, they drop balls, they can't stay healthy. Start Over.

So let me tell you my theory for how we are going to fix the WR core. I predict they will keep 6 WR, so this is the plan.

So let me tell you my theory for how we are going to fix the WR core. I predict they will keep 6 WR, so this is the plan.

Cuts-Gibson, Pettis, Salas, Alexander, and whatever other scrub who happens to call themselves a Ram WR. I think you can keep them around for camp but ultimately, they have to win a spot. Shockingly enough the one who I can see being the most impressive is Pettis.

So that would mean we have Amendola and Smith under contract. Next we sign one of the two receivers we brought in for a visit. Simpson or Cotchery, I prefer Simpson but I think with the suspension and everything the edge goes to Cotchery. He knows the offense and has worked with Shotty, the Jets loved him in the locker room and being a Jet season ticket holder he was always there for a big play when they needed them.

So now we are up to Amendola, Smith, Cotchery.

Next move I think we add a veteran WR who is used to manning the bottom end of a depth chart, but can give you a solid catch here or there when need be. Lets go with Jerhme Urdban. This move I believe will happen after the draft maybe after OTA, before training camp.

So now we have Amendola, Smtih, Cotchery, Urban.

Let's move to the draft.

Take Justin Blackmon at 6. I am basing this off of the fact that he will fall to us. Trich to the browns, MoClab to the Bucs and we get Blackmon, simple as that. I Don't want to start a debate in the thread about why we should or we shouldn't. He is the best WR in this draft, and whoever quotes Gil Brandt has no clue what they are talking about. Thats a guy that has Trent Richardson ranked 14 on his BIg Board. He is a beast and we should be happy to have him. We can get guards later on in the draft, so lets not reach for DeCastro. Did you know of the 6 pro bowl guards for the 2011 season only 1 was taken in the first round, at pick 32. The other five, 2nd round, 4th, 6th and 2 Undrafted. Blackmon will be the perfect WR for the Rams System, he has great YAC ability and is absolutely a complete WR.

So now we have: Blackmon, Cotchery, Smith, Amendola, Urban.

Again in the Draft. We will choose a Speedster WR. someone like Brian Quick, T.Y Hilton, A.J Jenkins, Tommy Streeter.

Undrafted players will also be Sprinkled in.

I think we need to revamp the WR core, start over. With an eye to the future, Replacing Cotchery with one of our First rounders in the next 2 years. Discuss

Kansas City, I think for manning it is a no brainier, they went 8-8 with Tyler Palko, Matt Cassel and Kyle Orten at qb. So clearly they have talent. They play in the afc west who I would argue is the weakest division in football, so can you say Playoffs? They have a ton of young talent, Charles, Bowe, Breaston, Baldwin, mccluster, moeaki, a decent ol with the 11 pick where they can take solid o line talent. 60 million in cap space. Mid west small market team a lot like Indy, I think Pioli will make a huge play for him. In Miami he has to play the jets and patriots twice a year, in Washington he would be in the same division as his bro, as well as the cowboys and eagles. The KC argument is that he wants to play in a dome and in warm weather. Ya think it matters to him if he is cold if he's makin it to the playoffs every year for the next three or four years. KC has a solid defense, idk the more I think about it the more I think it would happen. Think about how much the price for number 2 goes up if manning goes to KC and Flynn goes to Seattle? Miami, wash and Cleveland in a bidding war. Makes me all tingly thinking about it.

So apparently the rams hired a running backs coach, I know we all have been waiting to hear about our coaching staff hires, well this on slipped through. The Rams have hired former Rutgers RB coach Ben Sirmans for the same position. So I pretty much know nothing about this guy and I live 35 minutes from Rutgers. If you guys know anything lets get a discussion goin. I know we are looking to add some young talent via the draft to our RB core. I wonder what Mr Sirmans brings to the table. Btw my favorite RB in this draft is Doug Martin, I think if we have 2 second round picks we should consider him with the latter of those 2.

Rams realistic offseason!

So I am typing this with the expectation that the Rams will be able to free up about another 10 million in cap room which would put us at about 20 Million, more then enough to sign 1 key free agent and a few role players. I will also give my thoughts on the draft. I can see the draft getting wild, with multiple trades for our team where we could amass a bevy of picks.

Our key free agent signing, Cortland Finnegan, so in this situation we shed barbells contract and we add a reliable corner that brings the toughness this team needs SOOOOO badly. Shedding Bartell saves the rams about 6 million in salary, signing Fin could cost around 9 so we can seriously up grade our cornerback position for around 3 million bucks. We keep Murphy, Fletcher, Gordy. Add a late round pick to the mix and we can feel pretty good about CB.

Some role playing free agents to keep an eye on these will be listed by position and I feel these are quality players that we could afford.

DT: Derek Landri, Amobi Okoye, Broderick Bunkly

OLB: Erin Henderson, Rocky McIntosh

WR:Braylon Edwards, Pierre Garcon, Stevie Johnson(will not come cheap, but would LOVE him as a Ram)

G/C: Mike Pollack, Will Montgomery

Of this group I will pick who I feel the Rams should sign, now I know all of these positions will not be addressed during free agency. I will just choose 4 of these players who I feel could help the Rams.

For DT, I think the Rams should go after Amobi Okoye, now I know what your thinking, but With our Defensive coaches maybe they can pull something out of the former first rounder, he is still very young considering he entered the league at 19. Between Greg Williams, Jeff Fisher, Dave Mcginnis and Mike Wauffle I think they might be able to pull the potential out of Okoye, would cost very little with a high amount of potential.

For OLB, Erin Henderson, he is young and a very solid player. May be a little pricey but he has pro bowl skills and is only 26 years old, could sign a mid level 4 year deal with us and be JL's right hand man for a while.

WR, I have been talking about this on this sight for a few days now, and honestly think it would be an awesome signing by the Rams, Braylon Edwards. He worked with Shotty in NY, so is familiar with the terminology and the system, something that can be of crucial importance with young players. We want the offense to have any advantage they can coming into this season.

G/C, Mike Pollack, he can play multiple positions on the line and is an upgrade from the current depth players we have.

Now to the draft, I will make this quick,

round 1 trade with cleveland for number 4 and 22, and number 37. It might seem like a lot but the Rams will have multiple suitors so it will drive the bidding up.

#4- Riley Reiff, I have been watching Rams videos lately, and watching Bradford get ping ponged all last year scared me half to death, sure up the line Damnit!!

#22- Zach Brown, Speaks for itself, have you seen our OLB? they are special teasers at best. Don't rule out another trade down for an additional 2.

#33-Mohhamad Sanu- Need a wide out and everyone says he has number 1 potential

#37- Brandon Thompson- DT big guy, stout against the run and can rush the QB, bring in some fresh talent to the DT rotation.

Round 3 pick 2- Kevin Zeitler- another big 10 linemen, how bad could that be?

round 4 pick 1- Lamichael James/Chris Polk/Isiah Pead- we need a quick shifty back who is young not a free agent type someone to grow with our coaches and their system, I have to assume one of these guys will be available.

Round 6:Omar Bolden, Cb for depth with a lot of upside.

round 7: Kicker, who ever the highest rated kicker is, I know its crazy but for gods sakes can we get rid of Brown.

Some notable position groups would look like this,

DT: Robbins, Bannon, Thompson, Okoye, Gibson

WR: Edwards, Sanu, Amendola, Pettis, Salas, Alexander

LB: JL, Henderson, Brown, Chamberlain, Poppinga

OL: Reiff, Saffold, Wragge, Dahl, Brown, Zeitler, Goldberg, Pollack

Let me know what you guys think, I am having trouble concentrating on anything else but this offseason, I am dying for the Rams to bring in some really exciting talent.

So I am typing this with the expectation that the Rams will be able to free up about another 10 million in cap room which would put us at about 20 Million, more then enough to sign 1 key free agent and a few role players.
Some notable position groups would look like this,

DT: Robbins, Bannon, Thompson, Okoye, Gibson

WR: Edwards, Sanu, Amendola, Pettis, Salas, Alexander

LB: JL, Henderson, Brown, Chamberlain, Poppinga

OL: Reiff, Saffold, Wragge, Dahl, Brown, Zeitler, Goldberg, Pollack

Let me know what you guys think, I am having trouble concentrating on anything else but this offseason, I am dying for the Rams to bring in some really exciting talent.

Rams 7 rounds, trade with browns

So i will be doing these periodically, I have a lot of time during the day and a lot of it is spent researching the draft. I am going to throw another interesting mock together, let me know what you think. In this scenario the Browns give us #4, #22 and their second rounder for our 2nd and Brandon Gibson, figured I would just throw him in there. So on to the picks. BTW remember this is all hypothetical.

Round 1 #4- Matt Kalil- in this scenario the #3 pick is traded to Carolina to acquire Justin Blackmon who will shock everyone and run a 4.44 and be a sure fire top 5 pick. so we get Kalil and we get extra picks, seriously a win win.

Round 1 #22- Mohammed Sanu- Damn we need wide outs, so I figure this guy has a boatload of potential so lets role the dice at 22 where I think need meets value with Sanu.

Round 2 #33-David Wilson-Alot of people have Zach Brown going here but I really think he will be gone in the 1st, so I give Sam another weapon, David Wilson, but with the disclaimer that if Brown is available he should be a lock.

Round 2 #37- Lavante David- Solid Weakside linebacker should help JL and bring some Athletisism to the Linebackers. I have to put another disclaimer here cause if Brown is available and we take him we won't go OLB back to back so this pick would be Doug Martin out of Boise if we were able to land brown.

round 3- Kevin Zeitler, Add to that o line, would be solid with, Saffold at right, Dahl at r guard, Center? who knows, Zeitler and Kalil.

round 4- Billy Winn- DT from Boise, they have produced some pretty solid players of late.

no pick round 5

round 6- Omar Bolden, Early round talent Injuries make him slide, its a sixth round pick you can role the dice on a player with upside because hitting on a 6th rounder is not easy.

round 7- Darius Flemming OLB Notre Dame, seventh round, at the least he can contribute on special teams

Multiple trade Mock draft?

TSTers I love the NFL draft, I think being a Rams fan the past few years its been the draft that gives us hope. Maybe this year is the year we find a Jared Allen in the 6th round or maybe a Marquis Colston in the seventh. I have an interesting take on this draft because I feel as if it has been a long time since a team has had the power to effect a draft with trades like this Rams team. I am happy to have Jeff Fisher in charge of this team, I think he will be able to identify talented players and draft them. So here is what I would do if I was the Rams GM and had the power to wheel and deal.

Round 1 pick 2: Trade, I think Cleveland will come to their senses and realize they cannot compete in the AFC North with a QB like Colt McCoy. Pittsburgh has Big Ben, Baltimore has Flacco, and now Cincinnati has Dalton. Cleveland already has a franchise tackle and a solid o-line, shockingly enough they also have one of the better defenses in the league. So for them making sure a team like the Redskins is unable to move up to get RG3 they give us a call. so here is what the Rams get- Round 1 pick 4, Round 1 pick 22, round 2 pick 37 round 3 pick 68. I don't think it is too much, RG3 is a special player. Imagine game planning against a deadly accurate Mike Vick. so here are the picks.

R1-Pick 4: I am assuming Kalil is off the board, so I think Riley Reiff is the pick, gatta protect Sam. I think we let Loyyd walk (btw we will receive a solid compensatory pick for Loyyd) and sign Braylon Edwards to teach pick 22 and our other WR the offense. He is a cheaper option that we can use $$ on a DT or CB.

R1-Pick 22: Kendall Wright, I know this is a new direction but I love Wrights route running and his speed.

pick 33: Trade!! shocking right but giving the Rams an extra round one pick it allows them to move a little with the first pick in round 2, which is always a sought after pick. They trade with the Jags so they can get Sanu to help out Gabbert. This gives the Rams an extra 2nd round pick next year and a 3rd and 5th this year. so now we have round 2 pick 37 and 38. round 3 pick 66, 68,72.

R-2 pick 37(from browns): Lavonte David, OLB oh how bad we need OLBs.

R-2 pick 38 (from Jags): Dantari Poe, DT, HUGE MAN, huge run stuffing potential.

R-3 Pick 66: Bobby Wagner, OLB More linebackers to help out JL

R-3 pick 68 (from browns), Kevin Zeitler, G Solid Wisconsin O-linemen, Cant really go wrong with big 10 linemen

R-3 pick 72(from Jags) ,Marvin Jones, WR at 6'3 he could be the tall WR that has knees that work!, plus we can let him develop a lil with the addition of Edwards and Wright

R-4pick 97, .Iseah Pead, RB/KR man do we need explosion on offense and more importantly the return game!

R-5 pick 136 (from Jags), Omar Bolden CB, A head scratcher to take an injury prone CB but if he can stay healthy has first round talent.

R-6 pick 163, Marc Tyler, RB at 5-11 230 he is big and can be SJ39's back up, and be around for a few years as the 3rd RB.

R-7 pick 192, Blair Walsh, K, 7th round pick the best kicker in the country to replace Brown, he misses way to many field goals.

So lets recap, I think the Rams will sign 1 big name FA and it will not be a WR I think it will either be Finnegan at CB or Concentrate most of there resources on signing the mountain of draft picks they just acquired and go from there.

so in this scenario we get: 2 WR, ! LT, 2 OLB, 1 G, 1 CB, 1 DT , 2 RB, 1 K

We will also have 2nd round picks next year, which is nice.

I think we let Loyyd walk btw we will receive a solid compensatory pick for Loyyd maybe a 4th? We sign Braylon Edwards to teach Wright and Jones the offense. He is a cheaper option that we can use the $$ on a DT or CB.

My WR depth chart btw- Edwards, Wright, Amendola, Jones, Salas, Pettis. Inexperienced but Edwards and Amendola give Sam some solid players to throw to, I also think Kendricks will be solid next year and give illini mike another chance, to buy Wright, Jones and Pettis time to develop. Salas will back up Amendola.

I guess this is another best case scenario type of draft but How do you feel about the picks??

TSTers I love the NFL draft, I think being a Rams fan the past few years its been the draft that gives us hope.

Can someone let me know, I have heard it is horrible to go see a game in.

What were they thinking when they built it?

What is it like to see a game in the dome?

I am from New Jersey and my girlfriends dad is a season ticket holder for the Jets so I have been to six games in the new stadium, I have to say it is seriously unimpressive. That stadium cost 1.6 billion dollars, and is 24 months old. Its very grey, it is cold in the north east in the winter but this place just makes you feel colder. When you try to go into the stadium it can take up to an hour, just to get from the ticket checkers to the escalators and he has the premium parking and field level seats. The place is MASSIVE, and it seems very corporate, it is very New York. It is not loud, and the upper deck is wayyyy to far from the field, the upper deck in the new stadium starts where the old stadium use to end, just to give you perspective. You could take old giants stadium and plop it in the center of the new one and the upper deck would be equal to the second level, Its crazy. I have a point here.

I was reading that one of the best stadiums in the NFL was actually one of the cheapest to build. Foxboro cost New England 320 million dollars and it is always mentioned as one of the best stadiums in the NFL. Why can't the city of St louis find a middle ground, something along the lines of Lucas Oil Stadium. I think the Rams should build something that is very heritage based, I like the Idea of a retractable roof. I think a brick exterior would go well with the midwest but then again I have never been to the city so I don't really know. To perform 400 million in renovation to the stadium during an offseason is unrealistic. It would likely take years to perform forcing the Rams to either play home games in a construction site. or play at another stadium. I would like to know what St Louisans would like to see in a brand spankin new stadium. because lets be honest, we are all delusional if we think the Rams are staying in STL without getting a new stadium.

So lets have an open discussion about what we would like to see in a new stadium. Something built for the Rams and the city of STL.

The way he put it was more Budweiser and less Bud Light. As a Graphic Designer myself I think the Ram logo could have had the arch incorporated a little, but thats just me.

" South Carolina wideout Alshon Jeffrey* has generated some buzz because of his size (6-4, 229), athleticism and ball skills, but some scouts question his overall speed and burst. They wonder about his ability to separate from elite corners at the next level and that could prevent Jeffrey from emerging as an impact player.

I am at work and like any good worker I am sitting at my desk trying to occupy myself with anything other then actual work, I have been reading articles around the interwebs and I have some to some interesting theories on who our back up running back could end up being. I would like to get my fellow TSTers oppinion on some of these guys in a Rams uniform.

Lendale White: I know he isn't ideal and lately he has had trouble sticking with teams, but there is no doubt he was productive at Tennesse before Chris Johnson took over. He is in Denver now and it looks as if Denver is in the market for a big name running back ie, Deangelo Williams. Maybe they release White and we can pick him up.

Another Denver running back with ties to McD is Correll Buckhalter: I think if the Broncos sign Deangelo one of there running backs is going to be out of town, I don't think it will be Knowshon (although if it was we would be stupid not to make a play at him) so Buckhalter adds an interesting element to the discussion in that he would most likely be a one year signing but he adds alot as a pass catching back and can carry the ball 10-15 times a game and spell S Jax.

Steve Slaton: The Texans are rumored to be shopping Slaton, I dont know about you but I would be willing to give up a 6th or a 7th to get him. I think his fumbling woes can be cured look at Tiki and AP. Both had fumbling problems but figured it out with a some concentrated efforts.

Marion Barber: I think he will be the odd man out in Dallas, Jerry Jones has a mancrush on Felix Jones, Tashard Choice is more of a complete back that can help the team every down and Demarcco Murray was drafted in round 3 so I doubt any of those three are released. I think Barber can add an element of an established NFL running back coming in to help Steven Jackson, Barber's negatives are that he can't stay healthy, well seeing only 10-15 carries a game may help in that respect. But he is a clear workhorse back who can come in and be reliable to fight for yardage.

Kevin Smith: The oft injured Detroit Lion may benefit from being a back up he doesn't have the physical make up of an everyday RB but he can be effective in spurts and can clearly catch the ball out of the backfield as evidenced by the 35 yard td reception he was injured on.

Michael Bush: Imagine the beef in the backfield if we put Sjax and Bush in a two back set, thats almost 500 pounds of running back the defense would have to account for. He might not be the cheapest option but he can definitally be effective and he may be looking for more of a starters role but he is a bruiser who can wear out defenses just like Sjax but he doesn't offer much out of the backfield.

So there are some possibilities, Let me know who you would choose. I would maybe go with Lendale White, I think he will be really cheap he is great in the redzone and can eat at defenses while Sjax comes in after him and finishes them off. Your thoughts folks.

PS: Darren Sproles will be way to high a price to have a player on the field for only 10-15 snaps, I would like the move but Billy D's history I think will show us he won't pay big money for a back up.

Would love this draft....

I have been obssessed with the NFL draft for as long as the Rams have been terrible. I have been a Rams fan most of my life going back to the days when Jerome Bettis was on the team back in the LA days. I think the current state of the team is promising but I think we are two to three starters away from being regular participants in the NFL postseason. I also have tremendous faith in our front office. I think the way the team has drafted so far has been so calculated to produce a team which will become a consitant division champion. I think this draft will be used to fill the holes with players as Devaney himself has said "score touchdowns and get to the quarterback".

So with that said I will put together a little mock draft which I feel will fill some holes in the Rams roster with much needed play makers.

Round 1: I think this pick will depend on a few major factors, the availability of Julio Jones, which prospects fall out of the top ten. Things of this Nature. The way I see this pick going is as such.

The Rams Stay at pick number 14 and they select Cameron Jordan.

I think he is an awesome fit for Spags system, he is a DE who can play DT. Spagnuolo loves to play versatile DE inside on third down. I think Jordan is still under rated even after his fabulous showing at the senior bowl. I think if we put him on the oposite side of Chris Long in a rotation with James Hall and Selvie. I think next year we will have a scary defensive line. This will also set us up when Hall eventually retires, Cameron Jordan and Hall are similar players making for an easy transition. He has fantastic size at 6-4 and 286 and was faster then expected at the combine. I don't think the Rams can go wrong picking a player that was widely regarded as the most dominant at the senior bowl against other elite prospects.

Round 2: I see this pick being another defensive player. A hole the size of the Grand Canyon in the Rams defense. I would love to see the Rams land Marvin Austin here but I feel he will be long gone.

I see the Rams going with OLB Mason Foster. I think adding foster to the Weakside next to JL will give the Rams an awesome tandem for the next 10 years. I think Strongside lineback is something the Rams can address in free Agency or stay with Naill Diggs who was servicable at Strongside last year. Foster was slower then expected at the combine but I think his play on the field shows he is more then servicable for the NFL game.

Round 3: This is where the Rams Address the WR position. I think we select a strong receiver in the mold of an Anquan Boldin.

Greg Little should be the pick, as a former running back he plays a hard nose style of Receiver the Rams lack. Think about Brandon GIbson tip toeing around in the 49er game instead of diving forward for the first down marker. That wouldn't be the case with LIttle at 6-3 and 230 pounds he would be the most physical receiver the Rams have. I think the presense of Denario Donnie Danny and Clayton will be servicable until the 2012 draft which will be loaded with top flight WR talent. Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Alshon Jefferie.

Round 4: This player I would be jump through my rough if the Rams were able to land him in the fourth round. RB have been slipping in recent drafts and I can see him still being available when our fourth round pick rolls around.

Shane Vereen out of cal Might be the most complete back in the draft and he is absolutely flying under the radar when it comes to draftniks and fans. He led the RBs at the combine in the bench press at 31 reps, and also ran a surprising 4.47 which is faster then Ingram, Leshore, Williams and Thomas . The most exciting aspect of his game is his pass catching ability. I think he would be a perfect back up for SJAX and would add another play making threat to a Rams team that desperately needs it.

Round 5 is where we add the guard we desperately need. I see a few Guards being Available here. Demarcus Love, John Moffit, Brandon Fusco, Will Rackley could be available at this pick and the Rams would be smart to choose the nastiest road Grader to help Sjax.

Some players I wouldn't mind having if the some how are available when we pick.

Round 1: Robert Quinn, Julio Jones, Prince Amukamara, AJ Green

Round 2: Marvin Austin, Jaabal Sheed, Rodney Hudson, Marcus Gannon, Titus Young

Round 3: Jonathon Baldwin, Jordan Todman, Drake Nevis, Quinton Carter

So there is my dream Scenario, I have all the faith in the world in the front office. After all Devaney is from Monmouth County New Jersey guy. When a guy is from the same area as Bruce Springsteen how could he go wrong.

I give you The Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness. I think the Rams would do themselves a a huge service by printing this out and pasting it huge in their locker room. With strict adherance to the rules the great Ron Swanson has given us I don't feel this could lead to anything but great things for the Rams. Sam the Man should have this on his wristband instead of the play calls. Building a great team is alot like building a pyramid we have built a strong foundation and now we just need to follow this guide and we will be lead to the promise land.

So I have been thinking alot about the Rams season and how things are going right now, I see the Rams winning the NFC West and having a first round matchup against the Eagles in the Ed. As most of us would agree I dont think the Rams are ready to compete with a team like the Eagles I think we are a year away. One more draft and this team is put over the top, thats my stance and it has lead me to watching alot of college football games looking for players I would like to see wearing the Blue and Gold. With that said this leads me to Shane Vereen, how I see it the Rams will win the division at 8-8 or 9-7, which would most likely have us as the lowest ranked playoff team which means we will have the 19th pick in the draft, which i hope is used on a pass rusher or a wide receiver.

Our second round pick would put us in a good space to grab Vereen where he is predicted to land somewhere in the mid to late 2nd round.

The reasons why I like him so much:

1. Cal's offense produces well rounded running backs, this season Vereen is averaging around 10.7 yards per catch and has 3 touch downs. Couple that with 167 rushing attempts with 886 yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. for his carreer he averages 5.3 yards per attempt and has 28 touchdowns. He filled in nicely for jahvid best last year when he went down and I feel he is in the same mold only a little stouter at 210 pounds.

2. I see him as a fantastic compliment to Sjax, hes 5'10" and 210 pounds he is projected to run a 40 time in the low 4.4 high 4.3 range at the combine. With his pass catching ability and wiggle on inside runs. I think he compliments what Jackson does for the Rams.

This weekend Cal faces Oregon on a nationally televised game. The week after they face Stanford, I think we should keep our eye out for his stat line to see how he performs, and Saturday at 7:30 ET I think Rams fans should check him out and I would like to see what you guys think.

another question folks,

Do you think if Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State enters the draft the Rams will have him on their radar even after his DUI arrest. The kid looks like he is freekishly athletic, I would love to see him in a Rams uniform in the later rounds if he drops due to his arrest, ala Mike Williams of Tampa Bay. I think he is a carbon copy of Dez Bryant if not a little faster.

So I have been thinking alot about the Rams season and how things are going right now, I see the Rams winning the NFC West and having a first round matchup against the Eagles in the Ed.

Talk about timing, really makes me chuckle, 2 hours before you can file waiver claims, the guy in charge of the process for the Rams will have to answer questions directly to the fans. I doubt Devaney will give any useful information during the chat but it will be interesting to see how many questions he fields on the Moss situation. I am attatching a poll to see what you guys think. Personally I think the Rams server will explode due to all the moss related questions. Good luck billy haha

Rams and Moss?

I personally am completely torn about whether or not the Rams should sign Randy Moss.

First off I think the Rams could make an interesting pitch to Randy. An up and coming team with a 500. record looking for a wide receiver to be the lead guy and get them to the playoffs? As a 33 year old looking to make an impression in a contract year it would be smart for him to come in and be a team player with a young team, just to show the other 31 teams in the league he can be a team player in the right situation. And if he plays well and brings the Rams to the Playoffs then he can prove to the Vikings and the Pats how important a player he can be. and for a man with his ego, how could that not be an attractive oppurtunity.

I also think the Rams don't have to worry about Moss getting out of control, because of something I like to call the manbearalienmonster that is Steven Jackson. It is SJ39s team, Randy would be smart not to mess with that. Plus I think Moss would show Spags respect based on the way the Giants beat the Pats in that super bowl.

I also think Minnesota is a shit show right now. Moss needs to be on tight reigns, we all know that Brad Childress is a lame duck right now. I dont think Moss respected him therefore wouldn't play hard for him.

If the Rams were to sign Moss, I think it would be huge this week considering we have a bye. He wouldn't be thrust into a game on sunday and he could get 2 weeks of practice with Bradford and the team to get ready for San Francisco.

I would have to say if the Rams signed Moss it EASILY makes us the best team in the division. I don't even think it can be debated. With Moss the Rams are the best team in the NFC West, and a prayers chance of being able to actually win a playoff game. That really feels weird to type.

I also think it would do wonders for us being able to evaluate the effectiveness of Pat Schumer. If we cut him slack because he doesn't have a gifted WR to open up the field, well this would be a great oppurtunity for him to show what he could do. I personally think he would do fantastic, not to take anything away from who the Rams field on Sundays but lets be serious, there is no one (besides Amendola) who can hold a candle to Randy Moss, even at 33.

He is also in a contract year, so if it works out, great maybe we resign him and he plays another 2 years on the rams and we get to watch one of the greatest receivers of all time finish off his carreer. If it doesn't we cut him loose and we look to the draft for a number 1 receiver. Which if we make the Playoffs it won't be much of a reach to draft Julio Jones or Jonathon Baldwin drafting after the 18th pick or so.

Going into the toughest part of the Rams schedule which take place after the bye I feel this move would do wonders for the Rams if not just based on a protection standpoint for some of our key players on offense. I think it would give Bradford more time to throw and obviosly make some more room for SJ39. With tough road games coming up the WRs we have right now Gibson, Amendola, and Robinson, would have tok play out of there minds for us to scare sme of the defenses we are set to face.

The bad aspect of this would be how the team would react to the move. Maybe it affects some of the young players confidence because they think the front office doesn't have faith in them. Maybe he comes in and divides the locker room somehow, but honestly I cant see that happening. Maybe he just doesn't show up on sundays and he eats a roster spot that could have gone to a player who would leave his heart out on the field, but then we just cut him anyway.

Either way I think it would be nice to have a player of Moss's caliber on the Rams and maybe this is the move that Devaney finally makes.

Let me know what you think of the points made?

Ok folks so I am a little bit of a draft hound, I was checking out some mock drafts this morning and I know its early but check out walter footballs mock draft and tell me that you wouldn't be thrilled with the three players he has us drafting in the first three rounds. All three players are the athletic playmaker type players we are missing on the rams.

In round 1 he has us taking Daquan Bowers, the DE out of Clemson who is putting on a show in his junior season. 8.5 sacks and 17 TFLS thats pretty impressive

In round 2 he has us taking Davier Posey from Ohio State, at 6'2" would be a large fast target for Sam the Ram.

and the most exciting projection for me would be the Demarco Murrey in the 3rd round, reunite him with Sam and an electric back up for Sjax.

let me know what you folks think

I think that there are certain risks while drafting wide receivers in the first round, but i think that certain prospects are more attractive then others in situations. A player such as A.J Green is a can't miss type of prospect. Every year there is a wide receiver that goes in the first round which is leaps and bounds above the other wide receivers in the draft. 2004 Larry Fitzgerald, 2005 Braylon Edwards, 2006 Santonio Holmes, 2007 Calvin Johnson, 2008 no wide receivers went in round 1, 2009 Michael crabtree (we aren't discussing the anomily that took place with the 7th pick we know the raiders draft room is run by skeletor, if it wasn't for the Raiders DHB goes in round 2), 2010 Dez Bryant and Demarius Thomas. I am not saying that there is not risk in taking a wide receiver in the first round, but I don't know about you but I would not be willing to give 10 million a year to a wide receiver with multiple arrests and who sat out half a season because he wanted more money. What if he is a product of a chargers passing game that is just to dominate? Last time I checked the Chargers have the highest ranked passing attack without Vincent Jackson, If a player has so much value don't you expect the production of a unit to drop based on the absence of this player? I am not saying Vincent Jackson isn't an elite wide receiver, but to mortgage the farm for him? And we don't know how Kroenke feels about it, after all he signs the checks. I think everyone forgets that Devaney did make a trade to get a wide receiver, Mark Clayton. On top of that we all heard that the Rams were in talks with the Chargers about VJ but Kroenke nixed the deal because he wasn't comforitable shelling out that type of money for such a high risk player.

This years draft is particularly heavy on wide receiver talent. A.J Green, Julio Jones, Johnathon Baldwin, Michael Floyd, Evan Broyles, Devier Posey, I dont know if he is eligable but Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State looks like a clone of Dez Bryant. I don't like Vincent Jackson as a player for the Rams, yea it would be nice for the Rams to win the division but seriously he is to close to being suspended for a year for me to make a deal. How would people on this blog react if we made the move, gave him a 4 year 40 million dollar deal and gave away 2 draft picks to the chargers and he gets suspended? Who on this site would be calling for Devaneys head...every single one of you.

We have the base for a team that could be ELITE, I would say we have about 4 needs left before we can be seriously competetive in the NFL. Wide receiver, rush Defensive End, Defensive Tackle and Fast outside linebacker.

I think no matter who is available in the draft next year if A.J Green is available we have to take him. He sat out 4 games this year and look what he has done in his first two games back, 13 catches 215 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also runs a pro style route tree.

And don't forget about Gilyard, he will be extremely valuable when it finally clicks some players learn slower then others, and next year we will have Avery and Clayton back. Our wide receiver core could be Green, Avery, Clayton, Amendola, Alexander, Gilyard. I think we all would be happy with that. Now imagine we put that together, and we are also able to add Greg Romeus in round 2, or maybe a Bruce Carter if he is available. Then in round 3 go with a back up running back or Christian Ballard as a Versatile DE. This would not be possible with the Vincent Jackson trade.

On another note, if anyone on this website starts harping on the front office to sign Shawn Merriman, they obviosly are dillusional, and know absolutely nothing about football.

Building through the draft is incredibly important, drafting well is the most effective way to turn a team around. I think we can all agree Devaney as done pretty well in his two years running the draft room. examples, Jason Smith, Animal JR, Bradley Fletcher, and even Dorrell Scott has shown promise, 2010 draft, Bradford, Saffold, Murphey, Hoom, Selvie. The other players are developing as well. WE ARE HEADED IN THE RIGHT PATH. I know its hard to be patient but don't forget the unbeleivable roster turnover we experienced last year, and with virtually no owner to spend money, we couldn't make many free agent moves in the offseason. Another good draft and we could build something that looks like a great team. Then free agents will actually WANT to play in St Louis. This regime needs at least 3 years to turn this thing around, give them that.

I think one of the more important issues is the amount of leg injuries that take place on these field turf fields, The EJD was one of the first venues to add the grass-like field turf. We all know how bad injuries have been for the Rams the past 5 years.

Ok folks, so I just read an article by Bernie Miklasz and he points out that another WR 4th round pick was making an impact in this league, Tampa Bay's Mike Williams. I believe in our coaching staff, and I have to say i may not agree with them keeping Gilyard off the field as I believe a few designed plays to get him the ball would showcase his talents, I do not believe you can compare Williams and Gilyard for a few reasons.

!. Mike Williams, had a first round grade going into his senior year at Syracuse. Mike Williams was no secret in college football he was an extremely gifted athlete and wide receiver at Syracuse but after going through an abysmal year on the Syracuse football team, quit after disagreements with his coach and a tough time keeping his grades up and focused on preparing for the NFL and the NFL draft. This alone put him ahead of Gilyard in a development stand point.

2. Hampered by NFL rules Gilyard couldn't participate in OTA or any mini-camps. For a rookie receiver these couldn't be more crucial. it takes long enough to transition from college to the NFL most receivers don't seem to really come into their own until their 3rd NFL season. They need all the help they can get in their development and missing all that time certainly doesn't help the situation.

3. Gilyard was hurt during training camp and also missed time. This places him even further behind the curve for picking up the NFL game.

4. The Buccaneers run a vertical pass attack offense. Their QB Josh Freeman has a Halitzer attatched to his shoulder and they run a lot of deep passing plays, compared to the Rams west coast passing offense this is not that complicated, run as fast as you can, we will throw it up in the air, you make a play. (the Rams could maybe learn from this) Yea it would be great to have Gilyard on the field and just tell him to go deep but thats not the player he is, and would seem to hamper his development further.

The problem with this argument is why didn't the Rams draft Williams, he was taken 2 spots after Gilyard and is the type of receiver we were looking for going into the draft, I don't necessarily believe the Rams could have seen the development of Amendola as a receiver coming like it has. Gilyard seemed at the time to be another slot receiver. The Rams need to get Gilyard on the field, run some wide receiver screens out of bunched sets or instead of faking an end-around maybe try handing the ball to Gilyard and see what he can do, but it is not fair to compare him to Mike Williams they are two different players at different points in their development. So there is my argument.

Kroenke Nixed Jackson Trade?

According to John "The Mad Scientist" Clayton, the Rams expressed interest in Jackson until Braylon Edwards went and made a bone head decision and was arrested for DUI. I think two 2nd round choices for someone with a history of DUI arrests and is one slip up away from a year suspension is asking a little much. As much as I would have liked to see Vincent Jackson in a Ram uniform, I guess the FO didn't view him as worth the risk. I have to agree though, anyone with two DUI obviously has a history of making bad decisions and old habits die hard, so counting on him to not get himself into trouble again may be wishful thinking for an organization who will be making a large investment in the individual.

Rams Future

I am a huge fan of the Rams and have been for quite some time, I can't agree more with the way the Rams are being run right now. I think the Rams have added a fantastic group of role players which is essential to winning anything in the NFL, look at the Patriots in their prime, this being said I am also a huge fan of college football and due to the woeful state of the Rams the past few years I would consider myself somewhat of a draft expert. I think this upcoming draft class will be where the Rams take some chances on true playmakers. We have added depth at key positions with players like Illinois Mike and Fendi, drafting defensive ends that can be situational pass rushes, and Mardy Gilyard a player who could turn into a fantastic complement to a large play making receiver with his YAC ability, Murphy in the third round and Johnson in the 7th should give us solid depth at corner if they develop as planned. We all know what our first two picks are doing right now, Bradford is the reincarnation of Jesus and Saffold may prove to be a huge steal at the top of round 2. So that being said I think the positions we don't need to worry about in the early rounds of next years draft will be: obviously QB, CB, TE, DE (of the situational type, should be elite level pass rusher) OT. Positions I believe the Rams could use some standout athletes, WR, RB, DE, DT, S, we will see how Dahl does in back to back seasons and OJ could be gone come 2011. Late round targets should find us OLB, OG, CB.

I am a realist so I am curbing my fan expectations of the Rams making the playoffs to around a 4-5 win season. which would put us drafting anywhere from pick 4 to about pick 8. My projections plan accordingly.

So that brings me to who we should be targeting next year, I know its early to be thinking about the draft but with the optimism this past week has given me, I feel the Rams are 2-3 play makers away from winning the division. I will give the round, position and players I feel the Rams should target for the positions of need. I think adding some of these players will put the rams over the top:

Round 1: WR's A.J Green, Georgia, Michael Floyd, Notre Dame and Jonathan Baldwin, Pitt

D-line: DE, Robert Quinn North Carolina , DE Adrian Clayburn Iowa

I feel that these are the only positions the Rams should target in round 1, and I wouldn't have a problem with any of these guys, I think Quinn and Clayburn are very much like the Morgan/ Pierre-Paul debate, Consistent production vs. freak athleticism. but I think both players will be good in the league.

The pick I hope is, A.J Green, he is the clear cut best receiver in this draft, even with the bogus suspension he should be who the Rams target, he is big at 6'4" and fast 4.45 40 Unofficial so who knows how real that is, but he is fast enough, and he is very good at going up for the ball much like Larry Fitzgerald, something the Rams lack with a majority of our receivers around 6 foot. NFL player comparison: Roddy White

Round 2: WR: Austin Pettis, Boise State, Evan Broyles, Oklahoma

D-line: Allen Bailey DE/DT Miami, Greg Romeus DE Pitt, Da'Quan Bowers DE Clemson.

RB: Shane Vereen RB Cal, Demarco Murray RB Oklahoma

So if the Rams go WR in round 1 that obviously eliminates the WR from this round but if they go D line in round one the choices in round two could be very attractive, added to the fact that WR have been known to slide on draft day there is no reason to believe a player like Julio Jones or a Michael Floyd couldn't drop and be available in round 2.

The pick should be Shane Vereen from Cal, we all know we need a back up RB so why not pick up the RB who will most likely run the fastest 40 time for the group at the combine next year. Shane Vereen is very much in the Jahvid Best mold of running back, at 5-10 and 200 pounds could be the change of pace RB we all desire behind Steven Jackson. He is also rated very highly in pass catching something the Rams value. NFL player comparison: Leon Washington

I would also love a versatile play such as an Allen Baily from the U, I don't know if you have noticed but the U has a way of producing pretty good NFL athletes, but he has been knocked for taking plays off and not living up the the hype that followed him coming out of high school but his athletic ability is unquestioned, and with production last year as a junior with 11 TFL and 7 sacks, with another good year he could go in round 1 but if he was available the Rams shouldn't pass on him. He is also versatile as he often slides inside to play rush DT, something that will make him a very attractive option to Spags. NFL player comparison: Justin Tuck

Romeus also is an attractive pick, he is enormous, it would be nice to see the rams add a long DE, He is 6'5". He is a pure rush DE.

Either pick would be a good fit.

but the Rams need an offense playmaker so I see them choosing a RB, so my pick would be Vereen.

Round 3: D-line, Adrian Taylor DT Oklahoma, Cameron Jordan DE Cal

RB: Noel Divine West Virginia, Jacquizz Rodgers Oregon State, Evan Royster Penn State

S: Blake Gideon Texas, Jeron Johnson Boise State

Ok if we haven't drafted a WR in rounds 1 or 2 that will threaten defenses we better just by the bricks for the wall defenses will be building that SJax will continue to have to run through.

The pick should be: Adrian Taylor DT Oklahoma, with Fred Robbins knowing the system it would be a good time to select a DT early, who can also rush the QB and be the eventual successor to Robbins. With the continued development of Ryan and Scott, the Rams could stand to become more athletic at the DT position. Taylor is coming off an injury (broken leg, nothing of the ACL type) will slide, but he is an early round 2 late round 1 type player. If he is available the Rams should draft him. NFL player comparison: Tommie Harris

If we skip a RB in round 2 and go D-line I like Divine from West Virginia, reminds me of a Darren Sproles type who would be a serious change of pace coming in after the defense has been trying to tackle the 6'2" 245 pound man-bear-alien-monster that is Steven Jackson.

Safety, Jeron Johnson was all over the place in the VT game, he looked very good and could rise up draft boards as Boise continues to win. Blake Gideon is big and fast and could be a possibility in round 3 for the rams if he doesn't go sooner.

So in my opinion these are some of the players who we should all be keeping an eye on during the college football season, I really think next years draft will be the year Billy Devaney finds some guys who can make big time plays. The players listed here have been making plays in college and would all be welcome additions to the Rams. I will do another one of these later in the college football season to update how my projections are panning out as well as add some players who have emerged as the season progresses.

Round 2: WR: Austin Pettis, Boise State, Evan Broyles, Oklahoma

D-line: Allen Bailey DE/DT Miami, Greg Romeus DE Pitt, Da'Quan Bowers DE Clemson.

RB: Shane Vereen RB Cal, Demarco Murray RB Oklahoma
