Disco to Omaha! Disco to Omaha!

According to KCSP's Greg Schaum, the Royals have promoted reliever Chris 'Disco' Hayes to AAA Omaha. Hayes will join the O-Royals as they embark on their annual 2+ week road trip during the College World Series.

Hayes, 26, was off to a dominating start in his second season at AA Northwest Arkansas, posting a 0.98 ERA in 18 relief appearances, and has only walked six batters all season. He did not allow a single earned run in the month of May.

Hayes will hopefully alleviate some of the frustrating results the Omaha bullpen has created in this past month. The team certainly needs a boost - they've won just seven of their last 30 games, and many of those losses were attributed to the bullpen.

This is supposed to be a list of the Top 15 MLB blogs. Several team-specific SB Nation blogs are on the list, but not Royals Review. There's an invitation at the end of the post to make suggestions as to which blogs should have been included, so go make an argument for Royals Review! We were snubbed!

"Just got word from Greg Schaum...
To fill a void left by Mitch Maier being in the Majors and Shane Costa and Chris Lubanski being on the disabled list, outfielder Jose Duarte has been promoted to Omaha, effective right...now.

The 24-year-old Duarte was batting .250 in 28 games at Northwest Arkansas with 3 doubles, a triple, no homers, 18 walks ans 25 strikeouts.

The Royals have using Brayan Pena, Cory Aldridge and Ed Lucas, along with regular CF Tommy Murphy to get by while Lubanski and Costa are on the mend. Duarte will presumably join the team in Salt Lake City, where they begin a 4-game series with the Bees (Angels AAA team) tonight."
-Me, the breaker of stories.

"The Royals announced on Tuesday that Pena cleared outright waivers and has been assigned to their Triple-A Omaha club.

Pena was designated for assignment on April 24 when Jose Guillen came off the disabled list. The Royals liked Pena and were apprehensive that, in a catcher-thin market, he might be claimed off waivers, but he was not. "

Disco Hayes makes a case for using Opp. OPS instead of WHIP

I've given up 14 hits...all for singles. I've only walked 2 batters in 10.2 innings. Opponents are slugging (and hitting) .304 off me and their on-base percentage is .327. That makes an OOPS of .631 which sounds a lot better than a 1.5 WHIP. I haven't thrown well this year, I'll be the first to admit it. I'm not trying to make up a stat to think otherwise, but I think I have limited damage by keeping the hits to singles and it got me to thinking maybe there's something to this.

This is the kind of stuff I was really excited for when the Disco blog first started. Hey stat guys....thoughts?

Game 14 Overflow Thread

Through six innings, the offense has looked sort of feeble. Check that - they've looked incredibly feeble. The pressure has been on Bannister all night, with only a one-run cushion with which to work. Will it be enough? Will the Royals bats ever come through? On a scale of 1-10, how gushy will the next edition of JoePo's BannyLog be?

I need more words now, so here's some lyrics:

There ain't no morals to these stories at all
And everything I tell you, you can bet will be a lie
I been away from the living, I don't need to be forgiven
I'm just waiting for that cold black sun-cracked numb-inside soul of mine
....to come alive

We crossed the 600-comment threshold, while (im)patiently waiting for Thporquie and the Gang to put up some kind of offense in thupport of Thir Thidney Ponthon.

And then, as if the game wasn't aggravating enough, Will's promise of an overflow thread at 2:30 did not materialize, and we were all left to wander around, asking random women "Are You My Mommy?" The women were not amused.

I think I need a few more words here, so here are more words. Is that enough? YES!

Are you guys gonna buy one? There's a couple of sample pages here. I've seen about a hundred pages of it, including a lively foreward by Joe Posnanski, and it's pretty cool stuff. Really, it's just neat to have that much page space devoted to the Royals specifically, and Clark and Craig know their stuff.

Plus, RoyalsRetro makes an appearance!
