Anthony Davis Foreshadowing?
[From the FanShots - R]
A sign of things to come or wishful thinking?
Rebrand ideas
These are some really great ideas posted in a fan design contest on ESPN. My favorites are the Krewe, Steamers, and Pelicans. I haven't really heard Steamers as a nickname, and I fell in love with the logo. The colors could use some work though. I really like the Jester hat with the net on the Krewe logo too. A lot of great ideas. (A lot better than Angels and Spirit)
Ownership rumors/news
More ownership rumors/news. Chouest, Benson. Bhathal all apparently in play. So ready for this deal to be done. Feels like the Chris Paul trade all over again. Just get it over with so we can begin to move forward.
Saints sign LB Curtis Lofton to 5 year contract
Per the Saints twitter
Bountygate, Brees, etc.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I HATE the offseason. First the vicodin, then Drew Brees' contract issues, now Bounty-gate. Can we just get back to playing football? Oh well, since we're stuck here in this hellhole of an offseason, I decided to give my opinions on the topics.
Hornets no longer looking to trade Kaman
Apparently, Kaman might stick around a little longer.
My thoughts on the offseason
With the season coming to an end this Sunday following the Superbowl, it's time to focus on the offseason. There's been some talk about who we should re-sign, who we should pursue in FA, and what we should do in the draft. I'm going to take a look at all of this and give my opinion (for what it's worth) on each subject.
Jamal Mashburn wants to be a part-owner of the Hornets
[Bumped from the FanShots. This is pretty awesome - R]
I thought this was kind of interesting and could make a cool story. More importantly, there are people out there that still want to own the Hornets
Hornets sign Gustavo Ayon
Okafor, Kaman, Landry and Ayon? That could be one hell of a front court
Here we go again
Saints win. Losing team calls us dirty. I can live with that
EA Sports has Ingramania!!!
EA Sports has announced the cover athlete for NCAA 12. MARK INGRAM!!! Ingramania is in full force
The curse of the black pants...revisited
Some of you may remember my post during the season about the curse of the black pants. In that post, I went over the Saints win-loss record while wearing their different uniform combinations. These stats showed that maybe there was something to this "curse" after all. I decided to revisit this topic, factoring in the final 14 games of the 2010 season (not included in original post), to change things up from all the draft and lockout talk.
Hall of Fame Announcement-Open Thread
On the eve of the Super Bowl, we hear the announcement of the Hall of Fame Class of 2011. The Saints might not be able to get the Two Dat Super Bowl, but we can still get a Two Dat, in the HOF. Willie Roaf is eligible for the first time and deserves to get in, imo. Other first time finalists include Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, Curtis Martin and Deion Sanders. I think the class should be as follows: Willie Roaf, Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Charles Haley, and either Shannon Sharpe or Chris Carter. I still think Andre Reed should get in too, but its hard to put him in over some of these other guys. Maybe over Haley, but Haley has 5 SB rings.
If anyone else is watching, I'd like to hear from you
Block the lockout
For those of you who may not have heard, today is Let Us Play Day. NFL players from across the league are trying to spread the word to us, the fans, to unite in their cause. Let's spread the word. It's really just trying to get both sides of this issue to work out a new deal.
You can sign a petition here. You can also help by simply spreading the word.
Just thought I would pass this along.
Vikings in trade talks with Patriots for Moss
Will this move make the Vikings legitimate contenders again in the NFC? Looks like a team desperate to win while they're in the Brett Favre window.
Curse of the black pants...the TRUTH.
There's been a lot of talk here at CSC about the Saints black pants being cursed. This topic has been talked about for the past few years. Rumors and half-truths have spread like wildfire. I have never thought much of it. However, I decided to put all of the rumors to rest and do a little research. I was very surprised to see the results and have reached a conclusion.
WE MUST NEVER WEAR BLACK PANTS. MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE MUST NEVER WEAR BLACK PANTS WITH BLACK JERSEYS.
The facts after the jump.

Gris Gris Man, this one's for you
I found this fanpost on the Daily Norseman. I thought it was funny. They can't compete with the real thing. Nobody does it better. Gris Gris Man is the greatest spell caster today. New Orleans is the land of voodoo, home of Marie Laveau. On Thursday, the Vikings spells and their play on the field will end up being subpar to ours. GGM, I look forward to your spells each week, I think they are hilarious. The fact that other teams fans are trying to imitate you is ridiculous. How can you compete with greatness. Props to you GGM.
P.S. This message isn't meant to stir up the Vikings fans vs. Saints fans debate. Nor is it intended to offend anyone really. I just wanted to give props to GGM. I love the spells, no one does it better imo.
Who makes the team?
The fourth and final preseason game has just wrapped up, and there are still a lot of questions to be answered. Is Casillas the answer at OLB? Who is our #2 QB? What do we do with Adrian Arrington?
Final cuts are Saturday, where the roster gets trimmed down to the final 53-man roster. It seems like every year there is a surprise cut or two. A few years ago, it was Joe Horn. Last year, it was Deuce. This year, maybe it's Darren Sharper. Who knows?
A few of the main questions that need to be answered after the jump
Remember when we played the Colts?
No, I'm not talking about that game. I'm talking about the season opener back in 2007. Anybody remember that game? If you're like most of us, you'd rather not remember. We were fresh off our greatest season in history and expectations were high. The Colts were fresh off a Super Bowl win. Everyone thought this game would be a Super Bowl matchup.
In the first half, our newly signed free agent cornerback was looking like a stud, with a forced fumble, which he recovered and took to the house. After the second half, and for the next 2 seasons, all he ever looked like was burnt toast. We were playing in their house. We were horrifically outmatched, outplayed, and outcoached in that game. We lost 41-10.
Do you remember? Remember how you felt?
HOW SWEET DOES IT FEEL TO BE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THAT??
WE are the team that is fresh off a Super Bowl win. WE are the home team. Every team in the NFL is looking up at US. That gut-wrenching 2007 game is a distant memory, all but forgotten by Saints fans. Remember that game against the Colts? YES, that game. That 31-17 victory in the Super Bowl. Our stud corner had that pick 6 to ice the game. That did happen. It is reality. WE open the season at our house, with our fans, with our team. Last season we finally learned what it feels like, and in my opinion, this season, the rest of the league will know, without a shadow of a doubt, that this is
OUR TIME!!!! WE ARE FOR REAL!!! WE WON'T JUST FOLD OVER BECAUSE IT'S HARD TO REPEAT!!! WE'RE GONNA REPEAT BECAUSE IT'S HARD TO REPEAT. BECAUSE AS HARD AS IT IS TO REPEAT, IT'S HARDER TO STOP US FROM REPEATING!!!!!!!!
WHO DAT!!! TWO DAT!!!!

Collison for Ariza...Good or bad?
So, apparently, the Hornets have acquired Trevor Ariza from the Rockets in a four team trade. In this trade, the Hornets sent Darren Collison and James Posey to the Pacers. I was kind of hoping we could keep Collison based on the Chris Paul uncertainty. What I mean to say is, I was hoping we could keep Collison in case Chris Paul continually demands for a trade or leaves via free agency in two years. I'm not sure if getting Ariza was good enough to trade Collison, however, I am assuming that trading Posey and Collison will open up a little more wiggle room under the luxury tax.
Let me know what you guys think. Was this a good deal or a bad one?
Going to a Drew Brees book signing tomorrow in Houma
Is anybody else going to be there? You had to get a ticket today so if you didn't already you're too late. Sorry I didn't spread the word sooner. I'm curious to see if anybody over here at CSC will be there. Hope to see you there. I'm SUPER PUMPED to meet the SUPER BOWL CHAMP in the morning!!! If I get a chance to ask him a quick question, does anyone have any ideas? I'll pick the best question in the comments and if I remember and I don't get too star struck and start stuttering, I'll ask him and post his answer in the comments.
Who's on your team?
OTAs are over, and it's over a month away from training camp, so I decided I wanted to see your opinions on this topic. If you could pick a team of current NFL players, what would that team look like? You can have any style defense, 3-4, 4-3, whatever. You can keep as many RBs and receivers as you wish. See my team after the jump.
I'm sensing a theme, and I like it
With the last pick in the first round of the draft, the Saints took everybody by surprise and drafted a corner. I was as shocked as everyone else, but after thinking about it for a while, I started to like the pick. Also, I noticed a common theme as mentioned in the title. More after the jump.

Latest mock drafts
Suddenly have us drafting secondary players in the 1st round. This whole offseason, we've talked about shoring up our front seven on defense. DT, DE, OLB, and suddenly the mock drafts are saying that the secondary is the weakest part of our defense. With Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer healthy, our secondary was outstanding. Granted that was with Darren Sharper playing lights out as well. At best, I think we can use depth at corner in the mid rounds.
Sports Illustrateds Peter King says Devin Mccourty.
NFPost.com says Taylor Mays of all people.
And Pro Football Weekly says Patrick Robinson, the corner out of Florida State.
I was wondering what the rest of you think.
Tim Tebow to the Saints
At least thats what Charles davis thinks in his latest mock draft. I just lost all respect for Charles Davis. This guy gets paid to do this stuff and thats what he came up with!!!! Unbelievable. Everson Griffen was still available and he picks Tebow. He also thinks that they would keep him at quarterback, not move him to TE or anything. I guess we should trade Brees now, while we can still get something for him a la Mcnabb. Maybe that 5th round pick we traded away last year. I think a Drew Brees for a 5th round pick sounds reasonable......to Charles Davis.
Former Bears DE Alex Brown to visit Saints on Tuesday
I have already commented that I would like to see Brown sign a deal with the Saints. A lot of Bears fans were sorry to see him go and felt like he was the better player than the guy replacing him. I think he could take pressure off of Will Smith. He's a guy with a high motor, great character, and an outstanding work ethic. I hope they get a deal done. This would also take pressure off of them to draft a starter at DE in the draft, they can focus on another position in the 1st and maybe 2nd round.
Who would you pick?
In the upcoming draft. I'm curious to see who the Who Dat Nation thinks we should pick in the upcoming NFL draft. I personally would like to see Sean Weatherspoon come to the Saints, but I don't want to limit it to the first round. We have a couple of draft picks this year (more than last year anyway) and you can include undrafted free agents. Another guy I'd like to see who might not get drafted is Stafon Johnson, the running back from USC. It's your turn, I wanna know what you think, what are our needs and who do we pick.
