Big Blue View Should GMEN Remain Humble...All Except For Rolle?

I'm not sure I agree with everyone that criticizes Rolle for talking. He supposedly talked out of line after Indy wooping and Tennessee debacle. It sure seemed to put spark in the GMen. Someone has to speak up. Strahan spoke up, AP spoke up. A. Rolle is the new guy who is speaking up like other leaders have. He will wind up the designated Giants LEADER by years end. I know everyone will say speaking up is good but not bragging. I 'm just glad SOMEONE is stepping up to be the voice of the GMen. And, his play on the field is putting up, so until he's not producing, no need to shut him up. I believe we have found one of our team leaders.

Big Blue View NFC East...Throw away the stats, who's playing bad or good.......

We all know that when the NFC East teams get together your getting hard hitting close football games.....
Last year we won two games against the Cowboys, even when our defense was playing its worse football. This is a dangerous game for the GMen. Dallas has their backs against the wall and are desperately in need of a win. And they are in Dallas. What do we need to do to give ourselves a chance in this game.... We have to control the clock by running the football. We need to keep the big play guys off the field, ie; Romo, Austin, Jones, Witten. The Giant DLine has to keep up the pressure against a suspect OLine in Dallas, and Eli has to play error free. With all that, it will still play out to be a close hard fought matchup. Or would you prefer a shootout?

Big Blue View Does Past History Stats Really Affect The Outcome of A Game?

Week 6 has the GMen going against Detriot Lions. While the GMen are 1-1 in the last two meetings, a Giant win at 16-10 and a Detriot victory in "04" 28-13. I remember that game when Joey Harrington lit up the GMen. Because Detroit has not covered the spread in 6 staight games that came before their bye week (Detriot next: Bye Week) and the Giants are 1-4 in the last 5 games against the spread playing Detroit, what do we make of the stats. Do you believe the outcome of a game is affected by these stats? If so, who comes out a winner here?

Big Blue View Will the Secondary be the strength in 2010.

After a dismal 2009 where the secondary reminded you of a less than good pop warner football team, are the Gmen on track to have, barring injury, one of the best secondary's in the NFL.

Big Blue View The 2010 Giants, Contender or 2009 all over??

The Giants as we all know are coming off a hugely disappointing season for a lot of reasons. O-Line, D-Line, Secondary, Backfield, Special teams. The offense, even  though at times they were just as bad, was the only positive aspect of the team most of the time. So I ask you, with the off season moves, the draft, coaching changes, the developement of the young players, maybe a better team attitude and being again put in an underdog position, where do you see the 2010 Giants?

Playoff contender or bust?

Big Blue View What D-Line Combo will be Most Effective for G-Men

The Giants appear to be loaded with talented D-Lineman. The reality of it though is only four (4-3 D) can play at once. My belief is Tuck is the only no doubt about it starter in my eyes. If you were to put together your starting four, who would they be. Fewell has hinted that he likes to keep his starters in the game without all the constant switching. Who is up to the challenge of a full game. Would you be creative enough to put Osi, Tuck, Kiwi, and Pierre-Paul in at the same time. Do you think Joseph or Pierre-Paul will see significant time. Who's your top 4?

Big Blue View If the Giants made any moves at the end of the 2009 season...

that will bring them back to respectability, which do you believe will prove to be most important?

1.) The hiring of defensive coordinator Perry Fewell. How important was the move to bring in Fewell? His ball hawking, attack style of defense, ability to create turnovers and reputation for pass defense is amongst the best. Could that alone lift the GMen over the hump and back to being an elite Defense?

2.) The drafting of John-Pierre Paul as the # 1 pick for the GMen and 15th overall to bolster a seemingly weak pass rush in "09" Will he have the opportunity to make an impact in 2010. If so, will he be successful? Or will he be relegated to special teams, and situational playing time while watching Osi, Tuck and Kiwi have a breakout year?

3.) The maturing of Eli Manning. Will Eli continue to show improvement and become considered one of the elite QB's in the NFL? Was last season just a fluke in which Eli had his best statistical season of his career? Can Eli bring the potentially potent Giant offense to the next level and make the difference whether they are still playing  when the post season arrives?

4.) The signing of Antrel Rolle, Deon Grant, the drafting of Chad Jones and the rehab of Kenny Phillips. With a healthy Phillips and the others acquired during the off-season, are the moves to strengthen the safety position the key to the defense's success in 2010 and a trip to post season?

5.) Is the D-Line collectively the most important element to this Giant team to get them back to the playoffs? With the drafting of Linval Joseph, the re-signing of Barry Cofield, the return of Jay Alford, the resurgence of Canty and Bernard along with our host of D Ends, can this be the key to success for the Giants in 2010?

Big Blue View Giants Biggest Failure Over the Last 20 Years-Linebackers

Since 1990 the New York Giants have drafted 23 Linebackers. Out of the 23, I can name  a handfull that you may have heard of. The most notable was Jesse Armstead who was drafted 207th overall in the 8th round of the 1993 draft and went on to become an All-Pro MLB. Ryan Phillips was a good LB and played on the 2000 Superbowl team. Reggie Torbor was the 97th pick overall 4th rounder in 2004, won a Superbowl with the Giants in 2007-08 and then signed with Miami. Aside form those guys we have had  household names like Quincy Monk, Wesley Mallard, OJ Childress, Doug Coleman, Scott Gaylon, Marcus Biuckley, Tommy Thigpen, Kanavis McGhee, Anthony Moss, and Corey Miller. Recognize anyone. Yeh, there was Brandon Short and Dhani Jones who were OK, drafted in the 2000 Superbowl year.

The Giants have not had a successful LB produced by the NFL draft in a decade that stayed long. The following guys are included in the 23 LB's and are the likes of Goff, Kehl, Wilkinson, Blackburn, Dillard, Sintim, and Adrian Tracy. There is undrafted free agents Lee Campbell and Micah Johnson , and theres  Zak DeOssie who will never be a starter. So what is the chance that one of these guys has All Pro potential. How about in the middle. Who grabs the MLB spot. Are we just loaded with mediocre talent at MLB ? Did we miss the bus in free agency this year? Any believers out there that we have the guy on the roster or are we loaded with the same drafted non-existent talent as in the past.

Big Blue View What Needs to Change With the Offense in 2010.

I have nightmares remembering Sunday, November 8th 2009, Giants and San Diego. Giants, first and goal from the 4 yard line with just over 3 minutes left. Holding on Snee, ball on the 14. Three straight rushes and settle for 3. My question was; Why didn't Gilbride try and put the game away. No calls to the endzone. It was like, lets run three times and kick a field goal instead of "Eli, hit one of your four sure targets and put this game away. MM, Boss, SS or Nicks. My worst fears for 2010 is that same mindset. Settle instead of going for the jugular. While we have drafted to improve the D, which I have no doubt will be vastly improved, I'm more concerned with the Offense, and not because we don't have the talent. With the year Eli had in "09" they should have still been an over .500 team regardless of the poor performance by the defense. My concern is whether Gilbride is going to step up and utilize all the great talent we do have. Gilbride needs to try and add some creativity in his sometimes rediculously predicatble play calling. I can even hear the opponents defensive players sometimes laughing at the play calling. I don't think Gilbride lasts another year after this one if some things don't come together on the offensive side of the ball.
