When asked the same question, Minaya said the team would not make any more major signings.

Corn King was some sponsor at the Mets' origin who promised to give 50,000 Corn King cards (whatever those are) to any Mets pitcher who threw a no-no. Supposedly this arrogance has cursed them ever since.
