Silver And Black Pride Free Agents and Trades

Do you think the Raiders should pursue any free agents or make any trades this offseason? They already did very well in resigning Nnamdi, Shane, and Chris Johnson, but they have obvious needs at the O-line, D-line, and WR positions. Who do you think can be the best fit for this team? Albert Haynesworth? T.J. Houshmanzadeh? Are there any trades they should look into? Don't be hesitant to post in the comments.

Go to the 4th bullet point; one year with 3 options? Very intriguing.

Minor League Ball C.C. declines Yanks offer?

Link Wow. So the teams in the running for C.C. are the Brewers (the frontrunners), the Giants (the darkhorse) and maybe the Angels. But remember, this is an unconfirmed rumor, so what do you think about it?

Athletics Nation Idea

Billy Beane is a smart guy. He's probably one of the smartest guys that I have met. He's probably brewing up something as we speak. Do any of you see anything similar between the Swisher, Haren, and Harden trades? He traded an established player for minor leaguers who are ready for the major league level. Maybe he was thinking that he could get those prospects up in the Majors and showcase them for the next team that noticed them. In the Haren trade, the A's acquired Greg Smith. They showcased him for 1 season and turned around and traded him again. Same thing happened with Carlos Gonzalez. They showcased him for 1 season and traded him. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that at the end of this season, Beane trades Holliday for some MLB ready prospects. What do you guys think?

The Giants cut all three, which surprises me since Hennessey looked pretty good in his outings, and Correia was a pretty solid reliever.

Giants purchase contracts of Villalona and Rodriguez
09/08/2008 8:05 AM ET
San Francisco Giants

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- The San Francisco Giants have been making a great deal of noise with the rapid ascension of some top prospects, and they have made two stunning announcements today. The club announced that it has purchased the contracts of 17-year old first basemen Angel Villalona and 15-year old dominican outfielder Rafael Rodriguez.

The move is being made with an eye towards the future, said senior vice president, general manager and heavilly goateed Brian Sabean. "Angel and Rafael have a great deal of talent and both are from the dominican, which as we all know greatly accelerates aging. We feel that both of these kids can make an impact right away, and that between snacktime and naps that they can really show us what they are made of for next year and beyond."

In a supplemental move, Sabean suggested that the club may also bring up talented yet raw outfielder Wendell Fairley, citing the need for someone to drive Angel and Rafael around.

When asked his impression on the moves, Giants skipper Bruce Bochy was cautious in his wording. "We'll see what they can do. I am hoping that we make a play for an experienced bat like Julio Franco in the offseason to give Angel some competition."

Even though Villalona is still in low A ball, and Rodriguez has yet to play a professional game, Sabean thought that it was time to make the jump for both of them.

"We sat down and said to ourselves, if we bring up Rafeal now we can get 15 years out of him before we have stunted his development so badly that he can't even hold a bat without throwing up," said the always stried shirt wearing Sabean. "Our mismanagement, and his lack of production due to the horrible circumstances we will put him in, will represent a great value for the club in that we will have an affordable outfielder for over a decade."

When asked by one reporter if he was concerned about recent questions of possibly stunting the development of key young talent, Sabean responded that he was not.

"I have always done my job based on the baseball card mentality," said the heavyset GM. "You look at someones stats, and no matter their age, old or young, you have to believe that they will repeat them in the big leagues. Angel would be leading our team in home runs, and Rafael was hitting an incredible .873 with 1.098 OPS in his backyard league."

Silver And Black Pride Reche Caldwell

Reche Caldwell was cut today, and seeing that the Raiders really need some receivers, why not sign him? He could be a number 2 or 3 receiver to complement Curry and Walker, and he could provide another weapon for JaMarcus. He could give him a good long play threat, like Drew Carter was before he went down, and could probably put in 6 TD's and 550 yards. He could be an impact player for the Raiders.

McCovey Chronicles TEIXEIRA TO THE ANGELS

Just got word that Mark Teixeira is heading to the Angels for Casey Kotchman and minor league pitching prospect Steven Marek.Link

This should make the Angels a force to be reckoned with, giving them a decent power hitter alongside Vladimir Guerrero. They have everything to win the World Series now: Speed, Power, Starting Pitching, Relief Pitching, and a good coach. Teixeira gives them power, average, a little bit of speed, and a good fielder.

McCovey Chronicles Giants future rotation and position players???

Hey guys, I'm new to the site.

I was thinking about what the Giants position players and rotation would look like in the future

Rotation:

Tim Lincecum

Matt Cain

Jonathan Sanchez

TIm Alderson

Madison Bumgarner

Position Players:

Outfield: Fred Lewis, Antoan Richardson, John Bowker

Infield: Buster Posey, Angel Villalona, Eugenio Velez, Emmanuel Burriss, Kevin Frandsen

In my opinion, thats a pretty good team. The only problem is that we don't have enough power, since villalona is the only power bat on that team.
