Posting and Toasting So let's play the Fire D'Antoni game

Yes, we're all pissed off. We'd all rather poke out our eyes than watch another performance like last night against the Bobcats. But we're going to watch the game against the Wizards. Because we're fans. Because we care about the team and want it to do well. That much I know. People here might not always see eye to eye, but we're all pulling for the Knicks.

With that being said, the Fire D'Antoni chants will start coming. The team won't find a defensive identity overnight, and they'll continue to be hard to watch for the next month or more. Slowly but surely, more and more people are going to start to get disgusted by the team's performance. Which is why I made this thread.

Posting and Toasting Should the Knicks try to run a triangle offense?

Note: This is purely hypothetical, I am in no way advocating that D'Antoni switches to the triangle offense, with which he has basically no experience. Take it as a fictional piece that should have been submitted for the Knicktion contest we had over the summer, not as something I'd try to force Pringles to read.

Mike-dantoni-playoffs_medium

Our beloved Knickerbockers, as we all know, are in desperate need of an identity on offense. As we've all read and heard in the past couple of days:

"D'Antoni needs a PG!"

"Nash is what made him so good! He's nothing without an elite PG!!"

So why not try something different while we wait for St. Davis to be our savior in "4-8 weeks" ? Why not the triangle offense?

Posting and Toasting Pritchard taken: Ed Stefanski an option?

Pritchard, the former Portland Trail Blazers general manager, was on Donnie Walsh's short list of GM candidates to work under him if he was to return as team president, according to multiple sources. After Walsh decided not to return, Pritchard was still considered a strong candidate for the job.

Another name being whispered as another candidate of interest is 76ers GM Ed Stefanski.

Posting and Toasting Vince Carter and other veteran FA's

They won't trade Vince Carter's contract, opting instead to buy him out for $4 million in the coming days.

So Vince Carter will apparently be available as a free agent once the new CBA gets worked out. What does that mean for the Knicks? Should we give him a shot at veteran's minimum?

Yes, the deal is hard so swallow. I know. It seems extremely short-sighted and rips at our heart. But let's establish a few facts before I move forward in this article. Jump!

Posting and Toasting Knicks hire Warkentien

The deal isn't finalized yet, but the Knicks are about to sign former Denver GM, Mark Warkentien, as a consultant. He was named executive of the year in 2009 and was let go after Denver owner Stan Kroenke decided to promote his son, Josh Kroenke.

Posting and Toasting Let's stop

Please guys. I've been lurking here since 08/09, so I know exactly what we've had to go through in order to be in this place. We've gone from the laughing-stock of the NBA to a team that everybody's starting to respect and take notice of. Now why don't some of you want to trade for Melo?

The Metrodome roof collapsed. The game's already been pushed back to Monday, so I'm guessing this news can be taken either way. Nicks and Smith get more time to heal up, but this is going to make our schedule completely chaotic.

Posting and Toasting Too soon to call for D'Antoni's head?

We were projected to be an 8th seed at the worst, even by ESPN. We have Amar'e Stoudemire in the paint every single and yet are forcing him to go 1-on-5 every time Felton runs the PnR.  Jump for some more loosely scattered ramblings about our team.

Posting and Toasting A few thoughts after our home-opener

Well,we're 1-2. Maybe the start some of you predicted, but definitely not the one we were hoping for. We have Orlando coming up and Dwight Howard's shadow is looming, which is even worse news. Take the jump for some early thoughts about our rebuilt Knicks.

Pinstripe Alley How the Yankees can beat C.Lee

Well, the 5-game series is over. The Rays are out of the playoffs and are probably looking at their last season as a contender for a long time. But, more importantly, the Yankees know the name of their next playoff opponent-the Texas Rangers. And I'd like to take a little time to talk about their ace, Cliff Lee. Jump!

Yes, the rumors are here. Chris Paul is on the trading block, demanding a trade from New Orleans. We're one of his top teams on his wishlist. And we're hesitant to trade for him?!

Posting and Toasting Knicks will look to package Chandler in a trade

So after the Warriors deal, where we essentially clogged up the SG spot, news is Walsh wouldn't be opposed to trading Curry's contract to get a shooter. He'd have to pack it with another player, and sources say that player would most likely be Chandler. Make no mistake, he's not on the trading block, but the Knicks are exploring options to get a big-shooter with an expiring deal, most likely Tayshaun Prince, Troy Murphy or Mike Dunleavy. I don't like the deal, seeing as we have enough shooters already, and can package the deal for a seriously good player like Carmelo or Tony Parker should San Antonio or Denver want to clear up cap room. Curry is a huge asset, and I wouldn't want to see it getting used like this. The guys would make us an even better team, but we can get SO MUCH more for Curry's deal that I'd like Walsh to keep him for now. What do you guys think?

Posting and Toasting So what now?

LeBron didn't join, and the "Big 3" are going to win a few championships. Meanwhile, we got ourselves Amar'e and Randolph, among others. So what do we do with the remaining cap? Donnie kept saying it was for flexibility, and now that LeBron has signed elsewhere, I'm liking the idea of being able to chase a few more free agents. So what do we do now?

Posting and Toasting Wade and Bosh to Chicago-Best possible scenario?

So with all the talk of us signing Amar'e (should I call him STAT?), whether or not it helps us as a solitary acquisition, whether it's an upgrade over Lee or whether he was worth the commitment, it seems some people have stopped watching the steps of the other marquee FA's.

Pinstripe Alley Oh Curtis, you're something sort of Grandish???

Is John Sterling serious? Honestly, I think we as loyal members of Pinstripe Alley need to change the home-run slogan. Nobody listening to 880 wants it said 30-times a season(I'm being optimistic here). So what do you guys recommend? What should be Granderson's home-run slogan?

I'll start off: "A Graaand hit from Curtis Granderson."

If you can say "Oh Cano, don't you know", then I think mine is fine. What do you guys recommend?

Pinstripe Alley It's only spring training people!

No, there's no way you can say the Granderson trade was bad because Granderson has a sub-par BA and Jackson is hitting the ball well. No, there's no way Nick Johnson wins the AL MVP with a .900 slugging percentage and Cano hits .393 throughout the whole season. That's why it's called spring training.

Pinstripe Alley Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera: The Best Yankees of All-Time?

Ruth. DiMaggio. Mantle. Gehrig. These are the names that are tossed around in most conversations when referring to the mighty greats who played in the legendary Yankee Stadium. Called shots, hitting streaks or simply "Iron-Horse" like endurance-these players have solidified their place in Yankee and baseball history. But is there somebody we are forgetting, some players who should be mentioned along side and with as much reverence as the Yankee greats of old? Or maybe they're even better. I'm talking about Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter.

Pinstripe Alley What are your fantasy baseball projections?

So obviously I don't want you to rate the top 100, but what's your top 10 heading into next year's fantasy season? Are you putting big value into the players heading into free agency next year? Expecting comebacks from injured players?

Here's mine:

1. Albert Pujols

2. Hanley Ramirez

3. Ryan Braun

4. Alex Rodriguez

5. Miguel Cabrera

6. Prince Fielder

7. Evan Longoria

8. Matt Kemp

9. Grady Sizemore

10. Carl Crawford

Pinstripe Alley Crazy 6-Man rotation idea

This one's inspired by LordDuggan's post about a 6 man rotation. Many people disagreed with it for the obvious reason that it takes away starts from our good pitchers and gives it to the lesser deserving Joba/Hughes. But if we really don't want to stunt the growth of our two future stars and put them into the starting rotation together, here's what I propose we do:

Pinstripe Alley Move one team from NL to AL?

I read about this idea somewhere (so I'm not pretending to take credit for it), but the NL has 2 more teams than the AL. Which means that any AL team has a 14% bigger chance of making it to the play-offs. I know the AL has more quality teams, which is why we almost always win Interleague-Play and the ASG, but out of mathematical fairness, it would be a fair thing to do. Of course, it might take some getting used to, but it evens out the leagues and might resolve the "Well, we have a six team division!" cries.

So who would you move over? I'd personally take one team from the 6-team NL Central and move them to the NL West (Houston?). Would you do it at all?

Pinstripe Alley Would you trade A-Rod for Longoria?

Evan Longoria, the up-and-coming baseball star against Alex Rodriguez, with 8 years left on his contract and approaching an inevitable decline. In a hypothetical trade situation between the Devil Ray's and Yankees, would you trade our 3rd baseman for their 3rd baseman upfront? If the Rays didn't take it, how much of A-Rod's salary would you be willing to offer the Ray's? If YOU acting as the Yankees GM don't like the trade, what would you want as extra from the Rays?

Obviously this is all hypothetical, and I'm not asking Cashman to consider it, but it struck me as something interesting.

Pinstripe Alley Pitching camp this summer in N.Y?

Hey,

Anybody know of a good pitching camp in NY or the Tristate Area (as close to Yonkers as possible)? I'm a pitcher from Europe, and I'm coming to the states this summer, so I wanted to have somebody look at my pitching or give me a few pointers.  Anybody know of something? Maybe a AAA, AA pitching coach, or a camp (I've already written that :D)

Thanx for anything, much appreciated

Pinstripe Alley E.R.A, W/L vs. another team

In my opinion, this statistic is not good at all.

Look at Burnett, wasn't he 5-0 vs. the Red Sox before last night, with an excellent game? I know everybody can be a general after the war, but teams change, batters change, and pitchers have either good/bad form. I just got a strange feeling when some of the moderator's posted that they think not having Joba pitch against the Red Sox is ok, since Burnett is filthy against them. I'm pretty sure it would've been a completely different game had Joba pitched (remember last year's game?)

What do you think, what's the best/worst statistic for a pitcher going into a game?

Pinstripe Alley Even though it doesn't look it...

...the Yankee situation is slowly becoming better. CC has gone for 2 straight excellent games, the bullpen has held up in the last two games, and the Yanks have won two straight series, one of them against the best team in the AL East.

Matsui has come back with a bang, our starting shortstop is back. The Yankees are .500, and yet almost everybody except Damon and Cabrera are having sub-par seasons (Swisher's cooled off too).

So all I'm saying is calm down, yes there are a lot of problems, but everything's coming together slowly. All we have to keep doing is winning series...
