Roll 'Bama Roll Rumor from Jox

Hearing on Jox that Cyrus is concerned with his rep among Bama fans. Not sure if it's true or not, but regardless I think

we should show the love to Cyrus. Like I said, just what I have heard, but it won't hurt to show the big man that we want

him in Crimson. Just a tag line on the off chance that he reads the greatest Bama Blog of the all.

Cyrus, come to Bama and put your name in concrete next to Joe Namath and Chris Samuels

Roll 'Bama Roll Split Allegiances and Twitter Accounts

Alright everybody, hope the crew is all well and ready for the Holidays, but I have encountered quite the quandry. I have enrolled in the University of Southern California for my Masters coursework, starting in the spring. While my Crimson Tide devotion is unwaivered, I now must enter USC into the mix in some ways (Would be a lot easier of Hello Kiffin wasn't there). I bought a USC polo to use for my student teaching, a t-shirt and a visor that will work into my rotation with my Bama stuff. What is the protocol though? Do I always have to have some form of Crimson along with any Cardinal and Gold? Do I only wear the Cardinal when in direct USC related activities? I am in no way letting this cut into my Bama fandom, and honestly, I will probably just follow USC and watch the games when they don't interfer with the Tide, but with it being my Grad School, I'm kinda torn on how I should handle this.

Also lets do a Twitter round up, I follow Todd, Kleph, OTS, Bammer, and Nico. If anyone wants to follow me, i'm TRexMorris on the tweets.

Conquest Chronicles New 'SC Student

Hey there everyone. I am a new student in the January Cohort of the MAT@USC program. I am very excited about joining USC, and have tried very hard to research as much about the traditions of the University of Southern California. I came here looking for advice and info. I am a graduate of the University of Alabama, and have been a fan of the Crimson Tide my entire life. I'm glad to add USC to my resume, and become a part of the Trojan family. I'm trying to do research so I can be as up on USC athletics as possible. Any and all info and assitance in my learning curve will be greatly appreciated.

Fight On,

Kyle

Also, Bix I miss you at RBR, so maybe I can keep up with your antics here now.

Talking Chop First Braves Playoff Game at the Ted since '05... Roll Call

Alright guys, I figure that just about everyone within a reasonable driving distance will be there Sunday (I'm driving 3 hours for it, wouldn't miss it). I have a few things to ask.

1. Any idea on start times? MLB has the potential to have all 4 series going that day all scheduled to air on TBS. Could be a cluster of epic proportions

2. Does everyone figure Cox will give the ball to Thomas J. Hanson? I think it would be awesome to see Red in his first post season start in person.

3. Who all is going to be there, where are you tailgating before the game, and does TC want to have a meet up somewhere?

Go Braves.

Roll 'Bama Roll Catching up with everyone in the off season

Hey guys, I thought I would try to start something here in the summer that didn't involve USC or Manifest Destiny Expansion, and have everyone kinda tell personal accomplishments or things going on in their lives (like IHC800).....

I'll start (ok I wanna brag a little too) I've been coaching high school football for 5 years now, and have been working in the financial world since I graduated college. I have now moved on to working with Rick Rush Art (www.rickrushart.com, if anyone is interested in some stuff shoot me a line on here, and I'll work you up a RBR poster discount. A bit of a shameless plug, but all us love Tide-Art), and still coaching. I just have been busy with working things out, and just wanted to touch base with everyone. Been a long time. If we have any AHSAA coaches on here, drop me a line and maybe we can meet up at a conference or something.

Kinda cheesy I know, but I try to keep up with everyone late at night, I do miss being able to comment much.

Talking Chop Jason Heyward Nickname

Alright guys, I haven't posted in a while, so forgive me for the long slump, I've been reading religiously, but haven't had time to post. The Jay Hey Kid is one I've heard tossed around, but to me, Heyward is a cross between Shaq and Fred McGriff (You know the baseball superstar who endorses the back-to-back-to-back-to-back AAU National Champions), so my buddies and I arrived at the Diesel Dog. What are your thoughts?

I know its kinda pointless dribble, but with a guy as awesome as Heyward is, it's nice to be able to mess around some....

Roll 'Bama Roll Cory Reamer and Leigh Tiffin Autograph Session

Hey guys, long time since my last post I know, but I haven't seen this mentioned, so wanted to give everyone a heads up. Cory Reamer and Leigh Tiffin will be at Cummings Sporting Goods in Cullman Sunday February 7, from 1-4 PM. Cummings is located in the North Cullman Shopping Center on Highway 31. That is the same place Spencer Region is committing tomorrow, so if you are in the area you could go by the next 2 days, and hopefully see a future star, and 2 past stars.

Thanks Guys,

Roll 'Bama Roll Advice Needed

Wife and I along with another couple are making a trip to Pigeon Forge this weekend, and He and I have been thinking about T-shirts to wear when we go by the Pilot station, wanted to get some input/ideas. Here are the ones I've had so far

2- Orange and White stripped "prison garb" with "Richardson" on the back

3- "You Can't Spell AssaUlT without UT

Any other ideas/suggestions?

P.S. I will take pictures at the Pilot and publish if wanted

Roll 'Bama Roll Crimson and Orange

What are the chances that we are going to start going with the old schol orange and crimson both on the road and at home vs. UT.... I personally love the idea, I would LOVE to see Crimson and Orange on the same field. It was the way it was years ago, as you can see in the link. I think that we should consider it at least

A Sea Of Blue Question from 'Bama

Hey guys, I hope you don't mind me intruding on your blog with some questions. I am planning on coming to Lexington for the UA/UK Football game the first weekend in October. I'm planning to have been to all 12 SEC Stadiums within the next 4 years or so (and hopefully the host site of all the BCS games, but thats asking a bit much). Anyways, my wife is wanting to use this as a vacation, and I was wondering if there were any places to stay over towards the Daniel Boone Forest, i.e. a secluded cabin, but close enough where we could go into town for a nice bite to eat or whatever. And also any attractions that we need to see would be much appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time for all your help

Roll 'Bama Roll Prep Star Shot

http://www.al.com/sportsflash/local/index.ssf?/base/sports-16/1236030855174160.xml&storylist=alabamasports

MOULTON, Ala. (AP) — A weekend shooting critically injured a standout high school football player in Lawrence County who had just made a recruiting visit to the University of Tennessee.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said 17-year-old Demetrae Griffin, a junior at Speake High School, was shot in the chest and stomach around midnight Saturday when fighting broke out between two groups of young people at a party.

Griffin, who some witnesses said was trying to break up a fight, was listed in critical condition Monday at Huntsville Hospital.

"We're still taking statements, trying to piece together what happened," the sheriff told The Decatur Daily. "There was a party going on, and at some point, outside people came and things just got out of control."

Authorities said about 100 people were attending the party at the Caddo Senior Citizen Center. No charges were filed immediately.

A message left with a sheriff's investigator was not immediately returned Monday.

Speake High School football coach Royal Carpenter said Griffin, a defensive lineman, had made a junior recruiting visit to Tennessee on Saturday and is being recruited by other Southeastern Conference schools.

"He's a good kid who has come millions of miles," Carpenter said.

The 7th Floor Welcome to SB Nation!

Hey guys Welcome to SB Nation. Feel free to come by Rollbamaroll and holler at us sometime too... We won't bring up 93 if you don't bring up the 80s..... at all..... please for the love don't bring up the 80's....
Ha ha
Welcome

One annoying thing that you will find is that you must post at least 75 words to get a fan post.... You'll get alot of filler... But to avoid that I bring you the wikipedia "Lyrical Themes" of the 7th Floor Crew

The song, whose lyrics are set against the beat and chorus from Aaliyah's "If Your Girl Only Knew", has been met with many of the stereotypical criticisms of gangsta rap music. The lyrics describe various sex acts, such as group sex, oral sex and sexual boasts by each of the group's male members, told through a narrative that is littered with sexual profanity. ESPN initially reported the lyrics to also be racist[4], but with closer scrutiny of the lyrics as well as the racial makeup of the performers showed this not to be the case.

The song was purportedly recorded privately and intended initially to be shared only among the group's University of Miami and other friends. But it received major notoriety when Miamity.com, run by University of Miami student Kyle Munzenrieder, revealed that the group included players from the University of Miami football team who had created the song under pseudonyms[5].

Former Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Sinorice Moss, who was drafted by the New York Giants in the 2006 NFL Draft, verified in an ESPN.com chat that the song was created by members of the team, though he was not among them. Moss stated, "That's something that they did like two years ago. A couple of the freshmen and older guys made a rap song. It was a really cool song".[6]

Just saw it while poking around Youtube. Its short, and about the intergration. Great use of 5 minutes. I was going to make this a fan shot so I wouldn't have to waste my time to get this to 75 words, but it just did not work out for me. So I decided to keep typing until I get to 75 words. Just about random things... Like how Todd has an unreal obsession with Snow, How OTS is a like a elder that we all go sit around for information....

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama Gymnastics team leapt four places to No. 5 in the national rankings this week on the strength of its highest team score of the season, a 197.025 against Denver last Friday.

The Crimson Tide, ninth the last two weeks, boasts a season average of 196.265. Utah and UCLA are first and second again this week with Georgia at No. 3. Stanford is less than a tenth ahead of Alabama at No. 4. Auburn is sixth this week, followed by Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida and Oregon State. LSU and Nebraska round out the top-12.

Alabama remains the nation's top ranked balance beam team with an average that is nearly two-tenths of a point better than second place UCLA. Alabama is seventh on the uneven bars, eighth on the vault and 13th on the floor exercise.

Junior Ricki Lebegern is ranked 12th in the all-around after posting a season-high score of 39.425 against Denver. Four members of the Crimson Tide are ranked in the top-25 on the balance beam led by freshmen Ashley Priess and Geralen Stack-Eaton at 10th and 11th respectively. Junior Kassi Price is 13th on the beam while Lebegern is 20th. Priess is also ninth on the uneven bars. Junior Morgan Dennis is ninth on the vault and senior Ashley O'Neal is 17th on the floor exercise.

A week after stepping out of conference competition for the first time this season to face Denver, Alabama competes against its fifth Southeastern Conference foe in six weeks when No. 11 LSU comes to town Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, or online at RollTide.com. <!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE -->

Roll 'Bama Roll Down with Kiffikins and ROT Lance Thompson

Fans who attended Tennessee's recruiting celebration early Thursday morning didn't need coffee. New UT coach Lane Kiffin and his staff provided plenty of stimulation.
Kiffin took shots at defending national champion Florida and Alabama, recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron talked about winning a national championship, and assistant coach Lance Thompson vowed that UT would "own Memphis" in recruiting.
It was that kind of morning. And the sellout crowd of almost 1,000 fans at the Knoxville Convention Center ate it up.
Their loudest applause came when Kiffin called out Florida coach Urban Meyer on an NCAA recruiting violation in the recruitment of Nu'Keese Richardson, a wide receiver from Pahoke, Fla., who committed to Florida but signed with UT.
"I'm going to turn Florida in right now in front of you," Kiffin told the crowd. "Nu'Keese was here on campus (on his recruiting visit) and his phone kept ringing.
"One of our coaches said, 'Nu'Keese, who's that?' He said, 'Urban Meyer.'
"Just so you know, when a recruit is on another campus, you can't call him. I love the fact that Urban had to cheat and still didn't get him."
Kiffin also targeted longtime rival Alabama, which was No. 1 in the country this past season before losing to Florida in the SEC championship game.
"Nick Saban (Alabama's coach) should have started his press conference (Wednesday) by saying, 'Our great class that we signed ... I'd really like to thank Lance (Thompson) because Lance signed eight of those guys.' "
Thompson was an assistant coach and star recruiter for Saban before joining Kiffin's new staff at UT. And he's about as shy as his head coach.
"He ain't getting any more of my (recruits)," Thompson said of Saban.
Thompson also compared UT's recruiting in Memphis to Alabama's recruiting in Mobile, Ala., before he arrived.
"Everybody said, 'Auburn beats us in Mobile,' " Thompson said. "Y'all beat us anymore, Eddie (referring to former Auburn assistant coach Eddie Gran, who's now on Kiffin's staff).
"Y'all say the same thing about Memphis in Tennessee. We're going to own Memphis."
Kiffin and his assistants made it clear they don't take the recruiting services' evaluations of players as gospel. That set up Thompson for another Alabama shot.
"Just for your information, Utah had no five-stars (recruits), and they kicked the lining out of our tails," said Thompson in reference to Alabama's loss to Utah in the Sugar Bowl.
The recruiting celebration didn't end as the fans filed out of the Convention Center. In fact, it was just getting started.
Kiffin and his staff were scheduled to address UT fans in Nashville and Memphis later Thursday.

Talking Chop Dog Day at the Park

Hey guys, on the lighter side of things, I just got a new lab pup, named after the Man, the Myth, the Legend, Chipper.... Anyways, I was thinking that we always did something like a dog day in the park during the summer each year.... Does anyone know when it may be? What are the regulations? Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks!

So to get to 75 words, I'll put my solution to Frenchy's problem.... He should just not even take a bat to the plate. Pitchers haven't thrown him a strike in 2 years anyways, he'll walk ever AB for the first two months before they figure it out.....

Gondee posted a picture of Obama on the site and closed it for comments? I know that your the leader of the blog and all, but can we not express ourselves? Sorry, if I offended anyone, but I wanted to be able to speak my mind and views as well. [edited for content.]

If you feel you need to express your political views, please find a political blog. I know some may say it's not fair that I can post about politics but others can't, well, this is the extremely rare post related to politics and it doesn't express too many opinions (if any). Roll 'Bama Roll What Congress is doing with the New Year

Well while it is legitimate concern to have a playoff, I think its ridiculous that Congress is working on it

111th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. R. 390

To prohibit, as an unfair and deceptive act or practice, the promotion,
marketing, and advertising of any post-season NCAA Division I football game
as a national championship game unless such game is the culmination of a
fair and equitable playoff system.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 9, 2009

Mr. BARTON of Texas (for himself, Mr. RUSH, and Mr. MCCAUL) introduced the
following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce

 _____

A BILL

To prohibit, as an unfair and deceptive act or practice, the promotion,
marketing, and advertising of any post-season NCAA Division I football game
as a national championship game unless such game is the culmination of a
fair and equitable playoff system.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United
States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `College Football Playoff Act of 2009'.

SEC. 2. FINDINGS.

Congress finds that--

(1) college football games, including post-season football games, depend
upon competition between college and university teams traveling in
interstate commerce;

(2) the competitions involve and affect interstate commerce and are
therefore within Congress's constitutional authority to regulate;

(3) the total economic impact in the host cities from the 5 Bowl
Championship Series (BCS) games in January 2008 was estimated at more than
$1.2 billion;

(4) collegiate athletic conferences whose teams participate in each BCS bowl
game share $17.5 million in revenue;

(5) the BCS system recognizes the important economic impact to a city
hosting the BCS championship game and therefore rotates it among cities; and

(6) the colleges and universities whose teams participate in the post-season
football bowls experience significant financial windfall including increased
applications for enrollment, recruiting advantages, increased alumni
donations, and increased corporate sponsorship that provides a competitive
advantage over universities whose teams are ineligible or statistically at a
disadvantage from the BCS bowl competitions because of their conference
affiliation.

SEC. 3. PROHIBITED ACT.

(a) Promotion of Game- It shall be unlawful for any person to promote,
market, or advertise a post-season National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football game as a
championship or national championship game, unless the game is the final
game of a single elimination post-season playoff system for which all NCAA
Division I FBS conferences and unaffiliated Division I FBS teams are
eligible.

(b) Merchandising- It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, market, or
advertise any merchandise related to a post-season NCAA Division I FBS
football game that refers to the game as a championship or national
championship game, unless the game is the final game of a single elimination
post-season playoff system for which all NCAA Division I FBS conferences and
unaffiliated Division I FBS teams are eligible.

SEC. 4. ENFORCEMENT BY THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION.

(a) Enforcement Authority- A violation of section 3 shall be treated as a
violation of a rule defining an unfair or deceptive act or practice
prescribed under section 18(a)(1)(B) of the Federal Trade Commission Act (15
U.S.C. 57a(a)(1)(B)). The Federal Trade Commission shall enforce this Act in
the same manner, by the same means, and with the same jurisdiction as though
all applicable terms and provisions of the Federal Trade Commission Act were
incorporated into and made a part of this Act.

(b) Regulations- The Federal Trade Commission may promulgate regulations or
issue interpretative guidelines as necessary to implement and carry out this
Act.

SEC. 5. EFFECTIVE DATE.

The prohibition in section 3 shall apply to any post-season NCAA Division I
FBS football game that occurs after January 31, 2011.

Roll 'Bama Roll The Song running through JPW's head

Guys, I don't know about you guys, but I'm extremely ready to see what this team can do against an SEC opponent.... and that being said, I think this song has been running through JPW's head all week.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H997IZkkO4Y

All kidding aside, I think that this could be Julio's coming out party.... I mean we haven't thrown him a fade yet... Anyone else think that first play in the redzone tomorrow we might see that. And also, with the O-Line back in tact, look for Mark Ingram to DOMINATE, along with Glenn Coffee. I hope we radicate these pesky Hogs and go back to the 'Bama way of winning this game big.

Roll 'Bama Roll FAT PHIL SUBPOENAED!

http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2008/07/tennessees_phillip_fulmer_serv.html

That should serve as more than one word but since not sure if it does. here is the story summed up

"

Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer was handed a subpoena upon arriving at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover for SEC Kickoff 2008 this morning.

The subpoena, delivered by a process server representing a Birmingham law firm, requires Fulmer to appear for a Sept. 25 deposition in a libel and defamation suit against the NCAA brought by disassociated University of Alabama booster Wendell Smith.

Fulmer cancelled an appearance at the event in 2004 because of concerns he would be served a subpoena in the libel suit filed against the NCAA by former University of Alabama assistant football coaches Ronnie Cottrell and Ivy Williams.

Today's subpoena was from the law firm of Blankenship, Herald & Wallace. Smith, a Chattanooga car salesman, was charged by the NCAA in 2002 with paying $10,000 to former Alabama blue-chip signee Kenny Smith (no relation) to entice him in signing with the Crimson Tide.

Kenny Smith did not qualify academically. A year later, he signed with Tennessee and played briefly for Fulmer and the Vols."

Good Ole, Rocky Flop... Go To Hell Tennessee

By Coincidence that is the weekend they play the Barners

Talking Chop Sid Bream

Guys I have been looking to try to make myself feel betting thinking back to older days.... does anyone have a link to the video of when Sid Slid? It'd be greatly appreciated. I mean our infield now is great, but I can't help but think back to the good old days, when going to the NLCS was a given, and usually the World Series. Bream, Lemke, Blauser, Pendleton.... Gregg Olson catching.... David Justice Ron Gant and Otis Nixon patrolling the outfield.... or my favorite, Chipper, Belliard, Lemke, McGriff, Javy, Justice, Grissom and Klesko....
