Gang Green Nation What are predictions worth?

If you are a betting man I guess they are worth some cash but otherwise nothing but an I told you so IF you hit it.

I dont like the Tebow move as well as 80 percent of everybody. But if you had asked any of us if we thought that the Jets would have ended up a soup opera and 8-8 we would have laughed. We have a new offensive coordinator that somehow won with Matt Moore and knows how to run an offense when the tools are there. Will the Tebow circus help or hinder? We will see. Training camp has not started, heck the draft is weeks away. Lets wait till we see something in pre-season before we talk about the move, and even then they might not show us what they are really going to do.

As always we have to have some faith, its what being a fan is all about. One year, one season will tell us if this team is actually going somewhere. I hate to say it but this might be Rex's make or break year. Not saying he is going to get fired but if he does not improve the team then we know that he is not really head coach material. Too many predictions, too many expectations, they have been worth not much more than a tease and a headache. I will always be fan but like the mets and Jets of the past I might have to sit down and watch instead of cheer. It has been exciting these last eight years.

What do you guys think? If the Tebow experiment doesn't work out, do we start over or do we keep going down the same road hoping it actually goes somewhere? Is it Rex's and/or Tanny's make or break year? What do you predict will happen this year?

PS: Is it too crazy to want Tebow to play linebacker and cover Gronkowski?

Gang Green Nation My assesment of the AFC east.

Bills.

With the addition of super Mario the Bills now have a legitimate defense. Depending on how they draft the secondary could blossom. That was a very opportunistic defense last year when they were hot. That said it was very inconsistent, making big plays one game, looking like a lame duck the next. But as long as they become a juggernaut twice a year when playing a certain team from up north, i'll root for them. The offense has a chance to get better with a year under it's belt. Hard to believe but it is a veteran team on offense and defense. Coach Gaily has a chance to make something big happen.

Dolphins.

At first I was enjoying all the failure, now I am starting to feel sorry for them. Is it wrong? I hope that they at least become a team capable of giving some competition, if only to keep the Jets in shape, or at least keep the Bills in check. The way it's going they are going to have to ask Matt Leinart to be their QB, and still might strike out. The defense is getting better in the secondary but the line is regressing. The linebackers are capable. Hopefully Sparano knows it enough that the Jets can be explosive.

???????

I refuse to talk about them, They do not exist. Blah blah blah Bieber. Cheat, eat and poop. I like that they forgot about the defense. Yeah Billy Cheat get Bieber all the help he can get. Everybody's got his number now. I have suggestion for your D, get some more old out of shape players (i.e. Haynesworth). And worst of luck to you.

Jets.

I have to live with fact that Manning is gone. (Some of you know how big of a fan I am). Sanchez might be as much of a leader as a lump of wood but he is capable QB. In the hand of a good OC he can be good if not great. Sparano can use the offense to it's strengths and make it shine. Sanchez was not as bad as we think he was last year. He actually was better than the previous years, a couple of bad games clouded that fact. Schotty misused him, Sparano can make him even better.

The defense is getting old. The Jets need to get their act together. Revis will not last forever. While the DL has been overachieving the linebackers have not. This team desperately needs a outstanding DE, someone that can put the hurt on the QB, free up the linebackers to attack the TEs or blitz. With a decent FS and Revis manning the secondary and a O-line disrupting DE this defense can be one of the best in history. Almost all the positions are filled with excellent players that fit Rex's defensive scheme.

The AFC east is looking to be the new black and blue division. The Bills are looking for a brawl and the Dolphins for a prayer. But as the rest of the AFC consists only of six good teams, (Ravens, Steelers, Broncos, Bengals,Texans and Chargers?) the east can dominate. It does seem that it is back to the NFC to be the better conference. I would like to see all the Teams in the division get better, that forces the Jets to be at their best.

Gang Green Nation Fund for billboard asking Peyton Manning to Jets

I am starting a fund or petition for a fund to get a billboard near Peyton's place in Indy Saying "Jets fans want you! You'll own NY and the world!" And another near the meadowlands saying " Jets fans to Rex and Tanny, we want Peyton! We love Sanchez, but we love the Jets more!" Any ideas, critique or support. Let me know, I've got $150 down.

PS.: I know that there will be detractors, but we all know that if Manning is 60% he is a lot better than Sanchez. And he can come in and start right away, our o-line is a lot better than they had in indy for years, not to mention our running game and defense. And our offensive talent fits right in for what Peyton does.

Tuck and JPP should have gotten co-MVPs, they were the ones that won that game. People often ignore the true best performances because of lack of stats.

Dont take his position in the ratings as the be all end all. His QB rating is hurt by his eight lost fumbles. Look at Fitzpatrick right above him, had two fewer tds and five more ints. Many other QBs had far worse statistical seasons, including Rivers. Many others had similar seasons, Eli Manning, Hasselbeck and Roesliberger. Is anybody questioning their ability? I know that eight lost fumbles is a lot but as Bradford and Tebow show, a bad line will cause most of those.

I think the biggest reason people are down on Sanchez is because he was expected to be the next Peyton Manning or something. He wont be. With a good offensive Coordinator that calls plays that suit his talent and does not ask the world of this offense Mark Sanchez can flourish. It was not his fault that he was asked to throw 70 times in a game they needed to win. It is not his fault that the OC keeps calling plays that dont work over an over again like it was practice.

I Believe Mark Sanchez IS our quarterback. I dont want to see money thrown away at fixing a problem that isnt there. Look at what Harbaugh did for Alex Smith. Run the ball, call plays that fit his talent. We can be like the steelers, great defense, enough offense to win games. We wont find the next Elway or Marino, lets work with the great talent we have. The truth is that Sanchez is a pretty good QB. He is not the leader he should be and has some misreads. How many of the active QBs can you honestly say are better, six, eight? Look at the stats list, which one, other that the top six, would you rather have? Think about it. I think the fault lays with the coaching.

Gang Green Nation Back to basics, Rex should read this article

I was just done reading an article of the NFL's hottest new head coach Jim Harbaugh, when I though he sounds a lot like Rex except in one area, assistants, well just one and we all know who it is.

Here is passage on some of the points of what Harbaugh does well and what is making San Francisco successful:

He plays to his quarterback’s strengths: For so many years, 49ers fans received a primer on the things with which Smith struggles – throwing on the run, spotting open receivers on the backside, forcing passes into coverage. Harbaugh’s offense is centered around what Smith does do well: Getting the ball to his first or second read, reacting to pressure by unloading the ball to a “hot” receiver in schemes that allow for such options, throwing quick passes out of three-step drops, using play-action fakes to his advantage, spotting mismatches in man-to-man coverage and milking them for big plays. Along with this has come an emphasis on ball security: Smith, who had nine interceptions at this stage last year, has thrown just one in 2011, and San Francisco has just four turnovers total.

• He knows how to ground and pound: Harbaugh, says former 49ers quarterback and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer, has “done exactly what he did at Stanford. He’s taken guys who thought they were tough and taught ‘em how to be tough. His offensive genius isn’t necessarily in the modern-day passing game. He and his staff are very good at scheming the running game. He’s a master of creating matchups in the running game and capitalizing on the play-action. He’s the anti-Mike Martz.”

• He hires good assistants: Harbaugh took both of his coordinators from Stanford, Greg Roman and Vic Fangio, and hired a staff adept at teaching technique and concepts, and committed to dwelling on details. Says Dilfer: “The message is very consistent. He and his assistants are good teachers, and they teach ‘The Why’ – not just what to do but why it’s important. There’s a great conviction in what they’re teaching: Physicality in the run game and accountability. A lot of toughness comes from being able to maintain technique when things are hard.” Says Vernon Davis, the talented tight end whose numbers are down in Harbaugh’s offense: “You can’t make mistakes. You can’t get penalties. Those are the things that lose games. In practice, we always focus on the snap and the count. Discipline is big.”

• He has a plan, and he sticks to it: This seems ridiculously elementary, but you’d be surprised how many coaches don’t pull off such an approach. Harbaugh has stayed on message and has made it clear that anyone who doesn’t get with the program will be replaced. “It’s just a bunch of guys believing in each other, believing in the system,” Staley says. “We believe in everybody on the field. It’s been demanding. His system is demanding. It’s just spreading throughout the locker room.”

This opposite of what Schottenheimer does. I think the team would be a lot better with Brunell and Sanchez making the calls. Rex wants it to be a basic old school offense, use the run to control the game, use the pass to surprise and keep the defense unbalanced. The Jets have the talent to do what the Packers are doing, they have much more talent than the Niners and Bills, even our bench guys can play better, we have three very good wide-outs, two dangerous tighends and a plethora of power and finesse backs. The Patriots show everybody what you can do with half of that. It is time that we went back to basics, if they decide to keep Schotty he should be the one on a color coded system this time.

The link to article: Harbaugh’s formula of success hard to pin down

PS.: (Edit) Tom Moore and Namath are consultants aren't they? Maybe we give one of them a bigger role on offense, at this point there is not much to lose by letting one or both of them call plays for a quarter or even a half. Lets try something because kicking the wheels is not doing anything we need a change. There are plenty of coaches in the UFL right now waiting for a call from the NFL. Also the CFL and AFL. Stoops was just let go. I could write an entire encyclopaedia full of names. And isn't Schotty's dad still unemployed? He was never as flaky as his son.

Gang Green Nation Just Some questions

Ok I know that there are obvious questions like: Why is Schothebraindead still the OC? When will Sanchez play to his potential and take over some plays? Why are the Jets not taking full advantage of having so many play makers in the offense?

Other teams, like Packers, Steelers, Pats, Bills!!!?, make use of all their talent, they take the risks.

But lets forget about all that because I just want to ask is WHY? why was the referee smiling every time he made a call against the Jets? Did he think it was funny? Or did he enjoy doing it? The Jets have enough problems the referees don't have to help them lose. I am not one to blame referees for a loss, much less this loss against the Pats but it seemed that they were indeed on the pats side, some calls were correct some were very bad.

And can SOMEONE, anyone please tell Rex and T to wake up and get a new OC before the season is lost? Five out of the next six games are against tough opponents and I rather start trying a new offense now than rely on ol' retard Schotty that cannot adapt a game plan to save his mother.

Was never a fan of him, hate him now. I'll take Jim Fassel, even Sparano, he should be free soon. Anyone would be an upgrade. Even couch coaches. Maybe it's my frustration talking but I keep seeing the defense out there getting tired and beat up because the offense cannot make a first down.

Gang Green Nation Jurrell Casey, DT, USC.

Jurrel Casey is an underclassmen from USC. He is not considered by many to be much of solid player and has a mid-low round grade. But the tape tells a different story. He is explosive and can push a double team with ease. He really reminds me of Jenkins in every way. He has a big body that some consider to be a little fat, small arms and a little bit of attitude. None of that has stopped jenkins from been a very good NT.

Here are some of the reports on him:

Defensive Tackle

Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 305 pounds
Class Year: Jr
Experience: 2V
Hometown: Long Beach, CA
High School: Long Beach Poly

Notes: Long Beach (Calif.) Poly product committed to then-head coach Pete Carroll and the Trojans. As a true freshman in 2008, tallied 12 tackles, two for loss and zero sacks with a forced fumble in 12 games. Started all 13 games in ’09 — 11 at defensive tackle, two at nose tackle — and produced 59-9-4½ with one pass batted down and two forced fumbles. Played right tackle in defensive coordinator Ed Orgeron’s system in ’10, totaling 67-11-4½ with two batted passes and one interception.

Positives: Surprising quickness and bend for a 300-pounder. Good strength. Can dig in vs. the double-team and generate a push as a rusher. Can work his hands and feet in unison and flashes a swim move. Chases hard in pursuit. Seldom on the ground. Hits like a ton of bricks. Good awareness. Lined up at both interior spots.

Negatives: Lacks ideal height and has a dumpy-looking body (28 percent body fat) with small hands, tapered legs and thin calves. Inconsistent leverage — gets moved off the spot when he lets his pads rise. Plays short-armed and does not consistently gain separation. Does not play with pop in his hands or accelerate off blocks. Motor runs hot and cold. Limited hip flexibility to work the edges. Average range. Could stand to improve conditioning and stamina.

Summary: Fits best as a nose tackle in a 4-3 front and has potential to be a very solid run defender. Will have to make an effort to keep his bad weight in check in order to retain his quickness and movement skills.

NFL projection: Second- to third-round pick.

Gang Green Nation The Thomas Jones debate ended.

When Thomas Jones was released there were many people, including fans in this blog, that hated the move. Some even went as a as to predict low rushing stats and say that LT was a total washout, the without TJ, the AFC's rushing leader for 2009, the Jets would not be able to run the ball.

Lets take a look Thomas Jones's stats through four games this year.

                              G    RUSH     YRD      Y/G      AVG      L      TDS      F      FL

Thomas Jones 4       60        236        59      3.9      27      1         0      0

Jamaal Charles 4      50        325      81.3    6.5      56      1         1       1

I included his battery mate Jamaal Charles as comparison. With the same o-line another RB has outgained TJ 89 yards in ten less carries for a 3.9 avg. And that is with a decent passing game. He has also caught 2 passes for 6 yards. In comparison these are the stats for LT and SG.

Rushing G Rush Yds Y/G Avg Long TD Fum FumL
LaDainian Tomlinson 5 76 435 87 5.7 31 3 1 0
Shonn Greene 5 62 280 56 4.5 23 1 2 1

They have played one more game and played against better defences yet their numbers are better. And LT has caught 17 passes for 95 yards, SG 2 for 17 yards.

While we are at it lets look at Leon Washington

G    RUSH YRD  Y/G     AVG     LONG   TD    FUM   FL

Leon Washington  4    12    30   7.5  2.5      7        0    0         0

Has caught 2 passes for 28 yards. On a good note for LW is that he has returned 10 KO for 404 yards and 2 tds, both tds coming against a horrible San Diego special team that practically lost the game against the Raiders.

Also if you care to look at Faneca you would see that the Jets front office made very good moves last year by releasing those guys. I would say that Tannenbaum knows what he is doing. Oh and Lito Sheppard looked bad agaisnt the Jets on Monday night, but that was expected.

Gang Green Nation No more talk about Folk?

So when the guy is question mark everybody wants to throw him in the dumpster. Now nobody is saying anything about him.

While I realize that it is only a few FGs in two games, he has made a couple of difficult kicks that other kickers have missed in the meadowlands stadium. The new stadium have proved as hard as the old stadium when it comes to FGs and Folk did great. Most kicks have gone to the right but stayed on course.

If this guy can convert 90 to 95% of the kicks this year that would be awesome.  Even a 85% on the meadowlands is respectable enough.

Gang Green Nation Offensive pee wee football

The Jets were playing like they could not throw at all. They have Edwards, Keller and Cotchery. But still just running the ball. You have QB that you want to prove can play in the NFL and guess what you are playing in the NFL play like it!!. This is not the preseason!!!!!!!

When they needed it deep Sanchez was checking it down, and once they run it on third down late in the game. I know Greene fumbled twice but to take him out almost completely? Shoot yourself much Rex? Discipline players off the field. And please run a tigher ship. Those penalties kill.

For the first three quarters the Jets acted on offense like they were learning the game, Sanchez kept checking down when he had great protection (Trent Edwards), a little longer and open men, he threw away a possible TD to edwards. At least Folk made his field goals.

Anyway. I dont blame Wilson for not stacking up against Boldin, they should have put Revis on him, Wilson is obviously just catching up to the speed in the NFL. Cromartie was called on holds a couple of times that he did not hold. And there were three interferences by the Ravens not called. I hate when that happens against anyone but it seems that maybe the refs were punishing the Jets or something.
Why, why, why was Leonhard manned against Heap?

The Jets gave the game away, they should have stayed home and forfeited. It would've been less embarrassing.

Gang Green Nation Let the physical games begin

Is it me or nobody is talking about Lowery's and Cole's performances against Carolina?

Wow, is all I can say, I know that they not face any great receivers or even a decent offense but the were playing hard out there, like their jobs depended on it. Gholston was pounding it, Cromarty was tackling and Lowery was bringing out the tackling beast. They were all hitting the opposition.

I loved seeing the receivers running out of bounds when they saw leonhard coming like a missile to meet them. The special teams players were hustling like it was the championship. If this group of defensive players can keep up the intensity I see another '85 Bears D.

If and when Revis comes out to play, the NFL better beware. Jets football never sounded so good.

And dont worry about the offense yet, they are not using any of the plays that they will use in the regular season, they were experimenting, even the O-line was trying different schemes. The Jets were not using many in routes, I imagine that both Cotchery and Coles are going to run inside more often, Keller was running some sideline posts. Well it looked like everybody was running outside posts. Like you do when you are calling a two minute offense. At this point most of the team looks ready for the season and that is a good thing.

Gang Green Nation A good trade scenario for Revis

The St. Louis Rams. Yes the Rams.

First, the Rams HC is a former Super Bowl winning DC. The rams have the money and more than enough cap space to pay up.

Since Revis is not really interested in playing football, he can go to the Rams and be their best player without trying, get paid and help build something. And get paid, oh and yes get paid.

For the Jets they can get Atogwe and Bartell or Bartell and Laurinaitis or a cmbination with picks. Since the Rams are probably going to be a low teens or top ten pick in next year's draft the Jets can get high picks. I would love to see Atogwe in this team, Bartell is a good CB and Laurinaitis is a stud LB. Think about it we get rid of the Bull$#!t and just focus on playing football, get one or two players that can help make that push to the championship and one or two great picks for next year.

The Rams have only three players making over ten million and nineteen making over one million, oh and they need all the help they can get.

Gang Green Nation Other minor impresions on the game

This is just what I thought was not touched in the main articles

.1- The Cruz catches were not as bad as they seemed, the first two were freak catches that the kid would probably not make in a real game. He was covered right but the defender just let him make the play, a hand or a little push and Cruz would have drop the ball. It shows that yes Lowery and Coleman are not that good in coverage and have to be more agressive.

.2-Gholston was indeed pushing the line when I saw him there, should look better against inferior linemen. Remember that the Giants O-line is a veteran one and good at it. Just dont expect Gholston to have a lot of tackles by the end of the season, he is there to allow the blitz to work.

.3- Folk really impressed, he was nervous and shaky and still got those kicks there, the one miss was by inches. The one thing I saw was that he was kicking to the right, all his kicks whent to the right, dont know what the wind situation was but if it remains that way then he should remain accurate as long as they recognize that and kick accordingly. Oh and Feely missed his FG atempt.

.4-Cromarty was just as good as Revis. Catch he allowed was barely hanged on to and he would not let the receiver move. Revis allowed worst catches than that last year. And was nowhere as physical, I loved seing Cro holding on to the guy, like if he was an escaped inmate from alcrotraz.

.5- LT and Shonn were outstanding last night, Mcknight needs a lot of work, could not find the seams, run behind the blockers and his route running was below average, Woodhead was running routes like a pro.

.6- Larry Taylor looked good, had no idea who he was before the game, mostly because I did not care for the guy but now I am impressed. He ran the ball well as a returner and was finding ways to get open as a receiver. Would like to see what he can do against starters. How no one is commeting on this guy? maybe I am just overstimating what I saw.

.7-There is no need to freakout about the holding calls, I think that the new position of the umpire is going to cause a whole lot more holding calls on everybody. We are all going to hate it, but it is for their safety. There was that one pass to Bradshaw that whent for 53 yards that someone was pulling a Jet's arm that wasn't called, but it works both ways, I hope.

.8-The final score is meaningless, it is like the Colts game last year when they pulled their starters. We would have trounced the Giants if it was a real game. I am really excited and happy after this game, most of the questions are being answered in a solid fashion. The Jets are the team to beat, there is no doubt about it. Now if only Revis would take twelve million a year.

Gang Green Nation Revis needs to learn from Andre Johnson

Andre Johnson was just signed to an extension that makes him the highest paid WR, According to Houston media.

Here is an excerp from an article from Chris Duncan, AP sports writer:

'The 29-year-old Johnson had five years left on his old contract, but told McNair and Smith earlier this year that he wanted a new deal. The soft-spoken receiver caused a stir when he skipped three voluntary workouts in May and brought his desire for a new contract to light.

But his absence, and the media attention it drew, made Johnson uneasy and he arrived on time to training camp, hoping that the ongoing negotiations wouldn’t become a distraction.'

Gang Green Nation DE Bobby McCray released by Saints

Bobby McCray is a 28 year old DE with six years of NFL  experience. He is 6-6 and 260 lbs, has 29.5 sacks and 8 forced fumbles. he is not known to overpower offenses but is a steady hand and capable of occupying space. He was the starter for the Saints postseason run last year and comes relatively cheap. He was also used mainly as a speed rusher.

I think that the Jets should pursue this guy, he was drafted in the seventh round in 2004 and has been nothing but a hard working and loyal player. The type of guy that Rex loves. He could come in and immediately be pluged into a rotating spot with Golston and even take his place if Vernon does not pan out as a DE.  His size and speed is also good for occasional OLB duties. He definetly would provide a safety blanket should any of the DLs falls to injury. We need a guy like this right now. Of all the DLs out there right now he is the best available, and I can only imagine the stories he could bring to the locker room about winning the Super Bowl and keep the fire alive in this team, maybe even fuel it some more.

What do you guys think? Let me know if my info on McCray is accurate or Am I missing the mark?

Gang Green Nation Sporting News names the Jets as Super Bowl favorites

The Sporting News special 2010 Pro Football Preview names the Jets and Cowboys as the the matchup for the big game. It also rates the Jets as the best team in the league with a 95.

Her are some of their comments:

"WITH TALENT ACROSS THE BOARD, JETS WILL SOAR TO SUPER BOWL TITLE"

Instead of stading pat during the offseason, the Jets loaded up.

The Jets are Sprting News pick to win Super Bowl 45, defeating the Cowboys, ous choice to win the NFC.

It's the Jets turn, here are seven reasons why:

1. Dynamic defense

2. Maturing Mark

3. Revis Island

4. Underrated talent

5. Balanced attack

6. Stellar Offensive line

7. Ryan rules

Their old school combination- a prolific running game and an elite defense- already got them to the brink of the Super Bowl. Coach Rex Ryan and QB Mark Sanchez will both take big leaps in year 2, helped by several key newcomers.

Gang Green Nation Who has been signed?

I am curious as to whom the Jets have signed out of the draft.

I havent heard of any of the draft picks signing yet. And I think that it is important for a team to go into training camp with its roster all locked up. Want them to avoid any ugliness from players not been able to play or holding out. It also shows what kind of mentality the rookies have. I remember Ben Rolisraper holding out and been one of the last players signed from that year's draft.

I know that the Jets have to worry about locking up Revis, Mangold and others they also have this going on, so is better if they get it out of the way.

Gang Green Nation Sign Russel? Just for fun.

JaMarcus Russell was just released by the Raiders. He has three year starter experience, is a number one pick, and can teach our youngsters a thing or two about being a QB.

I mean our guys could really learn from him, they could learn what not to do in any circumstances.  And he will come cheap for a QB of his standing, I think he will be asking about $5-$7 million a year, that is nothing.

What do you guys think?

Gang Green Nation Is Tebow the next Brian Bosworth?

I know the comparison is way off. But they are both superhyped players that are technically unsound and somewhat polarizing personalities.

Bosworth was a steroid user with a big mouth, Tebow is an almost fanatical Christian that does not shutup.

Tebow has a lot of work to do to become an NFL QB, Bosworth relied too much on his atheticism and not technique.

So my question to all who cares to answer, Do you think that Tebow is going to another Bosworth? A surperhyped played that might be an ok player but never lives up to expectation?  Or is can he overcome his limitations, find the right system and coach for him and be success in the NFL?

Gang Green Nation Donovan Warren at safety?

Because of all the CBs in the Jets roster Warren would be buried deep in the depth, so they want to move him to safety. A position the Jets are definetly short at.

What do you guys think? Warren was a very good cover corner but his zone needs a lot of work, he seemed to get lost when chasing guys he was not covering. And at safety what is needed most is the ability to read and react. I dont know if I agree with making him a safety. Marquice Cole seems to be better at zone.

I would love to have Warren as a fourth corner and gettind rid of Lowery and making Coleman a Corner/safety backup.

Maybe turning Basped or Brian Jackson to safety. Basped is a good tackler and likes to chase plays. I dont know much about Jackson but I read that his zone and reading plays are much better than his man coverage.

If anyone knows anything please let me know. I am not comfortable with the safety situation. In Rex's defense safeties are really a lifeline, because if anyone gets past the blitz the safeties need to stop them fast.

Gang Green Nation I believe in what Mike T and Rex are doing

And this is why:

First, we all know how good evaluators they are, almost all of Mike T's picks have contributed at one point or another, except for a couple of receivers and the one QB, Ainge. Rex Ryan can select the best of the UDFA's and develop them into either solid starters  or at least decent players.

Second, considering all the future free agents in this club drafting too many players could hurt the budget and if the cap returns it would create more problems with either having to cut veterans or youngsters.

Third, the Jets have addressed all major needs and strengthen the defense, the only things that can be considered needs now are depth at the lines, and you will always have that need, and a blocking TE, but the Terminator can fit that need for next year.

Fourth, Gholston is better fitted with taking up a blocker as a DE than attacking the line, with his athleticism he can occupy a right tackle and allow the blitz to come through and he push the tackle back so a LB can stop the run.  I think he would contribute greatly there.

But most importantly the management and coaching of this team have proven that they can get a team to achieve when it matters. We have great coaches in all positions and good brains everywhere you look, except some places in the field.

In REX I TRUST and this season I will root louder than ever before.

J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JETS!!!!!!!!

Gang Green Nation Rex can take care of the locker room

It seems a loy of people are worried about the Jets adding "bad characters" players like Edwards, Holmes and Cromartie. Does anyone remenber the defense he used to coach for? Lewis and Suggs can easily be considered dangerous individuals, I mean murder charges for petes's sake. Rex can handle this type of guys and make them play to thier potential.

So if you are worried about there being poison in the locker room remember Kerry Rodhes, Rex could not work with him so they got rid of him. Have trust in the management and coaching of this team. They have proven that they can control attitudes and create harmony.

This is New York, they have the knowledge and experience to handle controversy and disarray and can teach players how to handle themselves. If they cant make it there they cant make it anywhere. Well, Minnesota might be the exception.

Gang Green Nation Alleged Jets plans.

I just had a lenghty conversation with a friend that works for the Jets in a very minor role in marketing.

He told me about some rumored plans. That the Jets are looking to trade the first rounder and something else for Brandon Marshal and let Leon sign somewhere else. That way they would two second rounders to use to pick Toby Gethart and Terrence Cody. They have Gethart rated as a mid second round and Cody as a third rounder.

Now this is all supposed to be a rumor within his department and he was the one talking, but it does seem possible. I could see the Broncos taking three picks for Marshal. But I honestly dont like it. If they let Leon go they would still have that first rounder to take the best available player. And have two second rouders for those other guys, which I might add sounds like a great idea.

Please remember that this is all just an allegation and I have no way of proving he even works there anymore. He did when we met six years ago. And I know what David thinks about Brandon and that it was said that the rumor had no legs but they do seem to think is very real in Denver and the media is just waiting for it to be announced. I just hope that is disinformation by both teams.

Gang Green Nation Rumor: Jets interested in Marshal

This article is form yahoo sports:

Brandon MarshallIt became clear Sunday that the New York Jets are thinking about making a run at finding the right package to entice the Denver Broncos to trade wide receiver Brandon Marshall(notes), according to the seattlepi.com.

Link to seattlepi.com article

I guess Marshal would help the Jets make some possible moves with Edwards or just overwhelm the opposition if Sanchez and Marshal become close like Manning and Harrison.

So that would be two studs at corner and two studs at WR.

I tell you what, it would be worth the money it if it keeps him away from the Dolphins and the Bills.

Gang Green Nation Sharper wants to be a Jet.

There is an opening at free safety in New York following the Jets’ decision to trade Kerry Rhodes(notes) to the Cardinals for two draft picks, and free-agent Darren Sharper(notes) said he’s interested in filling the void. Sharper, who became an unrestricted free agent March 5, has yet to visit with any team as he’s recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, but he told PFW correspondent Mike Triplett, who covers the Saints for the New Orleans Times-Picayune, that he knows he would be a good fit with the Jets. The 34-year-old did not say whether the Jets have shown interest in him; he appears to be interested in speaking with any team that he deems a good fit, so the Jets are just one of several potential landing spots for Sharper. New York’s Eric Smith(notes) sits atop the depth chart at free safety for now, but the Jets are expected to bring in competition for him through free agency or the draft.

If you remember he caught that int for a touchdown that helped the Saints beat the Jets. He had an amazing season for the Saints and was considered a locker room leader. He would be a good signing just for the experience and energy he brings to a team. I know that we have Pool and Smith there now but I think that Sharper would be great for a one year contract.

Gang Green Nation Ryan Clark?

The Steelers safety is available and probably will go for a higher price than expected.

Clark is not a ball hawk but is a play stopper with good instincs, a very good tackler Ryan keeps most players from gaining big yards, has 120 solo tackles in the last two years and a couple of ints. He is considered a very good complement to Polamalu and would fit perfectly in the jets system.

Dont know what Rolle's signing would mean with trying to sign this guy but it could go as high as five to six million per year with him being the best safety left in the FA class, only Bodden is a higher end DB. He is also said to want to sign with the Dolphins.

You can see his stats Here

Gang Green Nation Antrel Rolle released, Detroit shows interest in Leon

The Arizona cardinals have actually released their first round safety. He has a price ranging in the 3-4 million. He is a dependable and physical player that chases the ball. Hope the Jets have interest in him.

Also it was said somewhere (cant find it now) that the Lions had demonstrated interest in getting Leon Washington, they need playmakers in the offense and have the money to pay for it. It would be better to get a better blocking back to protect the new QB but Leon is a threat in special teams and catching the ball of the backfield.

I would love to get Rolle and really hate to lose Leon.

Gang Green Nation Cardinals want third rounder for Boldin

The Arizona Cardinals would apparently love to get rid of wide receiver Anquan Boldin(notes) this offseason. According to the NFL Network, the team is only asking for a third-round pick in this year's draft in exchange for him.

The Jets do not have a third or fourth round pick. Also Anquan has been crying for more money for the last three years. He is a  physical posession receiver that works well in any team. But has been called a bad locker room influence.

He is probably going to be picked up fast by a team like the Eagles, Ravens, Steelers or Jaguars. Even though he would probably want a contract in the thirty million range.

Gang Green Nation Chargers to let Sproles walk

This is the Article

Now the Chargers either need to trade for a back or draft one. The way they are going with their stars they are going to end up being the old Chargers.

This is good news for the Jets however since there are now Three teams with needs for a veteran back.

Eagles, Chargers and the new Jets friends the Browns. There are other teams but this three are the most likely to make a trade for Jones.
