Cam Newton vs Court of Public Opinion according to Finebaum
Auburn, AL-Only mere days after the allegations that Cam Newton or his father had an agent shopping his talent around for the highest bidder, it is starting to look bad for one of the most electric football players of 2010.
The timing could not have been worse. Auburn, under Gene Chizik, has one of the best offenses the SEC has seen since Tim Tebow graced the field, and Cam was the heir apparent to the Heisman throne at Florida. Then things started to get a little sketchy. Laptopgate came and went, and Tebow decided to stay one more year at his goal of going undefeated and winning a BCS National Championship in back to back years. Then, and only then, did Cam decide to "up and leave" Florida once he saw that he was not in Urban Meyers good graces, on or off the field. Say what you want about Urban Meyer, he knows talent when he sees it, and had Cam panned out for Florida, they would be on another tear thru the SEC right now. Auburn runs a very similar system, and the numbers that Cam has churned out alone are kinda staggering. Now everyone knows the kind of kid Tim Tebow was in college, on and off the field, and I think Cam knew he wasnt that guy, or even close to being that guy, and plus he would be following a legend, and any mistake he made would be harped upon, even on the smallest of details. So I get that part of wanting to just get the hell outta there, just to get out of Tebows shadow, and he may have gotten a taste of Urban Meyers cold shoulder, and felt he may be wasting time waiting for a chance that may never come since players know when "things arent right" between them and their coaches. In those types of situation, when a trust is broken, the player will never, ever win, and I think Cam may have saw the writing on the wall. Cam knew he could play, hell, he felt he could have contributed when Tebow was a Junior, and never saw good action, and I bet he knew then that it wasnt gonna work out. I have friends that played at Bama that were in similar situations, who had playing time as freshmen, were slated to start as redshirt Sophs, and because they got into a tiff with their position coach, they were put on a shelf because, even after the head coach asked the player and the coach "Why arent you playing "Player X" more, hell he practically started all last year?" the position coach would simply say "that player has a bad attitude" and that would be that..a coach is ALWAYS gonna back up his assistants.....then the player has to weigh the fact that he may not see the field, even as a prototypical NFL type ht and weight and speed, he has to make a decision to go somewhere else and hope the league finds him, because once you get that "troublemaker" or "attitude problem" moniker, you are just banging your head against a wall, and I think Cam kinda saw that writing on the wall in huge ass letters.
WAR CA$$$$$$$$HHHHH EAGLE!!!!!!!
Damn....I was wondering how AU all of a sudden got "good" players! Pat Dye has his fingerprints all over this......he said that AU would get back to their "old ways" of winning, but dayum, so soon? This site needs to liveblog the Paul Finebaum show tomorrow!!!!! I cant wait....I hope this screws his mind up sooooo bad that he cant focus on Georgia....Trooper Taylor is involved in this I know it....its just too close and too easy to see, no wonder he cant recruit anyone right now.....First "Keep it down home, cuz" which was a BS thing anyway over 50 bucks a week, all the way to this for $200k, or $180k for the Miss St Discount.....Dan Mullen was trying to telegraph this when he was asked "Dan, how in the world did you lose CAM NEWTON to Auburn, a player you recruited personally for your offense and now you lost him to Auburn?" Dan answered "WE didnt LOSE him to AUBURN!".....
CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS----PS3 Owners.....holla....
This could be the colossal game of a lifetime. I already have Metal of Honor's version, and usually waste about 3 hrs a night wasting fools. Every since it has came out, I have put NCAA 2011 on the backburner, and now with COD to drop on next Tuesday, I was just wondering if the PS3 has any following at all, or should I jump ship and join the XBOX 360 cult? If you are on PS3, look me up, send me a message at johnny1070 on the Playstation network.
Still on the verge of getting a Xbox 360, just wanted to get feedback on how many people are strictly Xbox, or PS3 on here and if one is better than the other.
Mindless Drivel: What are EDSBS readers TOP Fav Movies you know by heart...
Just out of curiousity, it seems like everyone, on some level, enjoys mindless entertainment. What I have compiled here is my all time faves, and in no particular order since I could watch them all on an endless loop since I know the lines by heart.
1. Blazing Saddles-probably the all time funniest movie I have ever seen. Too many to list.
2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail- Their comedic timing and the blatant absurdity of this movie made me howl at 12 and still does at 40.
3. A Few Good Men- "You can't handle the truth!" Jack just dressing up like a Marine and being Jack.
4. Full Metal Jacket- R.Lee Emery's introduction to all you wanted to know about Marine boot camp was one the best 35-45 minutes of screen time I have ever spent.
5. The Big Lebowski- Jeff Bridges as "The Dude" reminds me of a few of my dads hapless brothers that stayed in California after they got out of the military.
5a-tie-TOP GUN- The best recruiting tool the Navy ever had..."Thats right Iceman...I am dangerous! (snaps teeth)"
How to solve Concussions using Automotive Technology
Holed up in a bedroom fighting the flu, Al. Flu medication...can be strong, can be effective or ineffective while you are fighting the chills of a fever/hot flashes on the roller coaster of Germ Warfare. I dunno what the hell my kids brought me from daycare, but GD, this would render a battalion of Marines highly useless. In between my dreams of delirium mixed with ESPN Radio and Finebaum and ill timed trips to the bathroom, somehow your dreams and the radio program meld together and you are actually floating around the Studio in a dreamlike state watching the words come out of their mouth. It was in one of these half dreams/reality that the subject of concussions came up, and NFL hits, and helmet to helmet blah blah blah....then the show goes to a commercial about cars and safety ratings, and thats when the medicine mixed with the radio program took a weird turn...

Post game BAMA VOICE MAIL :DRUNK OR NOT: 251-207-1846....
I have left some doozies, if you need to vent your frustration, let 'er rip.......the funnier the better and I will forward to RBR staff. This was disappointing. I was more disappointed in that our loss was mainly on our shoulders and not doing the things we normally do, like getting a TD in the red zone, and leaving points all over that field. And not playing defense. I think the Ol' Ball coach finally got the situation he was waiting on, and he can savor this win til we meet them again and rip their spine out in the SECCG. That is all.
Imma gone say this just one more time v2.0
I AM GNU TO THIS BORED but a lot of you NO Me already

List your Tailgating Pet Peeves.......
Tailgating Pet Peeves....we all have them. We may, at some point, been PART of them. I came across this article"Annoying Tailgaters" , and it made me LOL since some of them are dead on. I guess it doesn't matter, college or pro, its all across every line. I've tailgated in California, Texas, all SEC venues, and it never ceases to amaze me. You see the people who have their shit together, and then you see people who are a danger to causing a massive parking lot blaze that engulfs over 100 cars....
ROLL TIDE! Smack voicemail line 251-207-1846!MALLET GETS HAMMERED!
Its Hate Week for you Hogs! We gonna bring it....can you hang? Hit us up and lets get this week started!
This is a voicemail line that a lower Alabama radio show may or may not play back. LSU has the reigning title of most bleeped bleeped and censored fans. Its all in fun. Congrats on beating the Dawgs. Voicemail line is open 24/7. Only the most epic and funniest predictions will be played. Roll Tide Roll!!!!
Taking the lead from troy145..RBR Roster: Give your Height/Weight at the year you graduated High School(yr) vs Today, right here, right now....
I played football since I was 5. Grew up thinking I was fast. Boy was I wrong. But I liked to hit. We didn't lift weights then because coaches believed you would be more likely to get injured. Our coaches were relics from the late 60's waiting on retirement....
When I graduated in '88, I was playing LB at 5'11 175....today I would play NG at 5'10 245...my last known 40 time was a 5.5 , about 4 yrs ago...the fastest I ran was a 4.71 at 159 as a freshman. I am white.
Let's Talk Mixed Dranks.......
1. If you are not drinking beer, what is your go-to mixed drink? I'll sometimes sip on Makers Mark or some good whiskey when the weather gets cooler, sometimes Crown -n-Coke variation...weather really dictates
2. What do you prefer if you are tailgating or just watching the game when beer isnt an option? Are ya sippin or doin shots? Depends, sometimes if I'm in the mood or a decent location tailgating and whether I'm walking or not, I'll do some shots to kickstart a buzz with friend, or sip good tequila...which is what I have learned over time that tequila, when sipped, is the way to go...of course chilled.
Sipped shots (how I recommend it) - go for anejo only and savor with no salt and a squeeze of lime. Chilled or on the rocks is good as is straight.
So....if the Miles train goes off the rails, do you get Boise St's coach?
It seems to me that he has been successful on a smaller school that now can play with big schools with his system and he develops sub-par talent in to bonafide players. Imagine what he can do with LSU's recruiting base and the talent that is already there. He is a helluva coach that knows offense, clock management, and yall should be able to get him for around 3-5 mill a year. Ya'll have the facilities, the talent, and all you need now is a coach who can put it all together. I am a Bama fan, but I hate hearing and watching a fanbase that is as unhappy as LSU's, and I think Les Miles isnt gonna change into a "great" head coach, but will find away to go 8-4 or 9-3 when he should be competing for the SEC every year.It just seems to me that Houston Nutt, Les Miles and Frank Beamer are all cut from the same cloth, which is "I've been doing this so long I can now make this shit up as I go along, who in the hell needs offense?"
Coach Petersen is a smart coach and I bet would unite the fanbase. I spend about 3 days a week in Baton Rouge so I hear the talk radio and I gotta say, its brutal. I am also tired of hearing about Boise St and I think Coach Petersen defecting to a traditional SEC power would end alot of the hoopla.
We see you like Beer....so who has advice on Home Brewing?
It seems as much knowledge we all have here on beer, it stands to reason that someone in this fine group has either tried to master home brewing, or knows something about it.
My question is: Is it worth the time and effort? Or is it better to just go out and keep trying other brands?
Is beer making an art? It seems like everywhere you go, there is some type of local brewery popping up, and with technology and information available, along with friends that are detailed engineers and beer lovers, it would stand to reason, along with alot of trial and effort, that one could produce something that is drinkable of their own accord.
Every man needs a hobby, why not try making beer? You can taste the results....hell, even make a
mock EDSBS Beer, now at 25% Alcohol.....wouldn't know where to start on hops, malt,or barley...

Well Penn State....here is a voicemail line for you to call that goes to many Alabama fans..
who would like to know...how do you plan on beating us on Saturday? IF you want hate week, we'd love to hear it by simply dialing 251-207-1846. The drunker the better. Last year, we got some doozys from Auburn and Florida fans, and I dont think the bar can be raised any higher, or lower, depending on your comedic taste. Now my question is , does Joe Pa get madder if you ask him about Bear Bryant and the Goal Line Stand, or about recruits asking him how long he will be at Penn State? Good luck on Saturday, but not too much luck. Roooollll Tiddddeeeee Rolllllll! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! If we win this one, we will claim it as another National Championship!
Lets Talk Beers..(Updated...now with Make Your Own Beer Label Maker...for you or your favorite team or Coach...
Alas, with the season starting and a broad cast of characters on these here boards who are spread all over the country...and dammit, EDSBS commenters know their alcohol, and beer!
1. What is a new beer that you have discovered? When I am in Louisiana, they have all kinds of "high gravity" beer and IPA...Abita Springs makes one big ass beer called "Andy Gator" that is 12% alcohol content, and a few of those will knock ya one your ass. Jockamo IPA is a pretty good beer, and just about every Albertsons has a selection of international beers, like San Miguel from the Phillippines, and a ton of Dutch, Scottish,etc...Sapporro-Japan
2. Are you more of a fan of regional beers? Abita for Louisiana, Shiner Bock or Lone Star for Texas, Sweetwater 420 in Georgia....and I know there are a ton of others that seem to be springing up everywhere
3. What "mainstream" beer are you partial too, or what is your "go-to" beer for football? Mine is ,without a doubt, Bud Lime or Bud Light....sometimes Mich Ultra...
4. Whats the most expensive beer you have had that was total crap? I tried to get into Becks/Stella, and dont see what the big deal is...
5. Whats the best beer you have had that NO ONE has ever heard of , or is hard to find?
6. Make your own BEER LABEL with this cool pre-fabbed tool. Just enter your slogan, name of beer, and what ever else....Then if you want to order what ya made to put on your own beer...they ship the labels to you...
Click on Update Preview and "BOOM"... Im gonna make one label for my rival....
Good luck on your season guys!
