Was Luis Mateo's Injury Ink-Related?

2013bc-mateo-autos

I think I figured out when Luis Mateo really injured his elbow. See if you can spot it.

AAOP: We're Gonna Party Like it's 1998!

In 2013, the Mets had their lowest attendance since 1997, the tail end of a period in which I am fairly certain that they did not in fact field a baseball team. I certainly don't remember the...

Opening Day Graphics Warmup: GIFfin' Ain't Easy

AAOP: Trolling the Fans

Let's face it, the Mets are just no good, not even in the lovable losers sense. They lose and look bad doing it. We're not getting anywhere until we can accept that one key fact, so get all of...

Citi Field ranked 10th dirtiest baseball stadium

Welcome to the offseason and the sad and pathetic baseball-related "news" that it brings. Here's a trashy piece about trashy stadiums, please wash your hands after reading it.

Embiggen I generally think of price guides as smoke and mirrors, and this was probably more relevant a couple of months ago, but how can you go wrong with these guys on the cover? And the bit about Dickey's emergence exciting the Big Apple?

Schwinden's failure gives Verducci more "Year-After Effect" fodder

Yup, must have been the workload increase that kept him from landing a rotation spot this year. Or staying in the majors. Or on the 40-man roster. Or with the first team that claimed him. Or with the second team that claimed him. Update: or with the third team that claimed him... Don't show this to the folks at FanGraphs, let them enjoy the weekend without getting twitchy over flawed statistical analysis.

In case you were wondering what happened to R.A. Dickey's pants from Monday's one-hitter, they went to Topps, where they will presumably be chopped up and put into cards. Embiggen Dickey's pants

Bisons, HV Renegades to play at Fenway

On August 18, Futures at Fenway will feature the Hudson Valley Renegades (Rays A) vs. the Lowell Spinners (Red Sox A) and the Buffalo Bisons (Mets AAA) vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox (Red Sox AAA). Something for the not-so-upstate and more-west-than-upstate New York crowds alike, if they happen to be in Boston. Tickets go on sale March 17 at 10am and, with my luck, will sell out March 17 at 10:05am.

Which 2011 AL All-Star will play for the Mets?

It may be a little-known fact, but until this year, every All-Star game this century has featured at least one former or future Mets player on the AL team.  In fact, from 2000-2006, at least one...
