New News on Brett Favre
Yes! He's coming out of retirement!.....No not really, although he might retired from playing, he still has a passion for the game. Sometime in the near future, Brett might come back to coach or do TV analysis according to several sources.
I for one could not be happier to hear this news. When Brett retired (for real) i felt like the NFL was loosing something huge. One of it's longest staples was leaving, but him coming back to coach would please a lot of fans. Even if you hated the team Favre played on, you cant hate him as a player. I wish him luck in whatever direction he goes.

Kenechi Udeze Denied Eligibility For The NFL's Disability Program
Good job by muffin man to bring this story to our attention. Front page cred for him! - Chris
Here's a quote from Kevin Seiferts story over on ESPN,
Every time he watches an NFL game, Kenechi Udeze wonders who is next. When will the next retired player absorb a bitter truth about an industry he once considered a brotherhood?
"You hope what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else," Udeze said. "But if it does, will they ever be consoled or comforted by anyone in the league office that employed them? I doubt it. The only way they can profit off you is if you're a commodity. You're not a commodity if you're injured or ill."
You might remember Udeze as the Minnesota Vikings' first-round draft pick in 2004, a solid four-year contributor who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008. He is in remission thanks to a bone-marrow transplant we chronicled that summer, but side effects of chemotherapyforced him to retire in 2009.
In the years that followed, the NFL has twice denied Udeze eligibility for its disability program, which requires 100 percent incapacity in cases of non-football illnesses. Udeze has a flexible job as an assistant strength coach at the University of Washington, where Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian -- an assistant on the USC teams Udeze played on from 2001-03 -- allows him to work around his frequent bouts with a condition known as neuropathy.
There's not much else to say, other than this is a damn shame and this sure as hell isn't right. This has really left me speechless. I cant imagine any scenario where the NFL is justified in denying his disability. The Vikes did what they could to help out, they paid his final seasons salary. I hope all the best to Kenechi and his fight against the NFL.
The Dome's roof WILL be fixed for the upcoming season
As per the Star Tribune
here is a excerpt from the article and a statement from the Vikings,
"The Minnesota Vikings support the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission’s (MSFC) decision to replace the Metrodome’s damaged roof. We appreciate the MSFC’s efforts to ensure a safe environment for all year-round users of the publicly-owned stadium, and we are pleased the Vikings will be able to play in front of our fans at Mall of America Field during the final season of the team’s lease agreement. "The Vikings also want to be clear that the MSFC’s decision to replace the roof is not a long-term stadium solution and does not change the urgency to build a new multi-purpose stadium for the State and the Vikings. The Metrodome still ranks at the bottom of the NFL in terms of revenue and fan experience. It is our intent to pursue the final passage of legislation during this year’s legislative session to finance and construct a new stadium, and we are encouraged by the progress on that front."
I really don't like the sound of this, but also take into consideration that there are other tenants, so i guess this was inevitable.
Sidney Rice Will Be Activated For Sundays Game!
So Sid himself said that he would be on the team's 53 man roster this weekend. This is Fantastic News! It seems like he did believe that he was not ready to play after all after saying, "I'm going to play. I don't think I can go the whole game but I'm going to play as much as I can". This of course was brought on after Childress gave Sid just about no other option, he said" it's now or never".
Pat Williams Wants To Keep Playing Next Season
Kevin Seifert is reporting that Pat Williams has expresses his wishes to Play for the Vikings again next year. Now this is fantastic news, this year his performance really hasn't taken a hit and i believe he can still play football. This also means we dont have to spend a draft pick in the high rounds, on a DT. instead we can either go for a DB, 2nd string running back(if toby doesn't prove himself) or a Wide Reciever. After looking at this year, our depth at wr is not so great, especially if your top 3 WR's are out. Either way, i see this as good news, now it is up to the Vikes to give him an extension.
Sidney Rice will NOT be activated for the Bears Game
So after all the anticipation of whether Sid would be back this week to bail out the vikes in chicago, although the way that the bears are playing i am not sure we will need bailing out, he will not play. This was really disappointing to hear, i thought i was finally going to get to see Sid back in action but it was his call not to play. All in all, i am not as devastated as i would have been a couple weeks ago. BB looks like he is stepping it up and getting his timing down with Brett, and percy looks like he will be playing after his Migraine incident. But on the bright side, he is lock to play next week. So do you think that we will be alright against the bears without Sid?
Randy Moss Press Conference (10-7-10)
http://www.vikings.com/media-vault/videos/Moss-Presser---107/a002fe87-2be7-4069-84f5-35cc539563f8
Something he kept saying really made me feel good inside, i'm home, i'm back home. That just makes the whole deal worth it, just to hear him say that Minnesota is his home, and it will always be his home. It was also nice just hearing him again, and remembering some of his pressers from earlier in his career and he still carries himself the same way and has a similar demeanor.
Randy:"i'm not trying to live in the past, you can call it what you want. And yea, i did have a few mix ups here, but who didn't? What if i would have been on that boat, there really would have been some problems, wouldn't it.
Percy Harvin, our 3rd down running back?
After loosing chester, the vikes were put in a complicated situation, who will be our third down back? We tried to solve that by drafting Toby. He's a good back, but i am not sure if he is the man that can catch out of the backfield. Or we could go with somebody on our roster like albert young or the vet we brought in, moats. And i as a fan do not want to see AP at third, we are already going to rely on him as a crutch pretty heavily this season. And with the new pick up of greg, it seems like he is a sold possessions receiver and he can do a great job in the slot. So who does that leave, that can potentially be a great 1 down back. Percy. If we did this, it would reduce his time played at the receiver spot.
So this all depends on if somebody right now can step up and be the 3rd down back. This means thursday, somebody needs to step up. After all, they are going to be playing 2nd team players.
What do you think?
players aside, we are all forgetting something
efore we all start wondering and deciding who should start, or who we should sign. Or who we should trade for. We are all forgetting one important thing, we have one of the best front offices. These guys know how to assess talent where to put it. Granted, just about everybody here thinks they can cut the roster down to 53 and have a superbowl winning team, but the harsh fact is that most all of us are not the experts. Now i have come to terms with this fact and so should you. Remember, these guys are here to make this team better, not to hurt it. Sometimes we get swept up in how we should do it, that we forget people are making a living doing this. I think we all need to take a step back and stop worrying. Maybe it's just me that is panicking and running myself ragged wondering who will take Sids spot for the first 6 weeks, maybe not. All i know is that i have faith......in football.
ps. I think javon walker is going to have his best season since when he played with brett back in '03.
pps. We still have AP, Shank, and Percy for most or all of the season.
Let us Honor the Fallen
It would only be right that we give a moment of silence for the Mullet. Yes if you haven't heard by now, Jared the Allen has cut sir Mullet. The prize possession of not only Jared, but the state of Minnesota.
http://blog.vikings.com/2010/05/25/jared-allens-mullet-is-no-more/ here is a picture of him now, ughh disgusting. It was legend that Jared had tamed this Mullet in the wild and through blood sweat and tears arose this magnificent specimen of hair. Well it was for a good reason, his wedding. The mullet will be back!
Favre had the Surgery!
Ok now keep in my this is still a report, and might not be 100% accurate, but if it is then Favre is a lock for 2010.
here is an excerpt from tESPN the first to report this:
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre underwent arthroscopic surgery on his injured left ankle Friday morning, several sources told ESPN.com.
Noted orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews operated on Favre at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla., where Favre and his agent Bus Cook were spotted by a handful of people.

A great player that can't find a job in the NFL
Alright so most of you guys know that Kevin Mawae and TO are still looking for work, and there are also a few other vets, but is everybody forgetting about Daunte Culpepper?
http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_15110220?source=rss
He is off the radar so much, that he is going to the UFL. Now i truly think that he is better than this, that he is still a starter on a couple of teams, if given the chance eg. training camp and minicamp. I dont know if it is just me, or do i think it is a shame that the NFL is loosing a player like him. Love boat or not, Daunte is Daunte. The only good thing i can think of about this, is that he gets to play for Denny Green. Maybe that's what got him?
A Post Seeking Closure
Alright, it has been 3 odd months since we played the saints, and since those three months i have to been trying to get that game out out my head. So far i am unsuccessful. I have still questions and hate about that game. I have also pondered about another game, the '98 game, trying to figure out what one hurts more. But a partial truth i have come to believe is, the birds, however dirty they were, played the game by the rules, how it was supposed to be played. Football is meant to be a sport, sport is the key word there. And in any sport, there are rules, the saints broke those rules. When you break rules you should not be rewarded, but the saints were. This is what i have been thinking of for the past 3 months. Every time i hear news about the vikes, all i can remember is that game and how we deserved it. Now i know, we also contributed to our loss, but it does not excuse what the saints did.
Now i pose the question to you, what hurt more '98 or the game that hurt like it was yesterday.
straight from the idiots mouth
I couldn't help watching the news, hoping they would shed some insight on the vikings stadium situation and sure enough they did. They also happened to include some words from the Gov. himself and i quote "i am willing to raise downtown entertainment taxes if the city Minneapolis agrees" (note:some of the words might be jumbled but the jist of it is correct). So this coming from the man that is so against all kinds of taxes, for example Jersey taxes (as we all know no fan of the vikings buys their jerseys, only random people who like the color purple). So my main question is, why the flip Tim, oh wait it's not a flip, it is just something that is serving your own interests instead of backing up and looking at the problem as a whole. What do you think? Is Tim an indecisive idiot or is he a political genius?
Brett Favre+The Media=Over Exaggeration
Ok now it is time to return to earth. This out of Bretts mouth
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d817e0e16&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true
so the skinny is, that he needs the surgery but it is only minor. He doesn't need it to play but he should get it done if he Wants to. Man did every single person pounce on the idea ,that it's Surgery or Retirement, really fast. And you guys should know better than to trust Ed "dumbass" Werder. This guy just wants people to listen to him. He BS's his way through last summer pretty good, he knows nothing. Before i go on a rant about ESPN, i'll stop.
And the Winner of the NFL's most confused Team goes to......
You guessed it, the good 'ol purple and goal. I thought last year was a whirlwind, where the confusion was in abundance, but stepping into this offseason, i had no idea what was coming to me. Lets start with the Perennial unretire-er (the greatest QB EVER) Brett L. Favre. Is the guy coming back or does he just want to chill in his Wranglers mowing his lawn in sunny Hattisburg, don't ask me. Then came a long Douche numba 2 (LT2). He was just as bad as TJ-douche-menzada. He hooked some of our hearts, and made us feel love at first sight, but twas not meant to be. LT2 went on his merry way to the Rotten Apple because he felt that the Great State of Minnesota was not adequate enough for him. Oh well his loss. Then right after that rumors started to swirl around B-westy. Is he and baldy gonna reunite under the Eden Prairie moon. But those allegations were quickly dashed as the newest hot commodity sprung into action like a wind up superman. And don't for a minute think that this will be over soon, no sir. This is going to drag on like a dear under your front bumper. But lets say for one minute, that he does join our team, and Brett returns in a glorious haze atop his Craftsman tractor (after training camp of course) we have 3 QB's on the payroll. The issue with that is that McNabb is 34, Brett is 40 and Rosencopter is who knows how old. But if we do retain Jackson (if another team doesn't take a swipe at him) what then do we do. Do we let our coveted free agent from a couple years ago, rosencopter, let him go. Or do we not ever retain Jackson in the first place. Man this post took a lot out of me, there are still a few more controversies yet, such as the willy's wall, and Ray Ray, and the beasts of the backfield (but right now they are more like little teddy bears). Winfield in particular, when we re-signed him, the fear was if he could hold up the length of his contract, so far not looking so well. Well what do you think? Share your incite with the world, or just a bunch of Vikings fans.
Oh God Not This Again, Open Thread
If you haven't already made the connection, this situation with Mr. LT has happened before in vikings history, and that was last year with Mr. Douche-Menzada (i'm sorry housh, you broke my heart). But i am feeling the same kinds of things from last year and with a very similar situation. We though that TJ was most definitely a shoe in tko be a viking, but at last he wasn't (but it worked out for us). All i am saying, please don't get your hopes up, but over the next few days it is going to be hard not to.
So consider this Post an Open Thread for the next few days on the subject of LT and such. LT is the kind of lighting that we wouldn't mind striking us (like the metaphor??).
Ok guys it is official, LT is the biggest douche in the world. Ok maybe i am over reacting but lets get something straight he got caught up in the glitz of NY. He can go suck an apple next year.
Now Let the official courting of Brian Westbrook Begin!!

LT is scheduled to visit us on Thursday
First, i didn't dig this piece of info up it was Raysofhope who first commented on this. Second, Whoopeee. I am ecstatic about this news. The reason LT left San Diego, was because he did not have enough left in the tank, to be a starter. Coming here would only mean most third downs and on exotic play packages. I really think that he can excel in this kind of offense. Plus, a future HOF 'er and the Best RB in football today, i like that quite a bit.

An Idea for Gonzo and the rest of the Blog
I was over at Mile High Report (denver broncos blog) and they are doing something really cool and interseting. They are holding a live mock draft, where they assign a team to each player and when time comes they draft. It seemed like something really cool to do. But i do not know if they would mind us doing this, taking their idea and all. if you don't remember, a few weeks ago Joe Medina(MHR) came by for a little help. Here is a link to some rules on Mile High Report that one of the Mods, Ejruiz made.
http://www.milehighreport.com/2010/2/24/1324081/mhrs-live-interactive-mock-draft
a good idea or no?
Weak Link in our Defense
Is it just me, or is everyone overlooking our glaring need at the safety position. Finally towards the end of the year, Johnson started to show some talent, but Madieu really hasn't done anything great, espeacialy because of how much we are paying him. But i think the draft might be able to solve that problem. I am promoting that we either draft or if nececery trade up to get Taylor Mays the safety from USC. The problem is going to be pete caroll. I think he wants to bring somebody in from USC. I think Mays will put our secondary towards the top.
Side Note: From what i have read so far about Cedric Griffen's injury, it seems likely that he will either be ready for the season opener or just miss a couple of games. This is not enough reason to draft a corner in the first 2 rounds, unless i hear otherwise.
Finally Some Good News
"Big Daddy" Pat Williams is going to be back. This decisions is going to solve a few of our problems for us, the one being that our first round pick can go towards another position, and that HE IS GOING TO BE BACK. I am sure just like Brett, he did not want to end his season on a low note. Anyway I just can't imagine watching the game and not seeing Pat there in the middle of the line holding things down.
Happy Birthday Fran
Over the last week i have been in a state of mind that i thought i would never be in (again) and i thought i will never get out of. I have put my head in the sand and don't really care to dig myself out. But for the reason of Fran that i break my silence. Fran has been extremely critical of Favre and our front office but he did something that brett could not do, get us to the superbowl. Now he did not win any of the ones that he lead us to but he got us there. But remember after every season there is something wonderful that happens......another one starts. What happened this year will not be forgotten easily, but next year my friends. By the way Go Colts
Venting Post (caution explicit material)
So i just happened to be pissed the hell off over a couple of things. First of all being those stupid ass refs. They could have just rolled the game up and mailed it to the saints. So many of those calls should have been ours in critical points. And by the way, HE WENT AT BRETT'S KNEES. HOW IS THAT NOT A PERSONAL. Second is our entire offense, excluding anthony herrera, hutch and chester. The rest of the team was either fumbling or missing IMPORTANT blocks. No protection for Favre, he was on his god damn back all game. Now i also blame favre, but not completely. I do not think that he was aware of how sever his injury was. But that INT was to fucking ridiculous. most of every other aspect was great, all but the big plays that our D gave up. A lot of this game was a give up. For one fucking game Chilly was doing an above average job as a coach. But we shot ourselves in the god damn foot.
How Bad is Our O-Line?
I did a little fact finding today trying to figure out how oh so terrible our "crummy'' o-line really is. I compared ours to our enemy (da boys) and well this might come as a shock to you, but our line really isn't that much worse than the cow girls.
Who is going to be at the Game?
I am just wondering who is going to be attending our first playoff game and win.
And now for a random rant to fill some space. There is always a lot of controversy over the bye week is good for a team or it hurts a team. There is no possible way that a week off can hurt a team, an extra weeks rest and a clear head going into a game. Momentum is great as long as your team is bad enough to need it to win. The Vikings have intimidation, that's enough.
Defensive End Questions
If you haven't noticed Mr. Mullet is getting his fair share of attention over the last few weeks especially, and personally i haven't been seeing the production out Ray Edwards that i would expect from a player in his situation. Now a player that i thought was a better rusher is Brian Robison ( both equally good against the run). I think that robison should start over Edwards. From the little time that he has been on the field he looks like an exceptional player.
What do you think?
The degredation of football
If you are like me then you are here because you enjoy (really enjoy) football. And you don't particularly enjoy the over dramatization of it. This latest "escapade" has broken the proverbial camel's back. I don't want to blame anybody or put the entire load on one set of shoulders (espn), but i have concluded that a lot of these situations have been furthered by certain people's in the media. Most of the time they are just fishing for stories and higher ratings (adam shefter), and as soon as one starts reporting everyone else feels compelled to do the same. Now not all the time are is the media to blame. And by this i am talking about a certain somebody that makes it rain. If you haven't figured out or do not know who i am talking about, i am speaking of one Adam ''pacman'' Jones. You could either view that situation as a harmless player having a little too much fun or a distraction(a large distraction). Either way people, who are not avid fans to the NFL, look down on actions like this. If stories like this are a constant in the NFL i'm not so sure it will be as enjoyable in the future
What do you think, am i right or am i over reacting like crazy either way SKOL!!
Why the Vikes are #1
They just are, that's it final, no questions asked, that's all she wrote. Actually there are a couple of reasons but one that really puts them above and beyond the Colts and the Saints. We are healthy, perfectly healthy and it is week 11. Sure winfield is out, but if we HAD to play him i'm sure he could. Unlike the saints and colts, they are friggin depleated. They're up to their tata's in injured players. And if they want to make any kind of push into the post season they need to learn to step it up. The past few game they have played probably should have been L's on their schedule. Now sure we pulled out a couple of squeakers, but that was at the beginning of the season. I genuinely thought that we where still in the phase where we were not playing as a team( because the first 2 teams we played didn't need us to be a team, just 11 guys with some pads on). But now we look a hell of a lot better, and all thanks to eating green vegetables and brushing our teeth (probably not the case). It is just nice not to see three or four of our starters on the injury list this far through the season.
Clear Something Up For Me
What i have been hearing is that the owners of all the teams have to vote on if a team can move. And so if this is true, then is it a majority vote or something. If this is true then this might prevent a team from moving, because they want to keep a good team in supportive market. Yea i am worried about the Vikes, but out of the handful of teams that might move, the Vikes are the least likely to move(except for the stadium situation).
All About "Housh"
I have pity for humble players like Matty B. (still wish he wouldn't have left) but one person who is personal looser is "Housh the Douche". He complained that the reason why he didn't want to come here is because of our QB situation (i didn't think was to shaby" now look at him, he can't stop complaining about the QB situation there (haha meant to be a bad joke). But i don't think anyone here can complain, we got, "Lord O'' Percy. The only thing that i am still confused about was why he thought an injured QB was better than 2 QB's (not the smartest guy out there)
