Just another day of "homework" for Laurens ten Dam. 89 miles and 20,400 ft of climbing! That's just sick. Then again, no KOMs - lazy bastard :-)
The gist if this is so bold it is awesome. To rearrange the statements a little: I was his doctor. He didn't dope. If he did I would have known about it.
I a looking at getting a new bike this Spring, so a couple of weeks ago I sent out a call for any and all feedback on the range of Specialized bikes. Thanks everyone for the feedback. The more I...
I think I might be in the market for a new bike this Spring/Summer and am starting my research now. There appear to be a tonne of bikes to choose from, and don't ask me why but I am drawn towards...
So what separates us mortals from the upper echelons of cycling? The ability to do rides like this.... Taylor Phinney uploaded his Sunday ride into Strava. Check out the numbers. Distance: 75 miles Elevation 2400 ft Time: 3 hours Avg Speed: 25 mph (yes, average speed!) Solo effort, no pacing, just a solid hit out in December.
What is this guy thinking? "I don't find it right," he told La Sexta. "I think there should be a fair trial. You cannot punish a person only by verbal accusations. I think Lance has not tested positive throughout his career, was never sanctioned and now we see it all in cycling. One is accused of doping and they take away your career,."
Sur la Plaque! Scanning through the "Big Photographs" from today's stage 7 of the Giro on Steephill (worth a look after every stage) and I noticed, on this image - whose caption describes "Niemec about to launch Lampre-ISD teammate Michele Scarponi on the steepest (10%) part of the climb" - that both Lampre cyclists are in the big chain ring. Let me repeat that. 10% slope. Business end of stage 7 of the Giro. Big Chain Ring! To borrow from the definition of Rule #10 "Sur la Plaque" !
Talk about a long hard day in the saddle. For those who have a Strava account (and thanks to Pablo there are more and more of us!), check out this ride from Taylor Phinney. Amongst the many things that stand out to me is the distribution of his efforts. Check out the Power Distribution on the Analysis tab and you can see that he spent a combined almost 2 hours above 450 W!! Damn he averaged 300W for the entire 7 hour ride!
I am flabbergasted that French Cycling is even contemplating sending Longo to the Olympics. I mean, seriously ..... Yes, a great champion, her Palmares really is beyond compare, but surely French Cycling is better off to just leave her out of the scene moving forward?
In a nutshell, that's the question facing me at the moment. Stick with my Standard crank set up or move to Compact? Since moving to Pittsburgh I've come to learn respect for short but incredibly...
Who is not warming to this guy yet? Only 100 available.
Could it be that that potential infighting within Team Astana is going to force their stars (particularly Contador and Armstrong) to peak too early and have nothing left for the third week,...
