Antonelli / Kulbacki

Where are these guys playing this year?  Why haven't they played as of yet?  I'm guessing Antonelli is going to Portland for the 2nd year in a row, but haven't seen his name in a boxscore yet.

Kulbacki I think would start at AA but haven't seen his name yet either.  I've always liked what he could bring to the table and with Giles getting on in years thought maybe he could see time in the OF for the Padres later this season.

Thanks.

My AL only minor league draft..need help please

AL only minor league draft tomorrow and I'm totally not ready for it. So I come asking for some advice from the sages here. It's a 10 team AL only keeper league. Due to rules a player isn't really valuable unless it is expected they will make their major league debut sometime this season or in 2009. Anyways I'll list who is on rosters already and any help filling in the extra names would be much appreciated. Just to clarify again, looking at guys who will likely get the call in the 2nd half of this season or in 2009.

Players already on teams.

Matt Wieters
Reid Brignac
Charles Lofgren
Guillermo Quiroz
Jordan Brown
Jeff Niemann
Nicke Adenhart
Mike Moustakas
Hank Conger
Lars Anderson
Elvis Andrus
Nolan Reimold
Brett Cecil
Fautino De Los Santos
Mark Melancon
Taylor Teagarden
Jose Tabata
Thomas Diamond
Austin Jackson
John Maybery
Travis Snider
Michael Bowden
Jed Lowrie
Wade Davis
Gio Gonzalez
Phillip Humber
Rick Porcello
David Purcey
David Price

Brett Anderson, Matt LaPorta and Trevor Cahill are 3 names I picked up already just look for some more, any help is greatly appreciated.

Your favorite past prospect that never panned out and why?

I was looking through my NL keeper leagues website tonight at my old rosters.  Think I saw the name Brandon Larson for 3 seasons and I thought what in the hell did I ever see in that guy to think he could hit in the bigs?  Guess I was just wondering who other people thought were can't miss prospects but the guy just never panned out.

Trevor Plouffe

Plouffe hit his 2nd HR of the season for Class AA New Britian today.  He has a pretty impressive line so far in AA, yeah it's only 8 games so not going crazy yet but this looks like progress for him.  He doesn't turn 21 for 2 more months and plays a solid SS from what I've heard.

Has he turned the corner or is this just a small sample size issue?

Ian Snell opinions

Im looking for opinions on Ian Snell.  I like his strikeout total from last year of 169 but the WHIP and ERA aren't the best.  What do people expect from him this season.  I ask since Im about to propose a Roto trade for him and was just wondering.

Guess id also liek to know which youd rather have.

Carlos Quentin at $15 for 2 seasons

or

Ian Snell at $3 for 2 seasons
Kevin Kouzmanoff $5 for 1 season

AL Only strategy question 5x5 Roto

I play in an AL only league with 10 teams.  We draft using an auction budget of $260 to fill 23 roster spots (14 hitters, 9 pitchers) 2 catchers.  I was wondering since I have through trades this offseason acquired Vmart and Dioner Navarro if I should keep a 3rd catcher at my DH spot. My catchers would be Mauer $20, Posada $14, and Vmart $25 would be my DH. Would it be recommened to keep all 3 catchers filling up my DH spot with a catcher isn't ideal but I'm thinking I'd dillute the catching talent to the rest of the league since I'd have 3 of the top 5 in the AL arguably.

Sorry but another roto question help needed

Couple weeks ago I was working on a deal for Francouer but never came together so I moved onto another deal.

11 team NL only keeper league $260 auction for 23 players we keep 11 plus 3 minor league players.

Following trade I'm thinking about doing

I trade

Tom Gordon $21 (can be kept for 2 more years)
Scott Thorman $3 (2 more years)
Miguel Olivo $3 (2 more years)

I receive

Kevin Mench $5 (1 more year)
Shane Victorino $1 (1 more year)

Mainly looking for opinions on Victorino and Mench for next season.  This assumes Mench stays in the NL otherwise I just lose him and get nothing in return.  With rumours of Rowand being on the move was wondering if Victorino woudl slide into fulltime CF duty or is he slated for RF duty with Delucci gone now?

Keeper league trade advice

Looking for some help I'm torn about a trade offer I received in my 11 team NL only leauge.

I trade Tom Gordon at $21 (no big deal since I have F. Cordero + M. Gonzalez), Tom Gorzelanny $5 (can be kept 2 more years at that price), Annibal Sanchez $1 (can be kept for $1 for just next year, if kept longer it's as follows $6 for this and next year, or $11 for 2007,2008,2009 seasons).

Kinda confusing I know but figure it would be

Tom Gordon $21 for 1 year
A. Sanchez $11 for next 3 years
Gorzelanny $5 for next 2 years

In return I get Jeff Francoeur at $15 for the next 2 years, Chris Snyder at $1 for 2 years, and Amezaga for $2 for next year.

I'm pretty loaded in pitching as I'd still have Tim Hudson, Anthony Reyes, John Maine at a combined $10 and would have plenty of money to spend to buy an ace or 2 to anchor the staff.

My minor league drafts

Sorry this is similar to another diary but wanted some input from everyone here.  Had our minor league drafts tonight and ended up with the following players.  Mainly looking at thoughts about when I can expect to see this players help my team out.  We can keep 3 minors per team each season I'll list who I drafted tonight and who else is on my roster for rookies.

AL 10 team league 5x5

Drafted tonight:

Round 1: Matt Garza $10
Round 2: Trevor Crowe $5
Round 3: Reid Brignac $2

Kept from before:

BJ Upton (insert into lineup at 3B or SS)
Jerry Owens
Dustin Pedroia
Denard Span

National League 11 team 5x5

Draft tonight:

1st round: Chris Iannetta $10
2nd round: Eric Patterson $5
3rd round: Scott Elbert $2

kept from before

John Maine $2
Travis Ishikawa $2
Scott Thorman $3
Carlos Quentin $10
Tom Gorzelanny $5
Yusmeiro Petit $3
Anibal Sanchez $1
Stephen Drew $10

I fully expect some of these guys to not be rookies by the end of the year just wanted some thoughts.  Salaries don't matter until the player is inserted into your lineup then that's his keeper price and price against the salary cap.

Welcome Back Matt Fox.

Just want to note that Matthew Fox is back pitching in the Twins organzation after missing last year with arm troubles.  He was the pitcher I had the most hope for out of the Twins 2004 draft class.  This class also included Glen Perkins, Kyle Waldrop, Jay Rainville, Anthony Swarzak, and Eduardo Morlan.  He has pitched 9 2/3 IP so far with 13 K's at Rookie Level Elizabethon.

Here's hoping he stays healthy and gets back on track to becoming a nice pitching prospect.

A Twins post that doesn't include Garza, Slowey, Morneau or Liraino didn't think it could happen.
