With the 5th pick in the 1320AM ESPN Radio Allentown mock draft, KC's Nick Wright from 610 Sports selects Dez Bryant with the 5th overall pick. Previous Mock Draft picks: 1: Sam Bradford 2: Ndamukong Suh 3: Eric Berry 4: Russel Okung

1320AM ESPN Radio Allentown Happy Hour Show No actual pod cast on this pick, but TOTALLY disagree. If Berry is gone, I see Pioli taking Dan Williams before he takes Dez Bryant.

Holmgren indicates that Cle won't take a 1st round QB

1

If it's not just smoke, the one of KC's trading partners for Clausen (if he falls to 5) just bowed out. It also means that Buffalo may not need to leapfrog Cleveland for Clausen's services

NFL.com relies on Arrowhead Pride for its Chiefs content

14

Browsing the web for KC news and noticed that every story from the "Around the Web" section of nfl.com's Chiefs home page was linked back to an Arrowhead Pride story. So the question is Joel, Chris and Matt, when are you going to start your segment on Total Access?

With Pacman Jones giving workouts, I thought it appropriate to bring Pacman's wisdom to the AP community in case someone gets a wild hair and wants to bring him in.

Eagles release Kevin Curtis

KC under Pioli is always on the hunt for talent. Curtis is a speed merchant with injury concerns, but he would flourish as a slot receiver if he can stay healthy. Worth a look for the Chiefs?

NFL Network Classic Game, Pats vs Colts, has tons of KC connections

2

You know you're hard up for football when you are watching the NFL classic games. NFL Network has been re-airing the 2003 Pats vs Colts game. Here are the KC connections seen during the course of the game: -Charlie Weis -Romeo Crennel -Mike Vrabel -Ty Law -Brady's backup, Damon Huard

In an uncapped year, playoff teams get hosed

4

The teams who made the final eight but lose this weekend will only be permitted to sign one unrestricted free agent for $4.925 million per year or more, plus the number of their unrestricted free agents sign with another team. They can also sign any unrestricted free agents who sign for less than $3.275 million per year. The four teams that make the conference championship games cannot sign any unrestricted free agents unless one of their unrestricted free agents is signed by another team. In the case of all final eight teams, the unrestricted free agents they sign to replace unrestricted free agents lost cannot exceed the salary of the player lost.

"I looked up that stat I talked about after the game, fourth-and-two’s or less," Haley said. "We’ve had 27 fourth-and-two’s or less, 20 fourth-and-ones. That’s 20 times we’re coming up a yard short, a simple yard, whether it’s somebody reaching the ball out or executing the depth of the route perfectly.

Comparing LJ apologies

4
  1. Oct 09: "I also want to apologize to all the kids who view athletes as role models. I was not a good role model yesterday and hopefully I can become a better role model. We all make mistakes, and the challenge is to learn from them. I will do my best to learn from this one as I move toward becoming a better person, teammate, and member of the Kansas City Chiefs team and community."
  2. He promised to work hard "to get my life back on track and know that I and I alone put myself in these critical situations and environments to where things don't come out favorably to me. All I can do is promise to you guys and to people who are watching that as a man, I'm still growing and as a man everyone makes mistakes.

Haley on the state of the Chiefs past and present

+

"Without a doubt," Haley answered when asked if the Chiefs have yet to become a cohesive group. "That’s a sign that this is a process. I knew coming into this there were a lot of broke players and broke parts of the team that had to get fixed one way or the other. That’s why this job was open.

Nice write up by Looney on Ron Edwards

+

The big man is in his ninth NFL season and putting forth one of his finest seasons of production. Edwards has started 59 career NFL games and seen action in over 100, so it’s not like this guy hasn’t seen the looks of everyday life on the line in the NFL. After three seasons in Kansas City, under the 4-3 scheme, Edwards’ 2009 performance, to date, makes you wonder if the 3-4 has been the right fit for Ron all along?

NFL has a swine flu policy, and Clevland may use it

+

But based on the terms of the league's policy regarding H1N1, better known as "swine flu," the Browns will be able to use players from the practice squad only if six or more active players are suffering not from seasonal flu or stomach flu or blue flu or "I'm so hung over I'll just say it's the flu," but from the swine flu.
