Check this video out that I found on YouTube. Look at what a beast Shockey was. Look at the section of the video starting at the 4:24 mark through the 5:15 mark. Man hope Shockey gets that kinda nastiness back.

Lance Moore interview
Brees could have gotten it :(
I was watching the game like I always do and remember thinking; it sure would be nice if Brees had a chance. 400 plus yards against Carolina, I thought it couldn’t happen because our D is so bad especially on third down therefore figured Brees and the offense wouldn’t have the opportunities to be on the field enough to throw for that much. Then the game continued and the Saints fell behind by 20 and I was convinced they wouldn’t pull it out. I wasn’t too disappointed because I thought it would have been a long shot for them to win anyway. Carolina was playing to keep their season going, the Saints, for only a winning record. Then the forth quarter. The defense made a few stops and the offense caught fire. Brees needed 169 yards at the start of the forth. A touchdown pass to Meachem and the Saints close the gap. Then can you believe it, the D began to play like they wanted to win the game and more importantly, give Brees the chance to get his record. They get the ball back and Brees throws a touchdown via Moore. It was at this point, I noticed Brees only needed 61 more yards and there was over 5 minutes left in the game. I thought hell yea, he’s got a shot and then realized the Saints have a shot at pulling a win out. Then the D does it again, can you believe it, get the ball back to the offense and Brees throws another touchdown to Moore. Only 16 damn more yards, that’s all he needed to get and there was over 3 minutes left at that point. I thought he’s going to get it, yes he is going to get it and the Saints are winning the game 31-30. This Sunday was at that point the best day and I was hugging my girlfriend then thought about something and got instantly sad. Carolina can work the clock, move down the field and get into field goal range and leave the saints with no opportunity to get the ball back thus no win, no record. I went from being so happy to so sad in only a few seconds. I then thought that with the Saints defensive play as of the last quarter, they may stop them. But I then began to think with my head and not with my heart. I figured the best shot the Saints had to not only win the game but to also give Brees plenty of time to work a 2 minute drive, get 16 tiny little yards, and possibly score a touchdown to win it was to let Carolina score a quick touchdown. I know it sounds terrible and I am sure no coach could even think that way, but face it, Carolina had a killer run game, only down by one point, has a good kicker, and our D just usually seems to fall apart on third down especially protecting a lead in the fourth so Carolina could easily milk the clock and get the win with a field goal ending the game. I figured doing this would have put the score at 37-31 Carolina and left at least 2 minutes on the clock with Carolina kicking off to us. Carolina would never try for an on side with less than two minutes in the game and having the lead, and especially with knowing how good Brees and our offense was. They couldn’t risk giving good field position to the Saints so they would have kicked it deep. Brees would have thrown at least one or two completions in that drive passing the 16 yards and getting the record and with the way he can work magic, probably rolled down the field and gotten a touchdown using all if not most of the time left putting the score at 38-31 Saints. Win and record ! would have been great but at least Brees would have gotten his record for sure. So what happen, exactly what I thought, Carolina milked the clock by not only running but throwing a pass between two defenders to a well covered receiver (where have we seen that before). Defense as I feared couldn’t get it done and left the Saints down by one with only one damn second left on the clock. I told my girlfriend I couldn’t believe it, to come this close and the man doesn’t get another shot. Then it was like the Saints guardian angle intervened and the kick off goes out of bounds leaving one second. I looked and my girlfriend and said yes, he has the chance to throw one more pass. 1 Damn second, I’m thinking screw the win, a hail marry will more often than not turn into an interception of an incomplete. Throw a short pass and get the record. Then I saw how Carolina lined up defensively. Corners and safety near the end zone. linebackers lined up deep. There was a gap between the D line and the rest of the defenders of at least 20 or more yards. I remember telling my girlfriend that he just has to throw a short 15 hell even a 10 yard pass to a receiver over the middle who will run forwards until he is tackled by a defender but will definitely get 16 damn yards. Then I see Brees throw a deep pass of like 25 or 30 yards to a receiver near coverage. Damn my heart sunk, they lost and Brees didn’t get it. Why damn it why. It seems like this team and all us fans got to be destined to enjoy a Super Bowl winning season soon because we have had too much disappointment and heartbreak. Enough is Enough, please God have mercy!
