Argyle Lives! - At least for the Tour
Now that is a jersey I can enjoy. Wasn't a huge fan of the other one. Now if only they'd use it the rest of the year not just as a "limited addition" jersey.
RAAM - 3 teams swap riders w/in 10 minutes of each other in Cumberland, MD
This morning I was at work here in Cumberland, MD at one of my projects (I develop affordable housing). I'm standing in front of the building and all of a sudden a car with three time trial bikes pulls up. A rider pops out, a couple support people pop out, and the rider dressed in black shorts and a white jersey w/ black sleeves gets set up and just sits there. About 5 minutes later a similarly dressed rider turns the corner and struggles up the street past the waiting rider who then takes off after the finishing rider (the one on the bike pulled into Sheetz to get picked up). It took me a second to realize that this was a RAAM exchange, but the second time it happened (5 minutes later) the motor home was more clearly marked. So by the time the third one happened another 5 minutes later (this time with a Garmin logo very clear on the even larger motor home). I was able to point out to my property manager what was going on in front of her.
I think its amazing that after all that distance in the race three teams are within 10 minutes of each other. I wish I had been able to take a picture to share. I wonder how many teams/individuals are stil out there on the course? I recall seeing at least one set of vehicles and a rider earlier in the week.
Velonews has Contador to skate w/ 1 yr suspension
http://velonews.competitor.com/2011/01/news/reports-alberto-contador-likely-to-get-a-years-suspension_156967
Well it looks like there will be a verdict this week, and Spain will take care of their golden child with a light suspension. I hope/assume that the UCI will appeal. It seems to me that Spain is being pushed into this result. I'm sure they are hoping that UCI and WADA will look at the 1 yrs suspension and decide its not worth the fight. After all the science on the blood bag plastic isn't set yet and the dose level was very minute.

Fatty trying to raise $100K by Friday
For those of you who haven’t been following — and for those of us with short attention spans –here’s what’s happened so far.
1. Last Thursday I wrote a blog post in the form of a resume cover letter to Johan Bruyneel, Director of the newly-formed Team RadioShack.
2. On Friday, Johan replied, saying I could be on the team for a day if we raised $20,000: $10K for LiveStrong, and $10K for the World Bicycle Relief Fund. If we raised $50K — $25K for each cause — he’d also give me a Trek Madone.
3. I started scrambling, figuring out how I could possibly raise that much money in under a week.
4. On Sunday, I posted my response: a contest where you can win the Madone, signed by Team RadioShack, by donating to the World Bicycle Relief Fund; or where you can win a custom-painted Fat Cyclist Gary Fisher Superfly by donating to LiveStrong.
5. Yesterday — within 24 hours of when I posted my contest — we hit not only the $20K mark, but the $50K mark as well. In other words, in less than one day after the contest began, you hit the stretch goal Johan set for us for the week.
6. Johan began scrambling, looking for a new stretch goal.
7. Last night (Monday), Johan posted a new goal, with a new prize, on his blog.
That new goal is to double the original stretch goal: raise $100,000 for these two causes by this Friday at noon.

Is Lance too good or the Peloton that bad?
So asks this cbssportline.com commentary by Gary Doyle. Besides the usual mainstream bather by non-cycle press, This one at least made be go humm.
There will be pictures
Universal has announced via email (I got one) that they are carrying the Giro live online for all stages. This is a much better option than Ctv IMHO.
So now we can root for our favorite rider (Levi), sprinte (Cav/Davis), or climber (hmmm). If only we can hope for no time delay as that was what happened the last time.
I hope we get a commintator too this time. NOt that I don't mind hearing the whirl of wheels.
Levi and Lance to Gila after all?
So far there are tweets from Levi and Lance regarding racing in Silver City - Levi about going to Silver City and Lance about picking up jerseys from his store to race in, and another about talking with Livingston about the Gila. Maybe they are racing under assumed names or under the Mellow Johnny label somehow.
