There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

It is what it is and we are who we are.

Liberal and proud of it.

The league is strippping teams of their cap space for violating the unofficial cap in 2010 and redistributing it to other teams. Chiefs should get another 1.6 million in space the next couple of years.

Arrowhead Pride Over/Under/Just Right

From the FanPosts -Joel

Greetings and Salutations AP.

Its been awhile since we've done one of these so I figured its time to try it out again. The topics of regular conversation have gotten staler than Upamtn's jokes (1, 2, 3) and more predictable than Bajah07 BJ Kissel pimping Aubrayo Franklin (1, 2,)

Here's how it goes, say that something is overrated, something is underrated, and something is just right. But lets make this all lockout-player-owner-politics free. It can be anything except whats previously mentioned.

Lets see some examples, jump over the edge...

Arrowhead Pride Saturday Night Open Thread.

You know the drill. Anything and everything is open for discussion (unless its outlawed in the rules).

Since I need to type 75 words to reach the minimum, I will use this format to expound on something that I hold very dear to me. It might seem weird to some of you out there, but it has always held a dear and special place in my heart. As I have gotten older this has only begun to matter and mean more to me in my life and oh wait, Im at 75 words now. Maybe next time...

11. LeGarrette Blount, Oregon.

Character concerns will haunt Blount on draft weekend, but he is a bone-crushing runner with surprising speed and quickness, and is built like Christian Okoye.

Draft Prediction: Chiefs, No. 144 overall.

A sample test for the Wonderlic, the test given to all the players at the combine. Try your luck at it, some questions make you think for a minute.

Arrowhead Pride 2008 Stats for 2009 Chiefs O-Linemen

There has been a lot of talk recently about the O-Line, given that thus far the performance has been less than stellar.  The fact we just traded for two players from the Dolphins means changes will be coming.  There have been a couple of very good posts about the new players and the potential changes/improvements for the O-Line.  I wont go to far into analysis, I will leave that to better and more knowledgeable men (or women).  Below are the stats from last years starters, and then the linemen seemingly in the hunt for playing time this year.

All stats from Stats, Inc.  Here and our friends at Bolts from the Blue.

Arrowhead Pride ILB for the 3-4 Defense

I know there have been several posts about the 3-4 defense, what it entails and how it differs from the 4-3.  Im getting a better understanding of how its supposed to work, but Im still confused with the ILB's and their roles.  From my understanding 1 LB is supposed to be taking on the O Linemen, meaning this LB will be the bigger and stronger of the two.  The other is supposed to be the quicker, faster LB who can cover the field sideline to sideline.  Is my understanding of this correct?  And where do the LB's currently on our roster fall in these categories?

Arrowhead Pride My KC Trip

So me and the lady went to KC for the weekend.  She thinks that it was a long planned romantic getaway for just the two of us, while in actuality it was a long planned romantic getaway/opportunity to see the Chiefs 1st pre-season game.

We got into town about 1:00pm, dropped off all the stuff at the hotel and then went and found the nearest Gates BBQ.  I had the short ribs (very tasty, kudos to whoever recommended these!).  After stuffing our faces we went to the Hotel to get ready for the game. (I had dropped a hint that the Chiefs were going to be playing there and she bought us tickets!)  However upon getting ready to go we realized several important things; a) she was missing a ticket b) neither of us had a jacket c) there is no sunlight in KC,  seriously I don't think I saw it once.   With these facts in hand we resigned ourselves to watch the game from the hotel.  And then the power went out at the hotel.  It was off for only about 40 minutes but needless to say I  missed the entire first quarter (this guy was pissed).  We were able to watch the rest of the game uninterrupted and without complaint, other that us losing of course.  To end the day I got the brilliant idea "lets go to the Casino".  This was really my bad, given how the day had gone I should have known not to risk losing my semi-hard earned money, but I did it anyway.  An hour later as she walked out 30$ richer and me 80$ poorer (f*cking Blackjack) I became aware of how dumb that idea was.

The second day (Sunday) was actually pretty good.  Went to the KC Wizards game, went to the Jazz Museum at 18th and Vine (which all true music lovers should go experience).  Then I took the lady out to eat at Makers Mark in the Power and Light District.   A 30$ steak and 60$ worth of bourbon later and I was feeling gooooood.

On Monday we slept in late, made a quick trip to Oklahoma Joes (the one in the gas station) ate way to much, went back and bought 2lbs of different meats to bring back to Omaha and eat.  I finally saw the sun on the way back, thus confirming my theory that it was only like that because I was there!  But seriously, you guys are great hosts.  Everyone there was super friendly, the food was fantastic, and I didn't get my ass kicked even though I wore a Nebraska shirt everywhere I went.  Hopefully my next trip down will be even better, maybe next time I'll be able to actually see the stadium!

Thanks to you all, and long live the Chiefs!
