It's a little rough to read, with all the grammatical and spelling mistakes, but it's worth it if you are a Jake fan...

King's MMQB drew some ire around here for his jab at the Broncos' drafting while he was praising Kyle's play this season. Well, a reader called him on it. Here is the back and forth:

GOOD POINTS, AND I OWE THE BRONCOS A MEA CULPA. "Interesting stuff on the Cutler-Orton comparison. As a Denver fan, I honestly would not take Cutler for Orton straight up at this point. One issue I have is this comment: 'Denver has not drafted well [...] Denver didn't do a good job with those picks.' I am sorry, but that is simply ignorant.
"Robert Ayers, has been beastly against the run this season. He was a big reason Denver shut down Chris Johnson on Sunday with three tackles for loss. I hope you did more research than lazily peruse the stats and see that he has only one sack. With Chicago's No. 12 pick in this draft, they moved down to No. 22 and selected DeMaryius Thomas, who looks like a future star. With one of the picks acquired in the trade down, they selected the promising WR Eric Decker. And part of the trade-down haul put them in position to select Tebow.
"The only pick that looks 'bad' from the Cutler trade at this point is Richard Quinn, who Denver traded up for with the 2009 third-rounder. Doesn't look like a bad haul at all to me overall. Quite the opposite. Please do a little more research before making these blanket statements that make you look ignorant.''
-- Todd, Florence, S.C.
I regret writing what I wrote in that sentence in the Cutler-Orton comparison, because as you accurately point out, it was wrong. The reason I wrote it was I had it in my head that the lost Alphonso Smith pick was a part of their 2010 draft, and though technically it was, it was no reason to declare their 2010 haul a bad one. (The Broncos traded their first-round pick in 2010 to Seattle in 2009 to acquire a high second-round pick that became Smith, and the Broncos gave up on Smith after one season and dealt him to Detroit for the second-to-last pick of the 2009 draft, Dan Gronkowski.) Thanks for calling me on it.

But after watching his eyes mist with pain and listening to his voice crack from emotion while McDaniels vowed the team will get through the death of McKinley together, maybe it's time for Broncomaniacs who hate on the coach for being arrogant and insensitive to start rethinking a position that has been just plain ignorant.

Interesting how the MSM gives JC a free pass while tearing apart Tebow. This isn't posted to bash Jay (more), but just to show the contrast....

Okay, I need an opinion....would it be a crime of me to have the pictured jersey converted into a "Decker" - nameplated jersey? Would I risk losing my MHR membership if I defaced an Easy Ed jersey?

If it's acceptable to do, can anyone point me in the direction of a reputable shop, since I would have to ship it from Las Vegas?

Thanks y'all!

It's not exactly Broncos' news, but I thought it was something worth sharing, what with Memorial Day coming up. I'm sure our own Snake will be thinking of Tillman this weekend...

With all the Tebow hype, it's nice to see Quinn is also working hard and keeping a good attitude. I especially like the fact that he keeps his experience in Cleveland in perspective, and he won't throw anyone under the bus...

Mile High Report A few random thoughts

This has been such a roller-coaster of a weekend.  Let it never be said that the Broncos are boring, in any way!  Anyways, I've started to post several times, but on a few different topics.  I decided to wait until things settled down a little bit.  Now I'm ready to get everyone's take on a few things.  After.....

Mile High Report Mindless Ramblings of a (Slightly) Confused Fan

A word of caution:  I'm as confused today as I think I've ever been about my fandom.  I'm basically going to spew all my thoughts on this Post, but I will try to keep it in some semblance of a logically flowing piece of writing.  If I have one overarching question, it will be:  What makes us remain fans of our beloved Broncos?  More after the jump, if I can figure out how to use it...

The new (backup) QB has his first press conference in town, and THIS is the best the paper can give us?

about 2 years ago Captain_america_tiny ncm42 5 comments

ESPN (or the AP, or whoever titled this article) say "Quinn makes it clear he wants to start." They are out and out TRYING to make a QB controversy flare up.

NEWS FLASH: OF COURSE he wants to start! He's a professional athlete! Every one wants to start. Even BQ goes on to say, in effect, "We all want to start." Would it be better for him to say, "I am so happy to be a backup. I hope I never get on the field!"

Sorry, I just get irked when they try to create a QB controversy. I think everyone can agree that KO is the starter now and, barring an injury or major regression, KO will remain the starter for 2010. But I fear we have a whole season of MSM "QB controversy" stories ahead of us....

Not a surprise, but very good news nonetheless.

I have no idea how I have not seen this before now, but the Jets tendered Leon Washington at a 2nd rounder only. I am floored by this, as Washington is a great returner and has been very effective as a change of pace and 3rd down back.

Obviously, his season-ending injury and the emergence of Shonn Greene have the Jets thinking he's not that valuable to them anymore. What do we think, MHR'ers? Is a 2nd rounder worth whatever risk remains from his injury? To me, Washington is a slightly bigger Sproles, and I have always seen Washington as one of the most electrifying players in the NFL. I think he could be a huge weapon in McD's offense. Is he worth a 2nd rounder?

The Browns are supposedly going to cut Stallworth when he's reinstated. He was in NE for a year with McD. Would he fit here? Would we want to see him get a second chance while wearing orange and blue?

Favorite non-Bronco?

I am lucky enough to have NFL Network, and I challenge anyone who loves the game of football to not LOVE Joshua Cribbs. The guy is just a flat-out football player. If that's not enough, his post-game interview was one of the classiest things I've ever seen from a player who has a legit gripe. I would love to see him in orange and blue....or brown and yellow...
