I am a journalism major at Keene State College in New Hampshire. I am not only a die hard Sox fan, but a fan of the greatest American past time (even though my screen name represents the other great New England sports team). I played ball competitively up until high school, but now I enjoy playing softball and wiffle ball.

My favorite Sox player right now would have to be none other than the Greek-God-of-Walks himself, Kevin Youkilis. Youks is the man for a number of reasons. He is nasty at defense, he gets epically pissed off at the stupidest stuff, and he rocks the ugliest beard in the history of facial hair, but obviously doesn't give a f*** what others think about it.

As far as all time Sox players go, that would be a tough one. Brian Daubach stands out to me, as he was one of my favorites growing up in the early part of the century when I started understanding the game more. Although I never got to see him play, Carlton Fisk is another candidate, being born in my home state of Vermont (I believe there's a sign in Bellows Falls that reads "Welcome to Bellows Falls: The birthplace of Carlton Fisk"). Small New England towns definitely have their priorities straight.

If it ain't broke...

As a fairly regular visitor of OTM, I take a lot of time reading people's comments about the state of the Red Sox roster. And as the Trade Deadline rapidly approaches, there will be plenty of more talk to be had. Discussing roster moves and trades is one of the best parts about having a Web site like this one, especially when a vast majority of contributors are extremely intelligent when it comes to stats, contract specifics and the game of baseball in general.

Looks like the wheels are finally starting to turn...

The latest from MLBTR:
"5:21pm: Mike Lynch from Channel 5 in Boston reports John Henry and Theo Epstein will meet with Scott Boras tonight with the aim of signing Teixeira tonight or Friday morning. Lynch says the Sox are offering eight years and $184MM."

Goodbye to the Last of the "Idiots"

As Manny leaves Bean Town, an era comes to an end in Red Sox Nation. Dan Shaughnessy wrote this morning in the Globe that our last proponent of the "Cowboy Up" and "Idiot" Red Sox has just left for LA, and we can now usher in a new era of a new kind of team.
