1 week until the Spring Christmas for us football fans. It is so close till we finally get some type of news on how we are going to redeem ourselves from that bitter taste that has been in our mouths since Wade last held the title of Head Coach. Last year we didn't see too many holes, how a year can rip at the seams. So lets get this started, I'm going to try and get into the wrinkled head of one Jerruh Jones and predict how he will handle this draft.

The 8th pick in this year's draft has just been selected, Tennesee traded their pick to Houston who selected Robert Quinn, on top of that, Fairley, Jordan, Dareus, Bowers, Peterson, AJ Green, and Amukamura have all been selected, there is still talent on the board but not what was expected, no one thought the top defensive line and backs would all be taken. Jerry gets a call.... We are all watching the tv scared out of our minds we are going to choose Mark Ingram. With a few minutes left on the clock Roger Goddell goes up to the podium, the power cuts out for a few seconds only to come back to hearing ..... "Julio Jones".

Even before the rookie mini-camp as well as the rest of the offseason camps and training camp I'm going to go through and give a quick and early projection at our 2010 Dallas Cowboys. Is it too early, yes, is it fun to speculate, again yes. Will this be the final one, of course not, its another thing to debate and to give us a little more before things get underway (tomorrow rookie mini-camp starts).

There has been a lot of hate being spread because of the Cowboys draft didn't pick up what are labeled as impact Olineman, even though they probably hit on every other need area they had. There are some that are thrilled with us picking up Dez (me included) and think that despite the lack up high pick love for Olineman still think this draft as of right now was a major success. I know there is no way we end up w/ all these players because of the draft picks being forced onto the cap and Jerruh likes to get future picks and will move around most likely more than any other team but its fun to see who we can get. Opinions are welcome but if you think the pick is bad, then put down a prospect you would choose at that position.Also this will be the last unless Austin leaves. It will be fun to have back to back picks in the second but Miles has gotten better each year and I have hope that he will have a breakout year that matches his potential. Back on to the mock.

By this I mean it shouldn't matter what someone is getting paid, they should all have to earn their playing time. Money should always be just a bonus, not a prerequisite for playing time. We have too many players that because they got their money they think they will play no matter what. Well I think Jerry would rather win w/ a big money guy on the bench than to lose w/ one out there.

With the draft being a little more than a month away and it looks like for now the Cowboys are done with free agency, there are so many mock drafts to look at, from fans and mediots. I've done a couple mock drafts but what may be more beneficial is if we take a look at a larger range of prospects than just one for where we pick around. That being said here are some prospects that might be around when our number is called....


Some notes - I used nfldraftscout from cbs sports for projections and used the projected round to highlight prospects, not exact order. Also had to take in account the Comp picks., added a link per prospect to get to know a little better. Also my personal pick is bold and italicized.

Just recently the Carolina Panther have released Ken Lucas a solid corner which most of us last remember getting punched in the face by Steve Smith. Well today the Carolina Panther cut him which means we might be able to get him for cheap. Here are some reason why he might be cheap and why we should take a look. He is another guy like Hamlin IMO that we can get for a one year deal w/ him with possibly bringing him back.

It is possible that they want Scandrick to be ready if we aren't able to get a safety in the draft.....There are far too many questions right now to accurately guess what they feel is their needs. We really don't know how they feel about the WR corps, we know they like Rat at NT by the signing of Igor but we don't know how much emphasis they want to be on the position...the scouting report would indicate that Dorell Scott is similar to Rat and he can be had in the third or maybe fourth. We really don't know if they want Scandrick to be at FS full-time or Hamlin at SS full-time for that matter so we don't know which of any safety position they feel we need. If they do want Scandrick at FS full time then we need a CB pretty badly and it looks like CB has more depth than safety in this draft. Too many questions too little answers to guess which route the Cowboys will go with their 2nd round pick. We do know of positions we need to get younger at and which to upgrade but many of those positions, ILB in particular, we still have questions about the backup in those spots. Can anyone give a definite answer stating that Bobby Carpenter will always suck with only preseason and one playoff game on his resume. One position we need to address is Oline, Flo isn't getting any younger, We have no idea about Free besides last year he didn't do too well in TC. Even if Free is a sure thing we don't have a backup for Columbo so depth is needed. We do need another backup guard because Proctor is not an answer to any or our depth problems. Holland looked very good in the Seattle game but they were having a horrible year so I cannot put too much stock into that performance. Another question is how comfortable are the Cowboys with going into the season with Romo and a veteran QB. Kitna does make me more confident than either Johnson or Bollinger did but do they feel we need to invest in a long term solution this year or should we wait another. With this probably being Wade's last year I do not think that we will do too much trading for future draft picks. Coaches tend to push to use all the draft picks for a player in hopes they can get instant contribution to help them keep their job. The few things that I do know is that the Cowboys are still a high quality football team and with the subtraction of some players we are now all in the hope that we will have addition by dropping these players. Just another question to ponder.

With the release of Jason Taylor it got me thinking of what it would be like for him to join the Cowboys and the more I thought about it, it might be the right move for him and for us and here are some reasons why.
