It was one of the first really creative celebrations and I, for one, didn't think it was showing up the other team or anything. Just having some fun out there. Your favorites?

-It seems like Lee is optimistic about the offense...

-Look at the notes at the bottom, it says that Hardy made a "nifty" catch over Terrence McGee today. Nice.

Here's a really good article by ESPN's Jemele Hill about new Buffalo Bill Demetrius Bell and his battle with being Karl Malone's illegitimate child.

Really well written and quite shocking to read about Malone's actions off the court. Makes me love the Bills' pick even more, seems like a stand-up guy and hopefully he'll turn into a great OT, too.

We had one last chance to win this game and we couldn't. With seven seconds left, we inexplicably allowed a seven yard out to Patrick Crayton. If you watch the replay (you can watch it on any highlight package, the play just before the the FG), Terrence McGee and the safety (I think it's Wilson) are giving such a huge cushion to the receiver.

At that point, you know they are going to run an out pattern. How do you not press that receiver?? If they slant inside, they will have no chance to kill the clock. If they try to go deep, you have safety help there and the game ends. Horrible play by Terrence and horrible defensive call.

Without that easy of a play, the time either runs out because Romo has to hold the ball too long to get out of bounds, or the pass is incomplete and the FG is 59 or 60 yards and much more difficult.

One more thing we could've done...

Wilfork fined for hit on Losman.

New England Patriots DT Vince Wilfork has been fined $12,500 by the NFL for a hit that was "late and low" on Bills QB J.P. Losman.

As we all know, the hit came on the first play of the game. Now, I don't know how anyone on this blog feels (though I can guess...), but the hit looked extremely dirty/intentional to me.

Here is the hit again in slow motion:

Now, Wilfork claims to have been trying to "brace himself for a fall." Whenever I'm falling, I generally don't stick out my elbow/forearm, I usually try to catch myself with my hand.

Wilfork has said he is trying to reach JP Losman through "friends" on the Bills, but Chris Brown of Buffalobills.com caught up with Roscoe Parrish (who went to the U with Wilfork), who said he hasn't been contacted.

JP has said he doesn't want an apology anyway. As you can read here (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=5321), Losman feels the hit was intentional and Wilfork deserved a heavier penalty.

One last ridiculous fact: Bills G Derrick Dockery was fined $5,000 for not having his chin strap buckled last week, Wilfork was fined just over double that for knocking out Buffalo's starting QB for a few games. Make sense? Not to me.

...in my blog's power rankings for the second straight week. It is very painful to do, but this team hasn't shown me anything that says "But Nick, we aren't the worst team in football." Injuries are obviously part of the equation, but those are also factored into the rankings. Hopefully a win against the Jets this week can bump this team up a bit.

Here are the rest of the rankings if you are interested. If not, you should at least check out my mini-rant of the Pats.

http://ifitsfairitsgone.blogspot.com

Bills Bringing Back Nall!

Apparently, the Bills have agreed to a 1-year deal with pre-season cut QB Craig Nall. With Losman's injury likely to keep him out until the bye week, bringing in Nall to back up Trent Edwards is a smart move by Levy. Nall knows the system well after being brought in to compete for the starting job last pre-season and backing up JP last year. The Bills haven't officially announced the deal because they need to find a way to make a roster spot for Nall.

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070924/SPORTS/70924020/1007
