Mark Reynolds to sign with Cleveland

John Heyman and Jon Morosi both reporting that Mark Reynolds is signing with Cleveland to play first base. Brittany Ghiroli, who covers the Orioles for MLB.com, says it's a 1 year deal worth $6...

Evan Silva's breakdown of RB FA/trade/franchise candidates

A pretty in-depth rundown of every running back that could reasonably find a new team for next year, including trade candidates. On Hillis: --------------------------------- Scouting Report: A slightly souped-up version of Bush, Hillis goes 6-foot-2, 250 and displays impressive versatility for a power runner. Hillis has 83 catches over the past two seasons, and is the rare back with size to counter defensive ends and 3-4 linebackers in pass protection. It's fair to argue that Hillis' monster 2010 season (270/1,177/4.4/11) may be indicative of a one-year wonder, however. Dating back to the stretch run of that year, Hillis has managed just 635 yards and three touchdowns on 179 carries (3.55 YPC) in his last 12 games. During that span, he's battled ribs, knee, elbow, hip, and recurring hamstring injuries. Hillis was rumored to let a contract issue affect his 2011 performance. He has nine fumbles in two years. Availability: The Browns won't tag Hillis, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported in late January that the team has renewed interest in re-signing him. While speculation has linked the Redskins to Hillis because of his background with Mike Shanahan, keep in mind that Shanahan drafted Hillis to play fullback, and he was almost strictly a lead blocker in Denver, carrying the football only in short-yardage situations. Staying in Cleveland still makes the most sense for Hillis because the Browns do view him as a tailback, and Montario Hardesty has proven both ineffective and injury prone. A one-year, "prove-it" contract would work well for both parties. Hillis is still only 26, so he could reenter the market in 2012 after a healthy, productive season. Prediction: Browns on a one-year, $5 million contract. ----------------------------------- Plenty of intriguing names on pages 2 and 3 of the report as well.

What I Would Do, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Drew Pom (Contest)

(By the way, this FanPost has almost nothing to do with Drew Pomeranz, other than the fact that I won't trade him.) So: I’m GM of the Cleveland Indians, and with five days left before the trading...

A trade deadline thread

I thought now was as good a time as any to get one these going and leave it up for the week. There's going to be a whole lotta chatter.

And they made a cool graph for the pitchers. That "Masterson vs. The Lefties" game actually would be interesting to watch. Let's see what he's got, right?

Hoynes: Laffey traded to Seattle

This kind of saddens me. Only me? Fair enough. (Link updated to the Cleveland.com story instead of PH's tweet. Neither has any info.) Another update: Greg Johns says the Indians acquire Matt Lawson and cash.

Orlando Cabrera to Indians

So says Jon Heyman. Link is to his Twitter page, the only source I have right now. UPDATE: Little bit fleshed out by Craig Calcaterra, who helps us make sense of it all. -afh UPDATE 2: Castro reasons through the signing. -afh

The first news of the day is the link in this Fanshot, 4th-rounder Kyle Blair has been signed.

Castrovince has everyone's at-bat music

I love this article. Okay, who has the best music? If Sipp could commit to "Use Me" I'd vote for him, but since he can't I'll tip my cap to Donald using a not-exactly-huge Stones tune. "Panama" from Lou Marson is easily the funniest.

Cle.com folks are on to something

A study at some university Chuck's never heard of opines that those who go into a game assuming the worst are the ones who get the most enjoyment out of wins. And here I thought that defeatist attitude just made my fellow Clevelanders annoying bastards.

Congratulations, Yankees!

Sizes come in S, M, L, XL, and Hubris. This may only be funny until tonight.

Lastoria: Derek Shelton is gone

I only see it on his Twitter feed, but there it is. Hired by the Rays, officially won't be back with the Tribe. Kind of a surprise. [now official — updated link with AP story]

We're gettin' the band back together

I've hardly had time to read LGT in the past couple of days, but if this has already been mentioned I still consider it fanshot-worthy. Fire Joe Morgan is back at it and doing articles for Deadspin. Just in time for Derek Jeter to win the MVP over Joe Mauer.

Jason Knapp to DL

Unfortunately this one is not a "Phelps to CWS" situation. Per Lastoria's Twitter feed, for now.
