In Lou We Trust Dont expect much come trade deadline

So with all the rumors flying around this time of year i wouldn't expect lou to be in om much of anything.  Here are the 5 reasons why i think lou will stay pat come the deadline.

5. Too many teams in the playoff race in both conferences: In the east only Toronto and Carolina have really elimanated themselves from the postseason and toronto is only 11 points out. While out west only Edmonton is starting to make plans for vacations come late april. Teams are less likley to give up on their seasons when they are that close.

4. Lack of big names: After Niedemayer and Kovalchuck there is a significant dip. Most seaons you could add souray to an elite player but he has been injury prone and his production is down. Besides that the decent names have either no trades or huge contracts

3.Lack of real talent to trade from devils end: Let's look at from a realistic standpoint. Elias, Brodeur, White, Rolston, Lagenbrunner, and Pandolfo all have no trades. Then you have Parise, Zajac, Greene, Oduya, Clarkson,Salvador,  and Martin players devils will not move. Who does that leave Mottau, Zubrus, Bergfors, Dannis, Fraser. Not a real impressive list.

2.Beware the Niclas Havelid tepmtation: After giving up a top defense prospect last season in Anssi Salmela for Havelid I can only hope lou would not make a similar mistake. As we have seen this year the devils farm team is stocked with good young players. To give up on any of those young for an over the hill middle of the road player would be a huge mistake. I mean would it really be wise to give up a player like Zharkov for someone like Ray whitney.

1. Don't mess with a good thing: The devils are atop the atlantic division while never having a full healthy squad all season. Now with Zubrus coming back and Clarkson and Martin a few weeks away, we could really have something special. And once Elias comes back from his concussion.... watch out the devils have the potential to have a very solid team, 4 lines that could score and do the job in their own end, no reason to make a move for the sake of making a move.
