Completely OT: Any law students?
(I hope it's okay that I'm posting this here, as it's totally unrelated to the Mets. If it's not, just delete it. ) I'm heading to my first year of law school on Sunday, and I'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants. I think I remember reading that there are some students from some rather prestigious law schools that post here, so I thought I'd seek some help. Aside from the feeling of general anxiety, I'm a little unclear on the process of buying supplemental books/outlines/hornbooks what have you. Right now I just have my course required textbooks. I'm under the impression that almost everyone buys extra stuff. Will professors recommend particular supplemental materials or am I on my own? Any information on this or related to this (or any suggestions on the whole) are welcome. Again, sorry for the spam. I've seen some information on this stuff on the net, but I respect "youse guys" opinions. Thanks.

SB Nation Scouting Reports
Who wrote these up? I doubt anyone from this site, because they are brutal at worst and outdated at best. I linked to the one for Josh Thole which lists his career potential as a backup. Pagan's potential is an "excellent fourth outfielder" while Frenchy is a "quality outfielder with star potential." Now I know these came from outside AA. Anyway, can we re-do these?

Debunking False Childhood Memories
I was 7 years old in 1995 and my baseball memories are somewhat hazy. I remember a few things. I owned a t-shirt that featured caricatures of Bobby Jones, Pete Harnisch, and Jason Isringhausen with the words YOUNG GUNS printed beneath. So, there's that. As far as the team on the field, I have vivid memories of how the ideal first inning would go for the mets. A Brett Butler hit, a Jose Vizcaino sac bunt, and a Rico Brogna RBI hit to drive in Butler. In my eyes at the time, perfection. I thought I'd peruse Baseball Reference and Ultimate Mets Database and see how many times this actually happened, since it sticks in my mind so clearly.
Cerronese
For better or worse, Matt Cerrone of Metsblog.com reaches a large number of Met fans. His opinion, in turn, influences the perceptions of many fans, particularly the ones less inclined to hop around for more information, read AA, what have you. If you're like me, you often find your head spinning trying to read Cerronese, so I thought I would take the time to dissect his recent opinion piece on the Gary Matthews Jr. trade and attempt to translate it for the rest of you. It's important to see what information is being fed to the Met fan masses. Anyway, his opinion and my translation after the jump.

Beer Money
So I happened to hear that Beer Money was filming at a bar near my apartment last night, so I stopped by. Amidst the Yankee bro-fest I managed to get them to ask me some Mets questions, got all three for the 130 bucks! They were relatively easy, so if any of you get the chance and want some quick money (and live in the city) you should try to catch them somewhere. Here are the questions if anyone is interested. The episode will air in Feb '10 according to super hot Alexi Panos. 1) Which Met won his 300th game in 2007? (obvious) 2) Which Met batted .354 (i think) in 1998 finishing second in the league in hitting. (I almost blurted out Alfonzo out of nervousness , took a second, and realized it was Olerud.) 3) In 2006 NLCS Game 7 which Cardinal hit a 2 run homer to give them a 3-1 lead. (how could anyone forget this gutpunch? i blurted out the answer before she even finished the question.) In my drunkeness I also shouted I Hate Shane Victorino on camera, but I assume they'll edit that out.
