Gang Green Nation After re-watching the game, 11 "hidden" plays that had a very big impact

Promoted to the front page by David Wyatt.

In this case, "hidden" refers to plays that won't show up on a standard highlight reel, yet had a big impact on the outcome of the game. I posted this already on a Jets message board and people seemed to like it, so I decided to share with more Jet fans. I bolded the plays that struck me as particularly important. I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts and additional comments.

Amazin' Avenue Who should be the Interim Closer?

With Francisco Rodriguez suffering from back spasms, the Mets are forced to confront the harsh reality that they could be forced, for the time being, to utilize a new closer. Based on Jerry Manuel's past decisions, it wouldn't be too surprising if Jerry found a "gangsta" reliever while watching video of a High School Game in AA who he "liked," but for the time being, let's examine the two most likely candidates to fill the closer role.

Amazin' Avenue Some way too early praise of Daniel Murphy

 

Riding the wave of euphoria that accompanies an opening day win, I’d like to take a few minutes to talk about Daniel Murphy’s performance today and the reasons that I’m so excited to see him hitting in the two spot for the majority of the season. Is this gushing analysis putting far too much stock into one good game? Of course. Is it premature to assume that he will play at such a high level for the rest of the season? Absolutely. Despite these facts, I’d like to take a look at his at-bats today and the reasons I’m looking forward to watching him play for a full year.
