Red Reporter Dexter

It is with great sadness that I report to my fellow bloggers that Dexter the dalmatian was designated for assignment

on Friday after 11 wonderful years as starting dog for our family.  He had spent much of 2011 on the disabled list for

a bad back and wrist among other problems.  Fortunately it appears that the Angels have taken him for their team.

Dexter was claimed off the waiver wire from the Clermont County Animal shelter in 2000 and quickly found his way

into this Reds fan's heart.  He was definitely a perennial  All-Start Dog.

Rest well my friend...you had a great career !

video tribute follows...

Red Reporter SIS Celebrity Lookalikes

Do you look like some one famous ?  or Infamous ?

Does your ex-girlfriend look like Roseanne or maybe Brooklyn Decker ?

Does your UPS driver look like Dusty Baker ? Mine Does ! He even chews on toothpicks.

I'll try to get a picture next time someone sends me a package.

Anyhow I saw a recent picture of Colonel Ghadafi and I think he looks like Bob Dylan.

So lets see your best lookalikes !   bonus points for pictures.

Red Reporter RIP Woody Fryman

Woody Fryman has died.  He was best known for the player Dick Wagner received in trade for Tony Perez.

He was 70 years old.  I would have thought he was older than that.  He looked 70 when he played for the Reds in 77.

I still hate Dick Wagner.  I also hate fan shots.  I tried to post it under a fan shot but it didn't work.  So I must continue to make up sentences to reach the 75 word limit.  Did I mention I hate dick wagner ?  yes even after he's dead.

Red Reporter NLCS GAME 3

Time for a new game thread, since the last one was on Friday.

LA Dodgers      vs.      . Philadelphia

Starting pitchers  Hiroki Kuroda vs   Jamie Moyer

The Dodgers need a strong response to the Phillies to avoid falling into a 3-0 hole from which no NL team has ever escaped in a playoff series. The only AL team to do it was Ramirez's Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees in the 2004 ALCS.

blah blah blah 75 words yet ?? blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

Red Reporter Phillies Pitcher "Punked !"

Watch the video.. this is really funny

Everyone had convinced Kyle Kendrick that he had been traded to Japan for a player named Kobayashi Iwamura. The manager, GM, his agent... were all in on the ruse.  The look on his face is just priceless.

Red Reporter toothache now a Nat

C. Moeller, WAS, C Signed to a minor league contract

Bowden continues his love affair with former Reds players. We'll have to wait and see if he is as dumb as sweaterpants and actually puts him on the major league roster.
Who's the next ex-red Jimbo will sign ?

Red Reporter 2007 predictions revisited....

Back in March most of us had hope of at least a decent season...

SIS Finale ('07 Predictions edition)
By obc
Posted on Thu Mar 29, 2007 at 11:14:21 PM EDT

here's the link
http://redreporter.com/story/2007/3/29/231421/705

if the Reds win tomorrow we will be 72-90
and the winner is a tie between reds123 and bobestes (both picked 73-89)

if the Reds lose they will be 71-91 and the winner will be sidnancy (picked 70-92)

this 7 game losing streak put a lot of people (me included) out of the running...it is also a good indicator of what to expect if we don't keep Dunn & Griffey next year.

Red Reporter Narron wins Turkey of the Week

The 700 WLW Jennie-O Turkey Store...turkey of the week is none other than skipper Jerry Narron.

here's the link ... (not smart enough to make link smaller)

http://700wlw.com/pages/localSports.html?feed=121849&article=2296919

Narron was also mentioned as the manager most likely to be fired on Yahoo sports yesterday.

I'm hoping for another double GM/Manager sacking  like the Bowden/Boone firing of a few years past.

Red Reporter Dr. Krivsky I presume .............

..... Dr. Krivsky ....
WTF are you thinking ?
this EdE move is like removing a kidney from a patient with heart trouble.

the problem with this team is that the bullpen has blown 10 yes TEN
games. Plus 2-3 games that were tied, or otherwise in reach.

Can't you find a make believe medical problem for Stanton like you did for Milton ??

The other problem is a lack of right handed power. I know Edwin hasn't been hitting that well, but this move makes us even more vulnerable to a good left handed pitcher.

Krivsky should be fired for Reds medical malpractice !!

Krivsky = sweaterpants = Idiot

Red Reporter On Pete Rose and Opening Day

JD is upset Pete Rose wants to come to Opening Day.

"I really wish he'd go away. Every year it seems like we get the Pete Rose sideshow at some point, and it's well past being old."

The current Pete "sideshow" is being brought to you by the Cincinnati Reds who are honoring him with a special exhibit in their HALL OF FAME.

I believe the Dowd report.  I believe Pete bet on baseball, on the Reds.  I also believe that he bet on the Reds to win.  There was never any evidence to the contrary.  Do I believe he bet on them every night ? I hope not.  I hope he had enough sense to not place a bet on the Reds to win when Joe Price was pitching against Steve Carlton.  He probably didn't.

Pete made a serious mistake many, many years ago. He deserved to be fired, and he was.
He lost his career, his reputation, his freedom.

He has served his punishment.  It's time to forgive him.

Now does this mean he should be allowed to ever manage or coach a team ?
Absolutely not.  He's lost that privilege forever.  But let's separate Pete the player from Pete the manager.

"But he's a liar" you say.
And I would say let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky"
"Read my lips, No New Taxes"
"There's nothing wrong with Majewski"

Has Pete Rose been led on in this matter? I certainly think so.
Sign this agreement Pete and you can apply for reinstatement in a year.
"Just admit you bet on baseball, Pete, and they'll let you back in."

I agree Pete is one public affairs blunder after another.  He's not the sharpest tool in the tool box.  He wouldn't get Daedalus.   But, boy could he play baseball.

So don't let him manage.
But put him in the Hall of Fame.
Retire his number....
And by all means let him come to Opening Day.
I think he should throw out the first pitch.

Red Reporter Lopez signs for 3.9 Mil with Nats

quoting the AP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Felipe Lopez and the Washington Nationals avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $3.9 million, one-year deal Monday.

Lopez and the club met right in the middle: He had asked for $4.1 million when he filed for arbitration, while the Nationals submitted a $3.7 million offer. Lopez made $2.7 million last year.

He's played most of his major league career as a shortstop but has agreed to shift to second base in 2007, when he's expected to be Washington's leadoff hitter.

two thoughts....
Lopez is not worth that kind of money
The Trade still sucked anyway

Best Reds related quote...

"I'm only 93 1/2 years old"
Now thats a veteran presence if I've ever heard one.

Now if we can just sign that Bugs Bunny, we might have a decent 2007

Red Reporter Angry Boy to replace Furman

http://wcpo.com/news/2006/local/11/07/wlw.html

Just when you thought it was safe to listen to WLW again.....WCPO is reporting that Tom Gamble (he of the two whiney guys, and by the way the dumber of the two) will be the permanent replacement for Furman.

They could have picked anyone else, but they just had to pick the one person in this town that I disliked more than the Furball.  Heck, I would have preferred they kept "stuttering Seg Dennison" or even Porky Pig for that matter, rather than forcing us to listen to this dolt.

Red Reporter Steve Stewart contract not renewed

Enquirer's Kevin Kelly is reporting that Bad Boy's contract will not be renewed.

"The Reds informed radio broadcaster Steve Stewart on Friday that his contract will not be renewed.

Stewart, 43, originally signed a two-year deal when the Reds hired him in February 2004 and in September received a one-year contract extension.

"They knew that I wanted to know as soon as possible," Stewart said. "I wasn't happy with the decision, disappointed, but very grateful for the opportunity."

I wish him well.

Who would you like to take his place ??
