Grew up a 49ers fan, love everything about them. They have a history unchallenged in the league and are a model franchise. Other than that i am a Golden State Warriors, San Jose Sharks, Oakland Athletics and Atlanta Braves fan. In college i support Duke, Notre Dame, California and Gonzaga. I am currently in college , and work for the Institute For Reading Development as an enrollment coordinator. I also work as a MCA at Sears Holdings and do various work for Political Action Committees here in Northern California

A's-Pirates Talking Willingham and Breslow for Garrett Jones and Prospects

6

Well, if this is true the A's better be acquiring a couple decent prospects in the possible deal. First, Jones isn't that good of a baseball player. Secondly, relief pitching is in high demand. Finally, the A's could let Willingham walk and get two high draft picks in 2012.

Multiple Sources: David Carr Not Expected To Make 49ers Roster (CLARIFICATION ADDED)

110
Fooch's UPDATE: Maiocco's comments were from his chat when he was asked to guess whether Carr would be back. Rotoworld has not provided additional resources, so it is nothing more than an educated guess. According to multiple reports from "trusted" sources around the internet, David Carr is not expected to make the 49ers roster. This has been reported on both Rotoworld and CSN Bay Area. The above link is to Rotoworld, and below I will link the CSN article. So, what does this mean? Will Troy Smith be given a chance? Is San Francisco going after a veteran? Or, will they add an undrafted free agent? CSN Bay Area Link

49ers To Sign Chase Beeler?

9

According to Pro Football Weekly the former standout Stanford Center has been working out with the 49ers this off-season at the player only training camps, and will be in the mix at the center position if signed. A team source said "they would be smart to sign him"

Another Reason Lockout Needs To End: "Kids" Have Too Much Time On Their Hands

So, I will just give you a brief rundown of NFL arrests that have occurred this weekend. LB- Jerry Hughes, Indianapolis: Public Intoxication LB- Stephen Hodges, Dallas Cowboys: Public Intoxication RB- Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals: Assault SS- Marvin White, Cincinnati Bengals, Assault My mother always told me that I would get in trouble if the summer was "too long", nothing to do. End the lockout, save the public!

Free Agency Rule At Issue: Talks Break For Day

1

There seems to be an impasse in regards to the right of first refusal and both sides have ended talks for the day. The right of first refusal would enable teams to match offers for up to three of their free agents. The NFLPA doesn't seem in tune with that type of free agency, while the owners are pushing for it. I highly doubt something like this will derail the progress that has been made and am sticking to my Sunday prediction for an announcement to be made. Smith and Goodell will continue to talk over the weekend.

Michael Irvin Takes A Stand For Gay Rights

6

It is an extremely interesting article. Irvin's brother came out of the closet in the 1970s. The former Cowboy star stated that it "Led to some of his womanizing behavior and poor choices he’s made at times" Its nice to see that a player maligned as much as Michael Irvin can take a stand on such a crucial issue like this; good for him. Please no philosophical or political debate. It is just a good article I thought some of you would enjoy.

A's Release Bobby Cramer

3

They DFA'd the 31 year old pitcher on July 1st. Apparently, couldn't find any takers. He pitched decent in a couple stints for the A's, but it was clear he wasn't in their future plans. Good luck Mr. Cramer.

EX Cincinnati Bengal RB Killed By Kern County Sheriff

4

Ex Bengal RB, David "Deacon" Turner, 56, was shot and killed after sheriffs apprehended him for "apparently" buying alcohol and cigarettes for a minor. It is an extremely sad story. Click on the link for more information. But, there will be an investigation into the situation and the sheriff is currently on administrative leave.

Conference Call: "To Update Players On CBA Deal"

6

While, I don't think this is front page material yet. I do think that it is worth posting on Niners Nation. According to sources "The plaintiffs in the Tom Brady vs. NFL case will participate in a conference call Thursday night, the latest step toward completing a labor deal between the NFL and its locked-out players in the near future". "The purpose of the conference call is to update the individual plaintiffs on the status of the labor negotiations, particularly the framework for a new collective bargaining agreement, a league source told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio." While there probably won't be a deal signed by end of business Friday, there seems to be a strong possibility of a framework for a deal being completed by then.

Let me be clear there still remains "optimism" within the negotiations. But, sources from within the players association said that owners have reneged on an agreed to revenue split between the two sides. Chris Mortensen says that we will know more about where the talks are headed before the start of the holiday weekend.
