Sources: Agreement Reached On Rookie Wage Scale
"According to two sources familiar with the negotiations, the league and the union have reached a basic compromise on a rookie wage scale that will replace the current rookie salary cap. The owners backed off the idea of requiring first-round picks to sign five-year deals, instead limiting the contracts to four years before a player could become a free agent. The agreement is also expected to include a stipulation limiting the amount of guaranteed money and signing bonus offered to draft picks."

Andre Johnson To Have Surgery
Andre Johnson will miss Houston's season finale against Jacksonville and will have arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle next week.
Two Most Likely Scenarios for Making the Playoffs
To make the playoffs we probably need the Ravens to collapse or the Colts to keep losing, and to go at least 5-1 in the next 6 games.
Ravens play
If they lose 4 of those games, and its not one hundred percent insane they do, and we beat them head to head, we are probably in the playoffs assuming we go 5-1 the rest of the way.
Colts play:
All lose able games, and we need them to lose 3 games and us to somehow win the tiebreaker, which would happen if we win out in the division and they lose to the tits or jags one more time.
These scenarios do not take into account teams from the AFC West, though we hold the tie breaker over the top two teams in the division. If the Chargers where to also go 5-1 the rest of the way, I believe they would win the division, and we would probably be able to beat out the Chiefs or Raiders on tie breakers.

Harvey Unga(RB) Expected To Enter The NFL's Supplemental Draft
Today I feel like validating those that claim blogs are just a big circlejerk of bloggers linking to other bloggers. Thus I give you this blog post on the BYU NCAAF blog. Harvey Unga is headed to the supplemental draft. Why? Because BYU is a bunch of uptight Mormons and frown on premarital banging.
From what I understand about the supplemental draft, if you use a pick on a player, you surrender next years pick from the same round. So I ask, what round do you feel Unga is worth using a pick for, and would he be a fit for your very own Houston Texans?

Lance Zierlein: Texans team priority rankings by position
This should(if even possible) make MDC happy.
Outside Linebacker - 3
Z-Report Says: While I don't think this position ranks as an immediate need, it is a position where the Texans might look to add to their depth with a speedy player. Cushing and Ryans are more instinctive than fast and Zach Diles isn't a burner either. If the Texans can add speed to the position, then they probably will. The question will be how early will they look in that direction. If they were able to land Daryl Washington from TCU in the 2nd round as their WILL LB, I would literally crap my pants.

Are The Reports of Zone Blockings Demise Greatly Exagerated: Exhibit One - Jets
If the following is to be believed the Jets have been running a ZBS all year and are currently the number one ranked offense doing so, in a division with the Patriots who traditionally run the 3-4, and the Dolphins who also run the 3-4.
It wasn't always easy. In training camp, the Jets' coaching staff installed a zone-blocking scheme that was largely unfamiliar to the offensive linemen and most of the running backs, and it took a little while for them to get used to it. Richardson had played in such a scheme when he was in Kansas City, so he could help in a coach-on-the-field role. But until they'd had enough reps in the new system, it wasn't going to be smooth.

SI: Andre Johnson Outside the Box Candidate For MVP
Andre Johnson, WR, Texans
On the dayAndre Johnsonis inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame -- and he will be one day -- there's a video clip from the Texans' Week 5 game against the Arizona Cardinals that MUST be showed. It captures every detail of what makes this wide receiver so great.
Johnson separated himself from the Cards' best cornerback. He crossed into coverage over the middle. He caught the ball and immediately took a full-speed, shoulder-down shot from 250-pound Arizona linebackerGerald Hayes.
But it was Hayes who bounced off and crumbled to the ground. Johnson then turned toward the end zone and lowered his head into safetyAntrel Rolle, who fell face-first into the turf. And then Johnson back-pedaled and pushed cornerbackBryant McFaddeninto the end zone. Hayes walked off the field embarrassed and Rolle was last seen pinching the bridge of his nose, shaking out the cobwebs and no doubt wondering what the heck just happened. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/09000d5d81359800/Andre-Johnson-Highlight-WK-05-vs-Cardinals-2009
Andre Johnson happened. He has been a man on a mission in every way for the Texans this year, ranking sixth in the NFL in receptions (54), first in receiving yards (800), fifth in receiving yards per game (88.9). Since being held to 35 yards on opening day, Johnson is averaging 101 yards receiving per game and is third in receptions for more than 40 yards, with four.

Injury to Texans' Mike Brisiel Season-Ending
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/6664525.html
"Right guard Mike Brisiel suffered a season-ending foot injury during Sunday's 28-21 loss at Arizona. Brisiel, 26, will join left guard Chester Pitts on injured reserve. Pitts is recovering from major knee surgery.
Kasey Studdard replaced Pitts. Rookie Antoine Caldwell and veteran Chris White will compete to see who will start for Brisiel, who played every snap last season when the Texans averaged 115.4 yards rushing per game and 4.3 yards per carry."
So I guess we'll get to see Caldwell now.
