If you don't believe those of us who say running backs aren't valuable, maybe you'll believe Jeff Fisher, Mike Smith, Rex Ryan, Jim Harbaugh, and a couple unnamed execs.

Dawgs By Nature The Case For Optimism

Usually, the Browns reserve crushing disappointments for during the season. This year, it looks like Christmas came early for the masochists out there. I'm not here to mourn the loss of our favorite draft prospect, however. What's done is done. I'm here to inject a little optimism into the situation, because I think we all need it. Let's see what I can come up with.

Looks like MLB is very upset with the decision.

Colt has not been cleared to practice yet and Shurmur says Wallace is almost definitely going to start again.

Interesting look at the differences between ESPN.com and the Yahoo sports blogs.

Not a bad article from Yahoo about the whole labor mess. Not many new details or revelations, but helps sum it all up.

Dawgs By Nature What's In A Name?

Looking for feedback:

It is my opinion that it's pretty hypocritical of all of us here to ridicule using names like "Mangina" and then turn around and use things like rapelisburger or pittspuke.  I think those things should be frowned upon the same as any other stupid name.

Dawgs By Nature Community Guidelines Reminder

The offseason is always the time when we see the most off-topic and heated comments, so I'm taking the chance to remind everyone of the community guidelines that we all agreed to when we signed up for this site.

Like I would miss a chance to talk up Brian Robiskie.

Statistical breakdown of benefits of going for fourth down, using utility theory. It's an interesting article, but they fail to factor in that the chance of making the fourth down may be less than the odds of the field goal in their example.

I think this is pretty neat, even if the Browns jersey is a bit boring.

Apparently this stuff acts like HGH, except it's even harder to detect. Roy Williams admits to using it. Ray Lewis likely takes it. The stuff is probably everywhere.

Dawgs By Nature 2011 Schedule

Here it is, folks, the list of teams we'll be playing in 2011.  Keep in mind these are in no particular order, as the full schedule won't be out for a couple months I believe.

Obviously a lot can and will change between now and next season, and some of these teams will be surprisingly good or bad, but I see a lot of winnable games here.  One game that may be a little under-the-radar that I'm excited about is St. Louis.  I'm excited for the possibility of McCoy and Bradford going head-to-head.

ok, so it isn't browns related, but it's Pluto, and it's about my old HS football team improbably making a run to the championship game after losing 18 starters. I couldn't resist.

I can definitely see where they're coming from. Schools like this recruit football players, and then keep enrollment down so they can play in lower divisions and dominate. This would be like my high school team playing the browns.

Things of note: Benard says he'll be back this week, and apparently Shaun Smith has been hitting people in the balls.

Features lots of quotes from Robi's high school coach, many of which surprised me.
