I was born and raised in Vancouver and have been been a diehard Canucks fan since before the age of five. I have lived in Toronto for all but one year since 2001, and living in Leafs territory has only strengthened my commitment to the 'Nucks - 10pm faceoff times be damned!

I write for Nucks Misconduct on a semi-regular basis and also manage the blog Hockey in Society.

Who wants a coward in our lineup?

Ryan Kesler must be thrilled. I don't know how legit this is. It doesn't even cite the ubiquitous "unnamed sources close to the situation." However, TSN is usually pretty reliable, so I will trust that it is based on some sort of real information.

Canucks sign Prab Rai

I assume he will be assigned to the Moose. Good to see another solid young player join the fold.

Bieksa back practicing, Mitchell still out

Willie Mitchell is still out with a concussion and hasn't even skated yet, which is really bad news. Good to hear that Bieksa is back at it though, he will help solidify our blue-line post-Olympics.

Luongo now the man for Canada *Update: Denied By Coach Babcock*

Puck Daddy reports that Luongo will start tomorrow against Germany. No confirmation if Mike Babcock was swayed by the Nucks Misconduct poll results. Hours after the Yahoo report, coach Mike Babcock is denying that report basically saying there has not been a decision made on who starts against Germany.

"I hope they boo us." - Henrik Sedin

Jeff Passan of Y! Sports on the Sedin twins, and their experience of being enemies in Vancouver. Not a bad article, especially the parts about the Sedins' support for Canucks fans cheering against them. I also love Ohlund's comments: "They mean the same as Henrik Zetterberg and Peter Forsberg . . . I’m not sure we’ve seen their peak yet, which is kind of scary." Here's hoping they still have room to improve, eh? Still, Passan ignores the fact that other Canucks are in the same boat. And, from what I've observed, the fans have generally been supportive of the Sedins and other Canucks players - though that will surely change when they play Canada. Right, Ryan Kesler?

Luongo to start tomorrow against Norway

Bobby-Lou will start tomorrow night against Norway. And it looks like he is sporting a badass new mask, that appears to feature a Canadian-ized Johnny Canuck. Awesome.

No Edler, Samuelsson for Team Sweden at the Olympics

Sweden released its Olympic roster today. Of course the Sedins are on the team, however neither Mikael Samuelsson nor Alex Edler made the cut. I figured Samuelsson was iffy, but I am really surprised that Edler did not make it. He has 8 goals and 12 assists in 34 games, good for second amongst Swedish blueliners. Maybe they figure they need defensive rocks, not offensive rockets, on the blueline. Your thoughts? Edit: Samuelsson's reaction to being snubbed: "Probably going to get in trouble for this, but they can go fuck themselves." Thanks to cyxj for the link.

Luongo trade the most lopsided of the decade

Entertaining piece from Puck Daddy on the most lopsided trades of the last 10 years. Gotta hand it to Nonis for stealing Luongo. Amazing, amazing work. Also, I had no idea that the pick we got turned out to be Shirokov. And as a bonus, Krajicek was later traded for SOB.

Globe and Mail article about Henrik Sedin

Not a lot new here, but a decent piece nonetheless. It will be interesting so see if/how Hank changes his game once Daniel is back on the scene.
