Hi M's fans, my name is Daniel, aka nucleard (the d is for Daniel!). This is my first year commenting at LL, and mainly I just post during game threads and make retarded comments about the uniforms and try to bite my tongue when I think of bad puns. I'd like to extend a huge thank-you to everyone who makes this site such a valuable and entertaining resource. I'm a Seattle native, born at Swedish, and I've been a Mariner's fan since birth — or at least since my first Mariner's game in the Kingdome in 1985, when I was seven years old. My Mariner fandom kicked into 3rd gear in the early days of the Big Unit and the Kid, and like with many people, it hit overdrive in the miracle year of 1995. I spent the last few years living on the East Coast where I wasn't able to follow the Mariners very closely, and perhaps this was a blessing in disguise given how dreadful the M's have been of late. But I grew up with awful Mariners teams and it never stopped me before.
For my first fanpost I'm writing a long one. Because it's a topic most M's fans think about all the time. We think about it so much that it's almost a forbidden topic at LL. The glaring, obvious shining dog-star of the Mariners in the 21st century has always been... I C H I R O (!). He's so freaking obvious that we never even talk about him. But this year has been different.
Ichiro appeared to be an alien robot for 10 years in Seattle. Here are robot-Ichiro's batting average, OPS+, BABIP, and WAR since becoming a Mariner. (Note: Jeff posted much of these ideas, but not all of them on August 18.)
