Music City Miracles Top Prospect of 2011

Aaron Schatz and Bill Barnwell of Football Outsiders posted an article to ESPN Insider yesterday with the top prospects of 2011.  Guess who came in at #1?  None other than our favorite underachieving tight end Jared Cook.  This is a make or break year for him and it seems as if not only Titans fans are aware of his untapped potential.  Just a quick caution: Last year they had Jacob Ford at #2, and he disappointed.  Read what they had to say about Cook after the jump:

Music City Miracles Titans Season Tickets - Need Help

I've been out of commission from the site, busy with college decisions and all, but it's great to be back.

So as a Titans fan from New Jersey I have the rare opportunity to get Titans season tickets as I attend Vanderbilt this upcoming fall.  I was just wondering if anyone knew the best place to get the best (and most reasonable) Titans season tix possible.  Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jordan

Music City Miracles Could the Titans be #1 in the Power Rankings?

Going into this week we were number 4.  Number 1 and 3 lost and 2 had a bye... We should definitely be in the top 2 with the Giants, probably with the Bills or Cowboys rounding out the top 3.

I know this doesn't matter but I think it'd be nice to see us as number 1 and get some national recognition.  I can't believe the Bears just held the Eagles on that goal-line stand.  Great Game.

Music City Miracles Why Merril Hoge is an idiot

Here on espn I have two separate links.  One is the sportscenter field pass and the other is the weekly "expert" picks.

On the fieldpass Merril picks the titans to win 21-10, yet on the "expert" picks Hoge picks the Vikings to beat the Titans.

What an idiot.  How does espn still employ him?

Music City Miracles Brady Out for Season?

Yahoo has a report by Michael Silver that claims Brady is out for the season with an ACL injury.  Considering Coach Belichick said they haven't done an MRI yet i'm not so positive, however a close friend of mine once had an ACL tear and said that the doctors could tell right away.

If this is true, let's see how good a coach Belichick is now and let's see how the aging Pats do without Brady.

Obviously, you never wish an injury upon anyone.  I personally wish him all the best, I love watching him play.

Music City Miracles Chad Javon Ocho Cinco

Chad Johnson has officially changed his name from Chad Johnson to Chad Ocho Cinco.

I don't know about you guys but I think this guy's hillarious; he's one of my favorite non-Titansin the NFL, maybe my favorite.

However, he should probably be more concerned with his ankle injury than changing his name.  I wonder if his jersey will now read "Ocho Cinco" permanently.

Music City Miracles Titans Fans 18th best in NFL

ESPN had an article on the best fans in the NFL.  Steelers 1, Packers 2.  Cardinals and Lions had the worst.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview08/columns/story?id=3549147

As a fan from New Jersey I'm not really involved with that but for all you season ticket holders you better step your game up!

By the way, we were 2nd in our division behind the Colts who were 16th.  Texans were 23 and Jags were 27.

Music City Miracles Dinger in at OC!

Titansonline.com has an article stating that Dinger is back on board!

This is great news and hopefully he and Vince can establish a good relationship and bring out the best in eachother.

Music City Miracles Scaife and other concerns

It seems more and more bad injury news keeps coming for the Titans.

Bo Scaife has been placed on IR with a lacerated liver and is obviously out for the playoffs.

Chris Brown, Kevin Mawae, Albert Haynesworth, Benji Olson, and Antwan Odom all sat out practice, as did Lendale White (personal reasons).

Roydell Williams had to leave practice early with an ankle injury, and Fisher said he didn't know about the extent of the injury.

We need some healthy players for this weeks game.  Thoughts go out to Bo, is that a serious injury?

Stampede Blue James Hardy

This question is for all you guys on this site who are also IU football fans.  How good of a pro prospect is James Hardy.  I have seen a few of his games and he looked great.  His size and playmaking ability seemed to project great in the NFL.

Also, where do you think he will get drafted in this year's draft.  As a Titans fan, we need a playmaking receiver badly.  Do you think he could fit our team?  It would be good to have someone with length who can catch Vince's not always entirely accurate throws.

Thanks and hope you guys can help.  I know atleast Marked Hoosier can help me.

Music City Miracles Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all those who read and comment on this site.  Without this site I do not know where I would vent all of my Titans concerns.  It has been an excellent year on the site and I truly appreciate Jimmy and the job he does here.  Thank you to everyone who contributes.  Let's have our resolutions be a prosperous and successful year both in Titans football and in everybody's lives.

Thanks again to everyone here.

Music City Miracles Steelers Sitaution

As of now, playoffstatus.com has in order for us to beat the Steelers, they will need to lose out.

I think that this may be incorrect.  The reason they probably have this is because Strength of Victory cannot be determined until the season is over.

Anyway, onto the math.

Assuming we beat the Jets and Colts and they lose to the Ravens, our conference records will be the same, and our common opponents record will both be 2-3.

Now onto strength of victory.  Currently, we have beaten teams with a combined win total of 48.  Assuming we beat the Jets and the Colts, our win total will be 62.

They have beaten teams with a combined win total of 53.  Assuming they beat the 3-11 Rams and lose to the Ravens, their win total will be 56.

However, it must be mentioned that these numbers are not final until the end of the season, and can very easily change.  It could turn out that if the Steelers lose in week 17, we could also be hoping for some teams that we have beaten to win and some teams that they have beaten to lose, this way our Strength of Victory will remain higher than theirs.

Just a thought

Music City Miracles Titans in the PRO BOWL!

Today the Pro Bowl teams were announced, and 3 Titans will be heading to Hawaii.

One of them was a sure thing, Big Al.

The other was a guy who definitely deserved it, KVB.

And the last, Mr. I make 60 yarders but then miss 20 yarders and blame my punter for it, Rob "my" Bironas.

Just kidding about Bironas, I love him!

Anyway, it's good to see some Titans get some recognition.  The only guy I have a problem with not getting there is Bulluck, but he hasn't had his best year this year.
I can't say anyone else really deserved it, maybe Ahmard Hall if they had backup fullbacks.

Adrian Peterson is starting for the NFC, thought that was pretty cool, so is Favre.

Music City Miracles Anyone Interested in Titans Tickets

Is anyone interested in tickets for the Titans Jets game?  I was supposed to go but unfortunately cannot make it.

They are in Sec 133 Row G (7 Rows behind the Titans Bench).

Looks as if the game will have important playoff implications and is the home finale.

Let me know if anyone is interested and we can come to a reasonable price.

Music City Miracles Running against the Jags

Last Time we played the Jags we ran all over them in week 1.  Chris Brown did pretty much all of that work, and it looks like he'll be ready to play this week.

The negative of this is that I think Fisher will decide to make Chris Henry inactive.

Brown was successful against the Jags with his speed, just imagine what Chris Henry could do.

If Brown is healthy, I hope Fisher decides to make all three of them active.  If he does that, I could see us putting up atleast 150-200 yards rushing next week.  Even if Henry is inactive I still think Lendale and CB could do that.

What do you guys think?

Who should be active? Lendale and Henry?  Lendale and Chris Brown?  All three?

Music City Miracles Newest Titan fined

The league announced the Titans defensive end Travis LaBoy has been fined $5,000 for a personal foul penalty in last week's game against Oakland. The fine stemmed from a fourth-quarter play in which LaBoy sacked quarterback Daunte Culpepper for a seven-yard loss, but dragged him down by the facemask, drawing a 15-yard penalty.

Music City Miracles Tonights Game

Tonight's game is a really big game between two division rivals, (as you all know), that is important to the Titans.

Do we want the Colts to win because we will most likely have to compete with the Jags for a wild card spot?

Do we want the Jags to win so we're only a game out of the division lead?

Leave your input, also maybe this could be used as the Monday Night Game thread if you all wish.

Music City Miracles Vanden Bosch Fined

Vanden Bosch was fined $7,500 for a low hit on Joey Harrington... He plans to appeal.  I can't think of the hit that they are talking about so if anyone has the video of that hit please post.

Music City Miracles A look at the remaining schedule.

Remaining Schedule

  10/14 at Tampa Bay

  10/21 at Houston

  10/28 OAKLAND

  11/04 CAROLINA

  11/11 JACKSONVILLE

  11/19 at Denver

  11/25 at Cincinatti

  12/02 HOUSTON

  12/09 SAN DIEGO

  12/16 at Kansas City

  12/23 N.Y. JETS

  12/30 at Indianapolis

  1.  While we have to play Indy again, it is Week 17 and it looks like they're playoff spot may be sealed.  They may sit some starters.
  2.  Our Next 2 Games: At Tampa and at Houston may be the toughest 2 game stretch we have left to go.  At Denver and at Cincy appeared to be tougher prior to this season... both teams are struggling.
  3.  The last 5 games, Houston home, San Diego home, at KC, Jets home, at Indy may all be very winnable.  The Chargers will probably pull it together by then though.
  4.  If we play the way we did against the Saints, not the way we did today, there really shouldn't be that many games that aren't winnable.
  5.  Another note about the next 2 weeks, they will be really tough games.  Hopefully the Bucs are going to be tired from the Indy game, plus they don't have Cadillac, and the Texans game is always a tough one.
I really like our shots at the playoffs this year, assuming we don't play like we did today ever again.

Music City Miracles Interesting Thought

I know that pretty much no Titans fans would want to think of this thought, but it is interesting...

Had we not traded Billy Volek to the Chargers, obviously VY would be starting by now, but do you guys think he would have gotten in as early as week 3?

I seriously doubt it.

Volek was a fairly decent quarterback who I personally liked, and there is no way he would have had as horrible a start as the infamous KColiins.

He would have atleast been able to pull out that Jets game at the least.

Interesting thought, I really thought we should have kept him as a backup.

Music City Miracles Dr. Z Showing More Love

Titans ranked #5 in the rankings after this past week, one spot up from last week.

His explanation for the jump is that the Steelers lost.  Hey, i'll take a boost without playing a game.

Jimmy, are you going to be doing power rankings again this week or skip them because its the bye week?

Music City Miracles AFC South's Popularity

A recent research project, which researched demographics of football fans in addition to the most popular teams in the league has the Colts at #2, Titans at #26, Texans at #31, and Jaguars at #32.

The rest of the interesting results can be seen here:

http://home.businesswire.com/portal/site/home/index.jsp?epi-content=NEWS_VIEW_POPUP_TYPE&newsId= 20071001005193&ndmHsc=v2*A1191247200000*B1191311634000*DgroupByIndustry*E1000171*G2*J1*N1000001& amp;newsLang=en&beanID=1802668732&viewID=news_view_popup

Sorry it's a really long link.

Tell me why you think this is, besides the teams being relatively new.

If you notice the Titans jumped after their superbowl appearance.

Music City Miracles Who is your all time favorite Titan?

Let's stick with Titans.  I know everyone loves Vince (and rightfully so), but is he your favorite Titan of all time?  No Oilers, just people who have played with the Titans. (Ha, thats for you Warren Moon fans).

I'm gonna get started and while Vince probably is mine and will forever be mine, it is a boring pick.

I'm gonna go Samari Rolle.  He was such a playmaker and I loved our defense back in the day.

(Plus he was amazing in video games)

Music City Miracles Hentrich

Hentrich is always regarded as one of the best punters in the league, however, he consistently does not have one of the best Punting averages in the league.  Is this intentional to prevent returns, and is it encouraged by Coach?  Also, he is not much better at  Punts inside the 20, except for last year.

Look at the Stats, while his punting remains nearly the same, I guess other punters are just improving.  What made me think of this was his 3 punts for an average of 30 yards each this past week.

                 Pnt Ave.              Inside 20

2006          42.7 (23)           32 (3rd)
2005          43.2 (15)           21 (22nd)
2004          42.7 (13)           20 (21st)

I like him a lot, but couldn't we find a young punter who can consistently boot the ball 60 yards and have Hentrich for short pooch kicks with needs of accuracy?

For example the Eagles picked up an Australian Rules Football Player Dirk Johnson who can boot it atleast 50, 55 almost every time.

Just a thought.

Music City Miracles Interesting Cut

Oakland cut defensive end Quentin Moses the 3rd Round Draft pick out of Georgia.

I have not been following him this preaseason so I don't know if he has not played well, but I'm pretty sure the Titans had some interest in him during the draft, and we could use all the help we can get at DE.

Any chance the Titans might consider picking him up?

Maybe he's hurt or not playing well or something, I don't know, but out of college it looked as if he had plenty of potential and was even projected higher than he fell in the draft.

Also how about Jeremy Bloom as a return man?  I personally do not think it's necessary but I've heard it brought up before.  I am happy with Cort Finnegan and Chris Davis (especially after that punt return).

Anyone else have any good cuts that the Titans might be interested please input.
