Knicks Origin Stories: The Early, Long-Forgotten Feud Between Tyson and Amare
All quotes taken from the following article:
http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2002-10-21/sports/0210210130_1_chandler-work-ethic-guess
I don't know if this is something that has been mentioned on P&T, but I just came across the story this evening...
Way back when in 2001, Amare was still a high-school prospect from the Orlando area, but his trash-talking was already at an NBA level. In an interview, he had some critical words for a few then-recent prep-to-pro players--specifically, Eddy Curry, Kwame Brown, and his future teammate, Tyson Chandler:
"I think my work ethic is a little higher than theirs, to be honest," Stoudemire said. "I saw those guys play. I even played against them. I played against Tyson. I saw Kwame play and Eddy play. In the game, they didn't really play hard, I guess, because the competition wasn't up to their level. They're not really playing hard now. I think my work ethic is a little higher than theirs. My attitude toward the game is a little higher than theirs."
Understandably, Tyson was nonplussed with the high schooler's confidence:
"My comment to him is that he better just come and work, since he works so hard," said Chandler, who was taken second overall by Chicago in the 2001 draft. "It's going to be a rude awakening."
Soon afterwards, Amare joined the Suns and the two squared off, with neither backing down:
"So this past week, Phoenix and Chicago met in a preseason game. Chandler received a technical foul for taunting Stoudemire and tried to turn the game into a 1-on-1 battle.
When Stoudemire fouled out of the game, Chandler waved goodbye, and the two stared at each other. Chandler finished with 17 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks. Coach Bill Cartwright criticized him afterward. Stoudemire played more balanced, and had 13 points and eight rebounds."
Some back story! Who knew? Obviously, both guys have moved on from this feud, but it's still an interesting anecdote considering they share the paint these days. I also have to call out a particularly amusing passage from the article regarding both players' styles:
"Their styles contrast, too. Stoudemire is a power player, a quick leaper and intimidator. Chandler is just as athletic, but he has more finesse to his game."
These days, it's hard to think that Chandler ever had more "finesse" to his game than STAT...I mean, he has literally made ONE jump shot this season, of the roughly 5 or so that he has attempted. Amare, on the other hand, has shot roughly 15,000 elbow jumpers in the shortened season.
Anyhow, thought this was an interesting story, even if the water is already under the bridge between the two, as it appears. As a Knick fan, you have to appreciate the fact that both of them have been aggressively confident from an early age.

THE SINGLE STRANGEST THING EVER
So I mentioned this in the comments under Seth's recap of today's game, but seriously...this is the weirdest story I've ever heard about an NBA player:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/j-r-smith-chinese-team-fined-him-more-004858221.html
To sum it up:
1. While in China, JR Smith got a panda.
2. Allegedly, his team fined him for playing with it too much.
3. HE NAMED IT BRAD GARRETT.
4. Who is Brad Garrett, you might ask? He's the actor who played the brother on "Everybody Loves Raymond." Why did JR name his panda that? Because Brad Garrett is JR Smith's favorite actor.
So to sum up, I have nothing to add. There is literally nothing I can add to that to make it a stranger story. I don't know if I'm the only one who hadn't heard about this (or maybe I'm the ONLY one, I don't know), but I had to share it with you guys.

Ian Begley: Amare to return in two weeks possibly???
So apparently, Amare's specific injury could have a faster healing process than originally thought...but I'd add the caveat that this random back specialist still doesn't know the specifics of Amare's injury, so take it with a grain of salt.
https://twitter.com/#!/IanBegley/status/184709758127841280
Ian Begley, via twitter:
Just talked to a back specialist who said, depending on how he responds to treatment, Amare could be back in 2 weeks if he forgoes surgery.
I just hope he doesn't rush it...
Knicks Reels Weekly Issue #6 - Better Lin Than Never!
So I'm a few days late posting this one, but I bet you can all guess what / who this issue is gonna be about. I know there have been a number of Jeremy-centric FanPosts over the last few days, and I hope I'm not repeating anything from them, but...as usual, I have scoured the web for the best Knicks clips I can find and compiled them here. Without any further delay, let's pick and roll the footage, Lin-Style!
Knicks Reels Weekly Issue #5...SPECIAL COMEDY EDITION!
So...yeah. Rough week, right?
Not too many positive themes I can take from the last few games to base this issue on, so I'm just gonna make this a special edition of Knicks Reels, devoted entirely to comical video clips. At this point, we could all use a laugh, I think.

Knicks Reels Weekly Issue #4
You know what? It's been a pretty inspiring week for us Knicks fans. Here are some of the improvements I've seen over the last couple of games:
- Iman Shumpert is ready to make a difference for our team, like, NOW.
- Tyson Chandler is being more seamlessly integrated on both ends of the floor.
- Josh Harrellson continues to do his thang, especially last night against the 76ers.
- Defense, that regal ghost from MSG's past, appears to be alive again.
Since those are my highlights from the week, I'm going to include a clip dedicated to each of them in my issue this week. Check 'em out!
Knicks Reels Weekly Issue #3
Maaaaaaaan. It's been a tumultuous week for us Knicks fans. And yet, nothing has changed. That's the only way I'd have my NBA team's regular season--tumultuous. If it's the playoffs? Absolutely go ahead and sweep all haters. When it's the regular season, though...yeah, I'm all for a little soul-searching and team-building. Tonight against Sacramento, we got some of that regular season ish served on a silver platter--whipped up by the newly promoted starting PF Josh Harrellson and the surprisingly mercurial Landry Fields. Both of them stepped up tonight (simultaneously through their individual contributions and their radiating effect on overall team ball movement), so I'm making them the headliners in my--as always--heavily researched video clip selections.
JOSH HARRELSON
To all of you who are still curious as to how Jorts remembers the bestowing of his nickname, he spells it out in a polite fashion in this clip:
Ah. aHAHA. YESSIR, young rook. But what makes Jorts Jorts?
I appreciate the swag in the above video...keep bringing it to the pro-level. But what about our unquestionably favorite son, Landry Fields? Are their any clips out there that most of us have yet to witness? I searched YouTube and beyond to find this one, made by one of Landry's legendary uber-fans:
One more gander at Lander(y), for good measure...this is a signature Landry moment from early last season, when Fields showed us all how he can make plays without being featured offense...he's starting to show signs of life in this area of his game over the last two games...
OK, that's enough of a tribute to those two fellas; again though, MDA & Co. needs to focus on how to make those two youngsters (and other non-STAT/MELO players like them) active offensive contributors moving forward this season.
But let's move on...I started this issue with a strange desire to see what kind of player Amare was from the beginning...this is the earliest clip I could find:
As I suspected; he made fools of people from the get-go. I want to see him start doing this again, as soon as that ankle is 100%. Come on STAT; New York loves you first and foremost, and we know what you can do. Bring the aggression...even if I like your newly discovered 3-pt range.
I also thought our most recently-added starting center had a nice game tonight, and I felt obliged to include at least one TC clip in this issue. Melo and Tyson had a connection like this in tonight's game, but this one from the first game against BOS is a good substitute, and the only one available on YouTube:
And finally, here's the classic Knicks Clip for the week, featuring one of my favorites, Earl Monroe, describing his general career path (including non-NYK moments):

Knick Reels Weekly Issue (Inaugural Post)
Hey P&T'ers,
So I've always enjoyed scouring the web for clips, highlights, video interviews, or anything pertaining to the Knicks (or particularly hilarious NBA-related ones) and compiling them into FanPosts. To that end, I've decided to start a weekly fan post tradition where I bring the best of these links from the web onto a single page...also, I'll be making a particular effort not to repeat things that Seth has already linked to, so hopefully all of the clips will be fresh and awesome. Also, I'll throw one vintage clip in per week, the obscurer the better. Having said that, let the clip-watching begin!

Surprising & Surmising: Statistics Regarding Our Backcourt From Last Year
These numbers come from an NBA.com article, and surprisingly, as much as we liked Felton last year, and as much as most people think Billups was the best distributor we had at the end of the season, these numbers suggest that we may have a better situation moving forward than most of us think:
Hey, everybody! Get it right, already!
Unlikely yet Reasonable non-CP3 Trade Scenario
Precursor: I know this will never happen, but it's far more realistic than all of the CP3 talk that's going on, so I figured it was worth putting out there...at least to divert from those discussions.
There's all this talk about trading half of our team for CP3, but there's another potential deal out there that we should be considering to improve our team on the short term. To accomplish it, we'd only have to trade Chauncey and one other asset.
PHO gets: Chauncey Billups & one low-salary player (Disclaimer: not Fields, TD, or Shumpert)
NYK gets: Steve Nash
Why the hell not? Phoenix absolutely should trade Nash at this point; it's become painful to watch him languish on a borderline playoff team. For the Suns, the time to start rebuilding is now, and Chauncey can be flipped for a number of different possible assets before the trade deadline this season; this trade also allows them to appear gracious to a player that has given them the best part of his career by moving Nash to a city that he loves and a team with a chance to win.
The Knicks, meanwhile, don't have to give up their best young assets to acquire him as opposed to Paul, and (this is where my personal opinion comes in), would be way better off with Nash than with Billups in the shortened season.
Best of all for all you 2012 off-season prospectors, Nash's contract only has this season remaining. We would not be committing to anything beyond this season, so the flexibility would remain, as well as our young talent.
Look, you and I both know it will never happen because Phoenix has the most stubborn front office in the league, but for kicks, I want to ask you guys the following three questions:
Would you rather have Billups or Nash?
Would the potential opportunity to resign Nash at a bargain after this season make this deal even sweeter, or would you discard him?
Who would you rather swap Billups for before the deadline, if anybody?
From Chauncey's perspective, keep in mind that Phoenix is the second closest NBA city to Billups' hometown of Denver (and he already has a ring...), so he would be closer to his family and desired place of retirement.
Now that I'm done outlining my argument, let's hear why I'm wrong.
Looking forward to P&T Game Threads, everybody!
What is Clyde looking at?
Check out the video at the following link:
http://knicksnow.com/posts/1684-1994-march-to-the-finals-nba-finals-games-5-6-7
During the beginning of the video while Spero is delivering the intro, Clyde keeps alternating between looking at the camera and glancing down at something on the floor with a distracted look. After watching this video (and having not seen Clyde on tape in quite a while), I realized that this was something I'd seen with him before. What do you suppose he is looking at? It clearly has his attention. And before you suggest it's the teleprompter, he isn't delivering any packaged lines at this point, and teleprompters are almost always located directly next to the camera to facilitate continued eye contact. Here are my initial guesses:
Any other ideas?

Yo Seth - I Dare Ya!
I dare you to replace the current sign on your street with this one, in ironic honor of the recent good news. If you do it, I want to know how long it lasts before someone changes it. I also want to know if there would be any suspects other than you.
I will buy you an autographed picture of Anthony Mason's Knicks haircut from NBA.com and ship it to you if I receive photographic evidence. Especially photographs of police investigating the scene.
WE BACK
How Strange the Change from Major to Minor
Aw, man. I know that song is about two lovers, but I'll be honest--that's what I consider myself and watching basketball to be. And the separation anxiety that this song tells of I know only too well.
All season long, I felt like the Knicks were a lovely song in a major key; the early struggle leading to the long winning streak, the addition of Melo (although there were some minor sevenths thrown in there at the loss of Gallo, Wil, et al), and the first playoff appearance in years. Then it faded away, and I'm left with a minor dirge.
What will happen to me if there is no league? Will I only be sated by KD destroying people in pickup games, Deron & Co balling overseas, and the random picture of Amare smiling in a trendy outfit? That's like trading out Coltrane for Kenny G.
I need to see Shumpert and Jorts develop in the summer league, preseason, and spare minutes throughout the year. Will it happen?
I need to see Amare, Melo, and MDA co-exist for the first time together for a full year. Will it happen?
I need to see Landry continue to develop his game and bounce back strong from a late-season fade. Will it happen?
I need to see TD DWTDD. Will it happen?
I need to see the new Garden in person, but at a Knicks game, not a Rangers game. Will it happen?
I need to see a Knick bench without Eddy Curry lingering nearby. Will it happen?
Sadly, it seems the answer to all of the above questions is no. So what can I do?
- Watch paint dry.
- Stare at the corner of my walls.
- Do actual work for grad school.
- Watch baseball and football.
- Play the new NBA2K endlessly.
- Teach my dog Clyde to rhyme words at appropriate times.
I suppose I'll make it through, as we all will. But it sucks, like a lot.
Any other suggestions of things to do in the meantime (the in-between time)?
I've suddenly got 82 evenings free, it looks like.
Here Ya Go, Seth
Something to post if you want...in this video, Tyson Chandler, Scoop Jackson, and Landry Fields sit around pretending to drink what appears to be a significant serving of Jim Beam each, while Tyson talks about what it feels like to win a championship and Landry responds. Pretty banal, except for the fact that there is some Knicks-related banter at the end, which can only amount to nothing unless Tyson agrees to a deal for 1.5 million bottles of JB. Check em out!

I hope you all understand
that the past month has been very difficult as a Knicks fan and so I am changing allegiances to the Sacramento Kings. Who knows, they may move to Queens! The Queens Kings has a nice ring to it. They have an exciting group of young and old players and two bad-ass brother owners. Their color is purple (my favorite) and I like teams from non-descript cities like Sacramento.
Also, Carmelo's over-ratedness is under-rated, and Amare has no fashion sense, so it's time for me to move on. I only became a Knick fan because of Jackie Butler anyways, and look how they treated him. Then Curry comes along, OUR SAVIOR, and his talents are squandered.
That's all for now. I'm going out back to burn my 5 pairs of Starbury's and make a paper crown for myself to wear for the first Kings game I watch as a new fan. It's been fun!

Who do you want to face in the first round?
Hello, errybody. So currently, the Knicks are sitting on the 6th seed, with the potential to move up or down from there...if we move up, it seems likely that we would play the Magic in the first round. If we stand pat, probably Miami. If we fall behind Philadelphia, we would probably draw the Bulls. Who do you feel most excited or nervous about playing in the first round? For me, I'd actually be least interested in playing the Magic in the first round, due to their considerable size advantage over us. This means I'd be happier with the Knicks being the 6th or 7th seed than the 5th. Considering none of those seeds would earn us home court advantage, it really is all about who we'd want to face. Obviously, the team will try to win as many games as possible and would consider the 5th seed a victory, but it may be the fastest ticket out of the playoffs.
Against the Magic, we would struggle to contain their size, as mentioned before, but they are also a particularly strong outside shooting team with a defensive anchor in D12. Melo might be particularly effective against them, as they have nobody (outside of J-Rich, possibly) who can guard him. Amare vs. Dwight is a bunch of technical fouls waiting to happen, as we have seen throughout this season and particularly when they have matched up against each other. Another problem with them is Jameer...he's exactly the kind of quick guard that Chauncey would struggle to defend, although we'd always have TD waiting in the wing to swipe any weak passes. Ultimately, not the best matchup, in my opinion. Here's my matchup breakdown:
Billups vs. Nelson: Tough to call, as Billups is decidedly smarter and better at running an offense, but Nelson can break down opposing defenses by getting around slower guards like Billups. I imagine that they'd take turns dominating each other from game to game, even quarter to quarter.
Fields vs. J Rich: Completely different players, with different impacts on their teams. I like Fields' ability to guard anyone, and if he can earn the upper hand in this matchup, it would be a huge boon for the Knicks.
Melo vs. Hedo: Melo should be able to destroy Hedo off the dribble, and Turkoglu's been on a steady decline the past few years. This would be a crucial matchup for us to dominate.
Amare vs. Anderson: Clear advantage for us here, but there will be a lot of switching due to Anderson's outside game and the Magic's desire to put Howard on Amare. It would be interesting to see how this plays out.
Jeffries/Turiaf vs. Howard: The biggest problem in the matchup, as neither of these guys has the combined size/strength to stop Howard. Jeffries may help on defense in general, but he'd be hard pressed to leave Dwight to help as that would lead to many alley-oops. Not the best matchup for him.
Against the Bulls, we have had a surprising amount of success this season, even if it was pre-trade. Amare has beasted against them, as have our outside shooters. Obviously, you have to be concerned about Derrick Rose, because he may be the hardest player to guard in the league off the dribble. Still, we match up relatively well with them; one thing to consider is that we have not played them with both Boozer and Noah on the floor, so it remains to be seen how the Knicks would handle that duo. Individual matchups:
Billups vs. Rose: Not to take anything away from Chauncey, but I don't even need to write about how hard it will be to stop Rose in the playoffs.
Fields vs. Korver: I may be wrong about their starting two, but I'm pretty sure it's Korver. I like Fields in this matchup, since he offers more things on both ends of the floor than Korver and can be counted on to stick to Korver and prevent outside shots.
Deng vs. Melo: Melo has a decided advantage, but he'd really need to dominate Deng for us to make up for deficiencies elsewhere, like on the front line and the point guard matchup.
Boozer vs. Amare: I'll take Amare all day, but he'd really need to be composed defensively to be able to maximize the Knicks' advantage and stay on the floor.
Jeffries/Turiaf vs. Noah: Just a bunch of hustling, defensive-minded big men, though Noah is undoubtedly the best of the bunch, so it would be hard to say the Knicks have an advantage here.
Against the Heat, the Knicks would have possibly the most intriguing upset possibility and a number of weird matchups. The Heat's lack of effective size bodes well for the Knicks, but there is always the Lebron / Wade dilemma. Both teams are effective at pushing the pace, but neither one has shown real commitment on the defensive end. Whichever team brings the stronger defensive effort would come away with the series win, in my mind. Individual matchups:
Billups vs. Kermit the Frog: This is the best possible matchup for Chauncey, as Bibby has lost a few steps himself and is the weakest potential point guard we'd face. Billups is also a better shooter and defender, so I like this one for the Knicks.
Wade vs. Fields: Landry has been pretty Landry when guarding Wade, but Dwyane is ultimately an impossible guy to completely contain. I imagine that Wade would shoulder a pretty heavy offensive burden in this matchup, so maybe Fields can capitalize on that by making him work on both ends of the floor.
Melo vs. Lebron: The most exciting potential matchup of all. Obviously, Lebron is one of the top three players in the league, so it's hard to say the Knicks would have an advantage, but it is also becoming abundantly clear that Melo has the cojones that Lebron doesn't in late game situations. Forcing Lebron to guard Melo will also take him off his game more than the other way around, I think.
Bosh vs. Amare: DESTROY HIM, AMARE. Seriously, Bosh can be effective in spurts, but Amare should be able to out-tough Bosh consistently and win this matchup handily.
Turiaf/Jeffries vs. Anthony/Ilgauskas/Dampier: Weird stuff here, as nobody really jumps out as a dominant force. I think that Jeffries stands to play his best against the Heat because he can thrive by helping off of Miami's bigs on defense. I don't see any advantage here for either team really, though.
That's about it. I'd love to hear what you guys have to say about this, as the season is turning the final corner and we start jockeying for playoff positioning. Fanposts have been a bit weak recently, so I'd like to see some intelligent discussion on this topic, since it may be the most important developing story for the rest of the season. I'm DONE
New Uniforms Next Season?
http://www.iamagm.com/news/2011/02/17/knicks.could.have.uniform.change.next.season.more.retro
Alan Hahn is apparently reporting that the Knicks could be wearing those throwback uni's we've seen twice this season ALL the time, starting next year. To me this is just about as awesome as it gets; the brighter blue and oranges are great, and I love that logo on the shorts. Who else would be stoked about this?
Breaking News / Hilarity
A little surprised at the timing of this story:
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nba/news/story?id=6038636
So, now what for Denver? I'm really not all that interested in trading for Melo, but I think with this new twist it becomes an interesting story that we have to follow either way. If Anthony's not going to the Nets, where can he be headed? Is he staying in Denver for the rest of the season? Just from a general basketball (non-Knicks) viewpoint, I'm fascinated by this story. It's completely different from the FA shenanigans this summer--both less damning and decidedly more chaotic. Maybe a new trade where we could somehow bring Nene to the Garden could happen now?

Our Future Backup PG
I mentioned in this in a comment on an earlier post, but if we're gonna trade Anthony Randolph for a first round pick, there's one player in particular I want to see in the orange and blue as a result -- Jimmer Fredette. Obviously it's wayyyy early to be talking about this, but let's take a look at the guy for some prospectin' fun, shall we? I mean, it's way better than talking about in-season trades for players from the West that hopefully won't happen.
Last year, when the Knicks worked Fredette out, we considered him to only be a second-round prospect. Given his play this season in college, however, it is starting to look like he'll go earlier. Here's Chad Ford:
Chad Ford on Jimmer's Recent Surge
Text from the above article: That's all the text you get without being an Insider.
For the past few weeks, the most frequent question in my inbox goes something like this: "Why isn't BYU's Jimmer Fredette ranked higher on your Big Board?"
It's a good question. If you're a college basketball fan and don't know who Fredette is, you're missing something special. He's having a scintillating senior season, leading the NCAA in scoring with a 26. 1 ppg average while shooting 48 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3. He averages 4.4 assists per game, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
On Tuesday, Fredette went nuts on Utah, scoring 47 points on 16-for-28 shooting. He dropped 39 points on UNLV in Vegas and 33 points against Arizona this season.
There's a growing consensus that Fredette, along with UConn's Kemba Walker and Duke's injured Kyrie Irving, is one of the three best guards in the country.
But while Irving and Walker are frequently mentioned as potential lottery picks in the 2011 NBA draft, NBA scouts get a bit squeamish when it comes to Fredette.
That's all the text you get without being an Insider. I still think the Knicks can get him if we trade for a solid first round slot.
Here are some highlights to explain the man:
What do you guys think? Is this our man for the future? I actually think he'd even play well with TD in the backcourt. I also like the fact that he has been seasoned in college for a few years, like a certain starting SG on our current roster. I would love for this kid to end up in MSG.

Knicks-Lakers Photojournal
While the game last night wasn't very much fun to watch from a Knick fan's perspective, I brought along my camera and took shots of some of the stuff that I found amusing, on court and off. Let's start with the pre-game, shall we?
Spike sat courtside, with his equally orange buddy. Anyone know who that is?
One day, soon hopefully, this profile will grace the official U.S. dime. Resplendence, anyone? I thought so.
Like most stadiums, the Staples Center has a memorabilia gift shop. Unlike most stadiums, they sell creepy oil paintings of Jack Nicholson. Sorry for the blurriness, but I wasn't supposed to take a picture of this so I had to snap it fast.
I don't need to tell you this, but clearly Spike has connections when he has a throwback Landry Fields jersey.
So the dude on the left in the white fur coat was hovering around Clyde for quite a while. I don't know if he was a fan, but he appeared to have unlimited access to the Legend. It was strange, to say the least. For a better look at him, see below.
Perhaps he's David Crosby's brother?
No, this isn't that actor from Glee. It's Luke Walton telling us to behave ourselves in the arena. He probably should have just gone up to Ron Artest directly rather than use the Jumbotron.
Gearing up for the night's action...
Amare posing for the crowd. Who knew he likes to do that?
Free throw poopin' on the big screen.
Kobe better watch himself.
Eddy Curry and Ronny Turiaf, ladies and gentlemen.
I didn't get that many good action shots or bench shots, mainly because I was busy watching the game like an actual fan, and then things got ugly. There are some pictures of Jack Nicholson, Denzel, et al, but you've probably seen it all before. One last thing...I also attended the Clippers-Knicks game in November, and recently I realized that I was posterized by Blake Griffin alongside Mozgov. If you look at the image below, I'm the guy in the Knicks shirt in the bottom left corner with a look of consternation on my face.
Timofey, all I can say is I was there for you in your lowest, groiniest moment.
Later everybody

Here's My Plan For Tonight's Game
I'm going to bring two things to the game:
1. A sign reading "Poop"
2. A sweet camera I'm borrowing from a friend with 20x optical zoom
My plan is to create a photojournal of the game, starting about 40 minutes before tip-off. I'll try to show the craziness / laziness of Staples Center, as well as some candid moments of the bench, action shots, etc. Any suggestions of things to try to capture on film? I'll post it either later tonight or tomorrow.
Projecting Forward Is Impossible At This Point
Or at least past this regular season. Here's the major reason why, and I think this information should color everyone's future trade ideas / FA signings. We really can't know what is going to happen at this point, regarding Wil, Melo, and all of that.
From Larry Coon's Chat on Hoopsworld: ( http://www.hoopsworld.com/Chat.asp?CHAT_TOPICS_ID=1363#ixzz1ACMoELXH )
Wilson Chandler is a restricted free agent this coming summer, what are the chances of resigning him and signing Melo? I know their capspace is going to be 12 to 16 million if they renounce some players under the current CBA.
The CBA expires on July 1, so we have no idea what their cap space will be, nor whether Bird rights or restricted free agency will exist under the new agreement. So there's really no way to project whether they'll be able to keep Chandler while having enough cap room to sign Melo. It's just impossible to preduct right now. I'm guessing no, since I'm guessing that the cap will likely be more restrictive than it is now.
Whoops: Chad Ford on Landry Fields
It's always nice for the Knicks to outsmart everyone on Draft Night, because it has rarely happened. ESPN's Chad Ford discusses how he and just about everyone else incorrectly dissed the Landry Fields pick. After the jump:
