The Obama Bracket Challenge
See if you can beat President Obama's bracket predictions.
And how's this for bragging rights: we'll publish a list of everyone who does better than the President here on BarackObama.com after the tournament is over.
Ah Sir Charles
via www.searchengineoptimizationx.com
It's good to see Charles Barkley trolling on the Big East again. He is in the studio for the CBS Pregame show toda and went through his tips for filling out a bracket. He included the requisite pick a 12 or 13 seed. He trolled at Duke a little saying that you should eliminate them before the Regional Finals. Then said Pick no Big East teams for the Final Four. Oh it's going to be fun listening to him for the next few weeks instead of Gotllieb.
I need to fill some space so I'm just going to type a rambling, run on sentence because I have nothing else to say but need to get to one hundred and fifty words to post this Fan Post because SB Nation dictates how long our thoughts must be, yet they are our own thoughts even if someone else is thinking it too and Go Orange!
Market for BE Champ Tix Plummeted
Someone over at Casual Hoya was posting the "Starting At" prices on Stubhub for tickets to Saturday night's championship game. It's eye opening how much the interest in that game on the secondary market dropped when we were out of the tourney:

How UConn got the 9 seed instead of Seton Hall (Other than SHU shitting the bed against DePaul)
Got this from the UConn Blog:
So how did the Huskies get here? Let's give this a shot:
- Seton Hall's loss moved the Huskies into a tie for 9th with the Pirates. Both finished 8-10 in the conference.
- Since they split their regular season series, the conference tiebreaking procedures meant that their record against the best team in the conference would decide seeding. If their records were equal (or if no team could game a decisive advantage with an unequal amount of games) then we move down the list to the next team.
- Both teams lost to Syracuse.
- Both teams lost to Marquette.
- Georgetown, South Florida and Cincinnati all finished 12-6. Both teams finished 1-2 against those teams.
- Both teams lost to Louisville.
- Both teams beat West Virginia.
- Rutgers and St. John's tied at 6-12. UConn went 1-1 against those teams and Seton Hall went 2-1. Since the Huskies could have matched Seton Hall's record with another game, we don't stop there.
- Finally, we get to Pittsburgh and Villanova, who went 5-13. UConn went 2-0 against those teams and Seton Hall went 1-1. The tie is finally broken.
Simple, right?
Update on the Ladies
No. 12 seed Syracuse (18-13) opened the 2012 BIG EAST women's basketball championship presented by American Eagle Outfitters with a 57-47 win over No. 13 seed Providence (13-17). Junior Kayla Alexander had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Orange, while senior teammate Iasia Hemingway added 15.
Providence scored the first point of the game, a free throw, before Syracuse answered with the first field goal of the contest and led 2-1. The Orange never trailed the rest of the game.
Both teams were sluggish from the field. The Orange shot 31.7-percent, including 0-6 from 3-point range. Providence shot 30.6-percent from the field, and was just 1-of-12 from 3-point range.
Junior Symone Roberts led the Friars with 12 points.
With the win, the Orange advance to play No. 5 seed West Virginia on Saturday at Noon. It is the third straight year Syracuse has won its opening game of the BIG EAST tournament.
Rush Limbaugh calls Georgetown students sluts.
That's what I got out of this article.

Jerry Palm's (CBS Sports) Bracketology
He has 10 BE Teams in. Yet 4 of them are in our region, and only 1 BE team in the West. (Marquette) How the hell is that legal?
Top 10 Tuesday: Senior game-changers
3. Scoop Jardine (Syracuse): In March, point guard poise is crucial. A team’s talent pool means little if it doesn’t have a floor leader who can stay under control. Jardine has a 2.5 assist-to-turnover ratio in Big East play (5.8 apg, 2.3 tpg). The senior might not make large contributions to Syracuse’s offensive output in the NCAA tournament (8.9 ppg), but his playmaking and leadership will prove vital for a Syracuse team that’s capable of winning another national title for Jim Boeheim. And he’s also been a crucial leader off the floor. Throughout the Bernie Fine drama, Jardine helped his team remain focused.
Cuse Classics - 6 OT Edition
As the season is winding down, the opportunities to see Syracuse University's teams on ESPN Classic, or other channels is slowing to a trickle. However, next week we do get 2 classic games to watch, if they catch your fancy.

2012-2013 Hoops Schedule
We've all talked ad nausea about how we think the Big East is going to spite us (and Pitt) next year in regards to the football schedule. But we haven't mentioned the potential basketball schedule. For us, attendance wise, hoops is our money maker. The fans come out in droves. We represent well and when ESPN (or CBS) shows the dome filled with 30K + fans, it's a huge recruiting tool.
My question to you, fellow Nunesers, what's to stop the Big East schedule gods from giving us a less than favorable hoops schedule as well?
Here is one example of how I see us being screwed a bit. First, a note on the Home and Homes. Since West Virginia is out, there would be four H-H match-ups next year instead of three., assuming the Big East sticks with 18 conference games.
Home Away
Providence H-H Providence
South Florida H-H South Florida
DePaul H-H DePaul
Pittsburgh H-H Pittsburgh
St John's Georgetown
Rutgers Villanova
Seton Hall UConn
Cincinnati Notre Dame
Marquette Louisiville
Obviously, this is an extreme schedule, but it is certainly feasible. We would get home and homes with the 3 "Bottom Feeders" (I understand USF is having a great season, but really....) plus fellow defector Pitt. All 3 NYC area schools would come to us, so we wouldn't be able to have an appearance in the NYC area. Road games at GTown, Nova, UConn, ND and Louisville - all games that could garner a 30K + attendance mark. And home games with Cincy and Marquette - Would anyone really get up for those games?
Now again, this is an extreme schedule. But would any of you be shocked if something similar to this is released next summer? I sure has hell wouldn't.
Cuse Classics update as I watch some ESPN Classic.
I'm watching the 85 G-Town Cuse game on ESPN Classic and noticed that G-Town mascot and cheerleaders made the road trip. You don't see mascots and cheerleaders making road trips anymore. (PS, Raftery on the call)
Without further ado, here are the upcoming games on TV:
ESPN Classic
Monday, February 6 - 3pm - (14) Georgetown vs (8) Syracuse from 3/7/86 (BE Semifinal)
Tuesday, February 7 - 2am - (14) Syracuse vs Georgetown from 2/7/94

Wednesday, February 8 - 4am - (13) Georgetown vs (17) Syracuse from 1/10/83
Wednesday, February 8 - 10:30am - (10) Syracuse vs (13) Georgetown from 1/30/95
Wednesday, February 8 - 2:30pm - (15) Syracuse vs Georgetown from 3/1/03
Monday, February 13 - 3pm - Louisville vs (3) Syracuse from 2/14/10
