The Bynum Question: To Injured Bigs Past!

The Sixers have a major decision to make regarding Andrew Bynum. LB-favorite nyunole takes a look at how some other bigs bounced back from injury.

Very, Very Late Sixers Season Preview

We're all feeling very optimistic about the Sixers chances this season!

KJ Brophy - ESPN's Next Talking Head?

Was perusing some high calorie, low nutrient sports flavored product on the interwebs when I stumbled across a posting on the WWL featuring a tweet from a fellow LB commenter. Let us know when you'll be going on First Take. If you use logic to make Skip's head explode, I'll buy you a Fresca.

Ricky Bobby's Law

One rather annoying trend in the world of sports is the decreasing importance of the regular season. In just the past 12 months, we’ve seen the Squirrels of St. Louis, Tom Effin Couglin /Eli...

Breaks of the Game - Kindle Version

+

As a formerly avid, through increasingly occasional but still fond, Bill Simmons reader, I've wanted to pick this book up for the longest time. A few months ago, I saw it was available for pre-order on the Kindle. I just followed up and found out that it comes out tomorrow. I haven't read it, so I can't recommend it. Just a heads up to anyone else intrigued by how much Simmons has gushed over this book.

Hubie Brown Article From 1983

+

Jack McCallum has an article up about Hubie Brown that references this hilarious article from 1983. I laughed out loud on multiple occasions, particularly the segment on Bill Russell--broadcaster, champion, "moron". I'd like to imagine the described coaches association meeting on Long Island resembled Semi-Pro's depiction of an ABA owners meeting.

Grantland: Oden on Oden

My brain still says, "Oh, God, no!" But after another soul crushing Sixers season, wouldn't it be kinda fun to unabashedly root for this guy to make it on our team? I'd be more interested in reading about his rehab than watching Hawes play. Not exactly the standard for building championship contenders....as if that's the SIxers standard.

Sixers History: Game 6s

Here's an odd and not at all comforting fact: since moving to Philly, the 76ers have never closed out a series in a Game 6 at home. But, small sample size, as they are only 0-2 in such situations,...

Speezy & The Grizz Blow Unblowable Lead, Lose to Evans, Clippers

+

I had this game on while doing laundry. As the linked 4th quarter play-by-play indicates, Speezy was on the court as the lead was trimmed from 14 to 3. So the lead was already melting when they went to Speights. Obviously Taylor's thinking....I don't know what the hell he's thinking. His most noticeable contribution was missing an unmissable layup. I'm sure this will find it's way into the highlight reels, as nothing sums up an inexplicable collapse like footage of an inexcusable miss. Evans was all over the place in the fourth quarter, gettin' chippy when the game was all but over, grabbing board after board, and even making the bucket that gave LAC a 1 point lead. Honestly, I may have had more fun watching these former Sixers go at it than watching the actual Sixers play Chicago.
