NFL seizes $5 million in fake Super Bowl gear
So, they found 2 T-shirts and a foam finger?
I CAN'T BELIEVE HE DID THAT!
We need to speed this week up guys...RIGHT? So, let's have some fun today.
This is an idea I came up with like 4 seconds ago and I'll admit that I haven't really put much thought into it. It could be a lot of fun or it could be a non-starter. Oh well...check this out:
So, Plaxico Burress helped the Giants win Super Bowl 42, right? Yes, but did you know he also shot himself in the leg inside of a nightclub while wearing sweat pants? I'm pretty sure that this shot also killed the Giants chances of repeating as Super Bowl Champions. Good Ole Plaxico served time in a New York State penitentiary and then was signed by Big Blue's "Little Bro" where he was one piece of the radioactive jig-saw puzzle known as the New York Jets locker room.
So, if you didn't know that was all true it would sound hilarious, right? RIGHT? Let's make some new hilarious player/coach antics that we could all witness next season.
Maybe something like...
Osi Umenyiora has been arrested for defrauding a non-profit organization in a suburb of Atlanta. Witnesses reported that the ny Giants DE had volunteered at "Meals-on-Wheels" in early March but complaints from those needing help began arriving at "Meals-on-wheels" almost immediately. Apparently, the meals that Mr. Umenyiora was responsible for delivering were not arriving to their promised recipients and a representative was immediately sent to Mr. Umenyiora's residence to investigate the "mystery of the missing meals". Mr. Umenyiora welcomed the investigator into his home, where upon entering the mystery was quickly solved. When asked why he hadn't delivered the 375 meals that were scattered around his home, Mr. Umenyiora explained that he wanted to take "test bites" out of each piece of food to make sure it was "tasty". He then asked the rep if he could help with the taste testing because "I'm kinda full right now".
Whatever...it may not be perfect but you guys are funny.
For the Football Gods - use both Giants and Patriots so this doesn't anger them.

It would be fun. We could probably commute to work maybe, and, you know, come home, eat dinner together and have the kids be playing. Twin beds ... we could share notes on opponents and watch some film together.
Asked if he would like sharing his city with his brother
Eli Manning - NFL.com
One drive, game on the line; which QB would you most want to have?
Rodgers, Brady, Brees, and Tebow are the four choices.
I find it odd that Eli wasn't even an option to choose on this poll at NFL.com. How many times does Brees need to carry his team to a victory in the 4th qrt? Aren't they usually up by 1000 points by halftime?
YES!
That is all!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I CAN'T TAKE THE WAIT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Excuses Caption Contest
What a wonderful win, right? It's amazing how the game played out with so many parallels to the Super Bowl. It seems almost scripted when you think about it. People can talk about a weak Patriots defense or those damn lucky NY Giants all they want but none of that matters. Now, I know SB42 is ancient history but this was the first real shot for NE to pay us back and they whiffed. Well, whiffed may not be accurate because it was a great game. A game in which the Giants once again experienced a 'Perfect Ending'.
Giants fans should have no problem captioning a post-game greeting between Eli and his apprentice...right?

Did the Giants get Fat Albert fired?
YES. Check out this article from Boston.com. It explains how Snee and Diehl essentially ripped up Haynesworth's contract on Sunday.
Caption Contest...Reloaded
If I'm being honest...I completely lost track of the "Caption Contest" series. So, it needs to be reloaded. We all know what it's all about and the winner is determined by the amount of rec's your comment receives. Please, feel free to post as many captions as you'd like and you can definitely vote for multiple comments.
So, The Always Well Dressed suggested that we use the photo below for this contest and I have to agree with him because it's a good one. We should be treated to some funny stuff.
Jacobs, Cruz, Pascoe, and Ballard celebrating in the endzone after Jacobs' touchdown.
You know what to do...

Caption Contest 4...Again
We are going to try this again. I, along with a few of our friends, don't think that the photo from yesterday's post was the best for a caption contest. So, I'm gonna throw another one out there...

I think that this one is better suited for our little game.

Caption Contest 4...Anyone?
Okay, to refresh our memories, here is the photo from the last contest...
We had a tie on the last one...both with 14 recs.
Rorschach44 offered this this beauty:
Tom: "Hey #10 come here! ….(whispering) Now listen Peyton, tone this down a little bit or else someone’s gonna realize something’s up".
tito (eight and oh) matched that with:
Tom: "Damn! Your hand is COLD!" ::shivers::
Eli: "Sorry Coach, the ice doesn’t usually leave my veins until about an hour after the game."
If you didn't get a chance to see the last one you should definitely go check it out here...Caption Contest 3...Anyone
Now, let us get on with this!

THANK YOU FOR THE WELL WISHES
I will like to thank all the Giants fans, Twitter followers and Facebook friends for all the get well wishes.
I have been away for a while; I was devastated after the injury. I had to get away to gather my thoughts, that is why I haven’t been active on Twitter and Facebook. I truly appreciate all my fans and followers; I feel that I let everybody down.
I worked very hard this offseason as many of my followers may know. I sent many tweets about my workouts to the public and my friends know that worked my butt off this past offseason to achieve the expectations that I set out for myself and the expectations of the Giants organization.
This is the biggest example of life doesn’t always goes as planned. God has a plan for you and sometimes you can’t question or understand it but you have to go with it and this is what God has planned for me. I hope my story returning to football after this injury will motivate others not just athletes but everyone, you need to rise above the situation when life gives you an unexpected event or challenge. You have to keep striving towards your goals.
I finally got my surgery date; it is next Friday. I am excited to get my rehab started. I am planning to keep my fans and followers updated throughout my rehabilitation by using Twitter, Vimeo, Facebook and my site. I plan to interact with my fans throughout the process through Twitter and Facebook of me getting back on the field and rooting for the Giants.
I apologize again for being gone for a while, I am definitely back now so hit me up on Facebook and Twitter.
Thank you and God Bless
A Submariner Underwater 9.11.01
I was in the Navy, underway towards decommissioning in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. It was an exciting day because we were getting off the boat...
We surfaced to allow some shipyard personnel to be ferried from our submarine to the shipyard. We were supposed to travel to a secured location and shut the reactor down in preparation to be towed to the shipyard to begin decommissioning. It wasn't until we surfaced that a shipmate of mine who was also getting off the boat at that time made a cell-phone call to his mother. She told him that the WTC had been hit by an airplane. My friend then turned to our Captain and relayed that information.
I was on watch in the the engine room during all of this. Another friend of mine came through the tunnel and told us that a plane hit the WTC. Honestly, at the time, I thought it must have been a massive mistake by a novice pilot in a small plane. We discussed a smaller incident until the Captain came over the boat's "announcement system" and explained that a commercial airliner had hit one of the WTC towers and then we were ordered back out to sea.
I remember it like it was yesterday when I made my way up to the galley, after my watch was over, and seeing grown men wiping tears from their eyes as they traveled aft. Nothing could have prepared us for what we saw being broadcast on the screen that we watched movies and ate popcorn in front of every night while underway. We walked into the room and were assaulted by the images of the second airplane aiming towards the towers. We saw the fires, we saw the panic on the streets of NYC, and we witnessed our friends with family in the WTC break down under the weight of not knowing if they were safe or not. Some would find a place to be alone and release their emotions. Others leaned upon the shoulder of a friend to find strength. We were already a close group of men but this turned us into true brothers.
We only had limited footage downloaded before we had to dive to safety...leaving the chaos on the surface...only to return to our all too familiar routines on-board an underway submarine. Except this time...we didn't know what the country that we volunteered to serve and protect was going to look like the next time we surfaced. We watched the same footage for the next three days.
We were given updates by our Captain. So, we were aware of the plane hitting the Pentagon. We knew a plane crashed in Pennsylvania. We knew that the towers fell. It wasn't until three days later when we docked in Bangor, WA that the crew was finally able to call their families and friends. Out of the 124 men on-board the USS Kamehameha not one lost anyone in the attacks.
I was moved to tears when my fiance told me how worried she had been because I hadn't called until the 15th. She told me how proud of me she was and I told her that I was in the safest place in the world at the time of the attacks...underwater. It was the rest of the country that was vulnerable. Everyone else in the country were true heroes in the eyes our crew.I still feel that way today.
To all those who lost someone...I never forgot and I never will. My prayers are with you daily.

Tiki's Failed Comeback
You can't always get what you want.
Herzlich didn't bat an eye the whole camp. Physically, he did everything you asked and more. I saw him improve literally week by week. He can play multiple positions. He's very smart. He does an outstanding job on special teams. He's told one time and he goes and does it.
Who will pick first in the 2012 NFL Draft?
DD thinks the Giants may be that team.
Oh, and on a much sillier note, Manning and Plaxico Burress did meet up to talk before Monday night's Giants-Jets matchup. They bumped into each other at the movies. Plaxico was coming out of "The Smurfs," but Brian Costello didn't report which movie Manning and Shaun O'Hara were there to see. Regardless, there can no longer be any question about Manning and Burress' relationship. I didn't see "The Smurfs," but based on my wife's reaction to it after seeing it with the kids, I have to believe Burress was in a pretty lousy mood when Manning found him.
WTF?!?
Knock On Wood With a Rabbits Foot
Superstitions...we usually do one of these at the beginning of the season due to the fact that football fans have some wild superstitions and rituals when it comes the team they love. I know that I have some random things that I must do or not do before or during a game or else bad things will happen. If I'm remembering correctly (that's a stretch) most of my pals on BBV are also one step away from clinical insanity when it comes to game day. So, I think it'll be fun to run this down again. I've also noticed a bunch of new faces that have joined the conversation and I would love to hear what they have going on.
That being said...I have some issues...
- Opposite of many, I'm sure, I can't wear Giants' colors on game day. I feel that if I did then Giants Stadium will implode right before my eyes. Which wouldn't be bad if the Jets were at home but I'm not risking it.
- The "man cave" is prepped on game day morning. The furniture and wall decor are the biggies. The room is arranged one way all week and only gets the "Giant Treatment" on game day. If I leave it or set it up early then Tiki Barber will come out of retirement...yup, that happened because of me. All the Giants memorabilia goes on the walls and the Giants' Nerf footballs are activated...3 of them. People do get hit.
- My "personal space" extends to the entire house during the game. I watch with friends unless it's a huge game - then I watch alone. Only a few personally selected people are allowed to enter the game day "Giants Zone" to make contact with me. My wife isn't one of those people...not even close.
- During the game...gotta clap 3 times before each snap on offense and 4 on defense.
Now, I have just recently developed a few new ones...
- When commenting or posting on BBV or other venue I have to capitalize any other teams' name properly (Cowboys not cowboys). I know it's crazy but I used to purposely leave them lower-cased as a sign of disrespect but after "the game that shall not be mentioned" I realized that my lower-cased disrespect kept Dodge's put from going out of bounds. I apologize for that.
- Newest one...While typing this up I realized that these posts about superstitions and game day rituals were done prior to the last two season and the team collapsed at the end of each of those. I am hoping that by writing this I'm not dooming the team before week 1...but I know those posts were ultimately the root cause of all the problems. I feel so guilty.

DEFENSIVE ENDS
Blue Chips
Julius Peppers, Bears
Dwight Freeney, Colts
Jared Allen, Vikings
Trent Cole, Eagles
Mario Williams, TexansRed Chips
John Abraham, Falcons
Justin Tuck, Giants
Justin Smith, 49ers
Will Smith, Saints
Robert Mathis, ColtsNotes
" This was a hard position to handle as some ends are playing linebacker, and some linebackers play end. All the players here are true ends playing with their hand on the ground on every down (Mario Williams may be standing up now, but based on last year his hand was down all the time).
" I left off Osi Umenyiora because these other players are better and can play both the run and pass.

I'm a fan of the "White Hurricane" myself...
Got home from Afghanistan today. I wanted to share this photo with y'all. I wasn't sure what jersey I wanted to get at first, but after considering what this picture would look like, thousands of miles away from my family, I knew it was the right choice. Damn it feels good to be home! Go Bills
