Calling all fellow AN'ers !   I'm working with a friend to put together a birthday gift for a long time A's fan & season ticket holder.  She will be celebrating  her 85th birthday in late March and her family is throwing a surprise party.  I need some pictures (in jpeg or gif format) so they can be scanned and or printed.  We plan on using the pictures to decopage.   Some of her favorite players are Chavez, Rickey, Miggy, Jason Giambi, Eckersley.   If any of you can direct me or send me some pictures, I would appreciate it.  You can respond with pics to this diary or send me an email to asgurl1 @ yahoo.com.   Thanks very much !

Gosh I would have loved to have been there. I haven't yet bought the book, but I will definitely buy it.  Maybe Blez was there getting a few interviews.

Mar. 23 - A's general manager Billy Beane has assured Eric Byrnes that he will not be traded, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
"Byrnes is a very valuable guy and an important fabric of this team,'' Beane told the newspaper. "We would have to be pretty impressed with what we got before we'd move Eric. In the same breath, because of the market we're in and our situation, we always have to be open-minded."

Beane recently called Byrnes to address trade rumors that engulfed the outfielder during the offseason and early in spring training.

"He gave me a strong feeling I would be with the team this year,'' said Byrnes. "It's nice to know. I don't think you can ever 100 percent guarantee anybody that they're going to stay here. If I were a GM in this game I think you'd be stupid to take anybody off the market. He definitely gave me a strong feeling that I would be playing with the A's this year."
