Answer: MLB wants to ensure Chicago makes the playoffs, guaranteeing huge TV ratings and ad revenue, and baseball is a rigged game like basketball (see Tim Donaghy, Pau Gasol trade, etc.)

Question: Would you package all of the A's expiring contract talent - Duke, Street, Embree, and maybe even Crosby and/or Ellis - if it meant that the A's could acquire arguably the best hitting prospect in the game - Colby Rasmus?
Answer: I would do this trade, or some slight variation of it, if I was running the Cards, but not if I was Billy Beane. This trade is lopsided in favor of the Cards.
