Similar to a previously posted link - but this one has a nice color-coded chart with all the VY+CJ games and stat lines comparing the past 3 QBs (kRusty doesn't count as a QB).

Locker can run, right? Maybe his "arrival" is brighter than we think...

Music City Miracles Fantasy - hitting up the waiver wire

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here with JustinS - I'm assuming you do Sit/Starts.
With that said, here are my thoughts on how you should attack the waiver wire this week in fantasy football.  Anyone who has played FF in the past knows that the waiver wire is EXTREMELY important to your team's success.  Each league has it's own settings, so be sure you take advantage of them (ex:  players are put on automatic waivers for a few days come noon Sunday; while other leagues there aren't waiver delays).  Something else to consider is your bench space.  Blah blah blah - you should know all of this already.  Hit the Jump for my opinions...

Music City Miracles RB gets $100 million sallary!

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/9/10/2416795/adrian-peterson-contract-minnesota-vikings

So AP gets a HUGE payday on top of his already big rookie deal.  The above link tells of $36 million guaranteed - topping CJ's deal by a cool $6 mil.  More comparisons after the jump

Music City Miracles Jags home opener to be blacked out...

...Or at least that is the current message being sent out.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/09/02/jags-need-to-sell-a-lot-of-tickets-to-avoid-week-one-blackout/

So here's my idea:  Let's help those poor guys out.  They won't be able to see their own team on opening weekend (and probably for the whole season).  So let's keep them up to date on what happens in the game!  I'm assuming they have game-day threads - so let's shine a little light over there.  I bet we could even tell them that Sunshine is starting and throwing TDs!  It's not on TV, so they may not know the difference.  ;)

Music City Miracles Thoughts on LA getting a team (AFC South advantages)

So we all know the talks about LA getting a team.  Rumors ranging about them building a new stadium combining with those franchises that are struggling.  The teams that come up most often include the Bills, Chargers, Jaguars and Vikings.

The Bills are already working on expanding their market (and may eventually completely move there) to Toronto.  The Vikings need a new stadium and them moving would totally screw up the geographic alignment of the NFC North (but would be fun symmetry as the Lakers originated in Minnesota, too), so I don't see them as a prime candidate.  The Chargers would be the easiest since they are already in California and their fans may be pissed, but could still go to games (I'm assuming the distance is somewhere between 2-3 hours driving).  Also, they were originally from LA back in the AFL days.  That leaves the Jags...

Music City Miracles New Law Leads to the End of MCM

For those missing a funny bone - this is a joke post.  Maybe.  It's more sad than funny, though.

http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-spokane/tennessee-law-bans-posting-internet-images-that-cause-emotional-distress

So the state of TN has decided to pass a law that makes "emotional distressing images" on the internet illegal.  Seeing KC starting for the Titans yet again will send many, many fans into a spiral of depression.  Hell, this whole season is going to do that.  Unless Jimmy and the gang have outstanding lawyers (or the gov. of TN wakes up), this will be the end of MCM.  It was a good run, guys!

Music City Miracles Ken O'who? Locker's tutor - a Bio

So our new franchise QB has his own tutor, a guy by the name of Ken O'Brien.  Okay.  But how impressed should we be about this guy?  Well, I hope this post can better enlighten us as to who he is in regards to football. Alumni_medium

Music City Miracles Logical Reasons as to why the Titans will suck this season

Yes, the team has talent.  But there is no amount of blind fan support that is going to make this team into a contender this year.  Why?  Because of the many reasons I give below.

Music City Miracles Greatest team QBs

Greatest Titan/Oiler Quarterbacks

Inspired from FO’s Walkthrough article:

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/walkthrough/2011/walkthrough-full-house

Based on statistics alone (according to PFR - http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/oti/career-passing.htm) the list looks like this:

1.  Warren Moon (HOF, perennial pro-bowler)

2.  Steve McNair (NFL MVP, Super Bowl appearance)

3.  George Blanda (2 AFL championships)

4.  Dan Pastorini (flak-jacket invented for him)

5.  Vince Young (pro-bowler)

Then there’s a whole list of stand-ins and retreads while either giving up on the current star or making room for the next franchise QB (sometimes both – McNair/Young).  Other’s that either had some success with us or elsewhere before/after a stint with the team include:

Ken Stabler, Kerry Collins, Chris Chandler, Neil O’Donnell (all have Super Bowl appearances), and Papa Manning.

Would you change the ordering of the above list?  If so, who do you move?

The list is MUCH shorter if you just use Titans QBs:

1. Steve McNair

2. Vince Young

3.  Kerry Collins (or do you switch 2 & 3?)

Billy Volek, Neil O’Donnell, Chris Simms, and Rusty Smith (suicide row here)

Music City Miracles Road to the Playoffs - other teams

We all know that getting into the playoffs in the AFC is brutal.  Here is a list of likely contending teams for the 6 spots, their remaining schedules and some notes I feel important.

Teams I consider out of the hunt:  Bills, Miami (we may have lost to them, but their team got destroyed through injuries), Bengals, Browns, and Broncos.  5 of the 16 teams in the AFC.  That leaves 11 battling for the 6 spots.

Jets and Patriots (both at 7-2) are likely to make it with their division and 1 of the 2 wildcards.  NE faces Indy while the Jets take on Houston - so both teams can help us out in the division.

Ratbirds and Steelers (both at 6-3) are strong and likely to take up the remaining wildcard.  (However, the Steelers did lose some key players on the DL and OL recently.  We can hope they start to drop more games.)  The Steelers' remaining schedule includes Oakland, Balt, Cinci, NYJ and the surprising Browns.  Carolina and the Bills will be speed bumps, but not much else.  Likewise, the Ravens have the Steelers (someone has to lose), Cinci, Browns, Superbowl champs NO, Houston, and the surprising Bucs.  Neither has an easy slate.  Whoever loses the head-to-head matchup is going to be fighting for the wildcard and could back out of the race completely.

The AFC west is getting convoluted.  The Chargers are the scariest to the Titans, and besides their divisional games, face Indy, SF and Cinci.  We want them to take down the Colts, yes, but I know I speak for many of us here in that we don't want them in the playoffs.  Oakland (we own the tie-breaker) takes on Jax and Indy along with their division and Pittsburgh (and a limping Miami).  KC is on a losing streak but has an easy slate of games to go with their divisional and us.  Many are predicting only one of these teams to make it to the playoffs.  We should root for the Chargers vs Indy and then for their opponents down the stretch to better our chances.

AFC South:  We have 5 of our 6 games to be played.  We need to take care of business there and not worry about the others (as if we win, we are knocking them down).  However, I will cover the Colts, as we will more than likely need them to lose at least one more of theirs to guarantee the division.  Their schedule:  NE (tough), SD (primetime - tough), Dallas (let's see how they are over the next few weeks; they are talented though), TEN, Jax (they already lost one to them), Raiders, and Titans.  The Colts are 6-3, but have already lost 2 division games.

If we have the same record and split the head-to-head games, we should get the spot IF (big if here) we take care of the other divisional games.

So while the loss to Miami hurts, the road Indy has isn't any easier.  But yes, as always, we need to do our part.

Music City Miracles Titans schedule week 7 on...

It appears that spirits are high after pummeling the Jags last night and winning in Dallas the week before.  And yes, this team does look good.  But all other things not considered, the team schedule looks a bit rough going forward.  And I'm not really considering the teams we are playing so much as the geography and time.

Music City Miracles Johnson to be highest paid at his position!

No, not CHRIS Johnson, but Andre Johnson of the Texans.

He outplayed his old contract (from wikipedia:  On March 3, 2007, the Texans signed Johnson to a six year extension; the deal is worth $60 million and includes $15 million in guarantees.) and team management upped the deal.  His new contract numbers are listed at ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/13653/andre-johnson-fortunate-texans-flexible

How do you think this compares to the Titans and CJ?  Both players are dominant at their positions and are key players to their teams.  AJ has more years under his belt, but both have put up big numbers throughout their careers.

Do you have a preference as to which route to take?   The "prove it again" Titans vs. the "you play like #1, you get paid like #1"?

I'm just happy CJ is in camp - but this will be an issue again within the year.  I hope he plays so well, that he gets a new contract DURING the season.

Music City Miracles Best Passing Game Ever

I can't believe there's not a word of this article mentioned on this site!!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3897093

Warren Moon, the best QB in the franchise's history has one of his most impressive games declared the best passing game in NFL history!

Why the lack of love?  Are we the Ravens all of  sudden and simply didn't exist prior to the name change?  Or is the move the cut off date?  Or the announcement of the move?  Jeff Fisher's coaching debut?

Music City Miracles Geographical CJ Question

This FanPost Poll is to perhaps shed some light on our argument/debate about CJ2K's contract dispute.

I have a theory that where you live may have some influence on where you stand on this issue.  Please vote before reading after the jump.

Poll
Assuming that you are a Titans fan, do you live in Tennessee or outside of it? Furthermore, in UP/DOWN (YES/NO, BLACK/WHITE, whichever) vote, where do you stand on the CJ "holdout"?
I live in Tennessee and I think CJ should honor his contract.

Music City Miracles Who to root for -- Week 16, and into 17

Two games left, obviously the Titans need to win both.  But this is how it breaks down the rest of the way.

The Titans only can go so far with tie-breakers... the first one:  head-to-head.  The second wild-card tie-breaker is conference record.  There is NO WAY the Titans win that against anyone. (Except maybe Houston as the season plays out.)

Who to root for in Week 16:

Ten v SD -- Ten (if this doesn't happen, don't worry about the weekend or the next)

Jax v NE -- NE (not too important)

Bal v Pit -- Bal (this game is tied to the Den/Phi game)

Den v Phi -- Phi (see above)

NYJ V Ind -- Ind (just to put the Jets out of their misery, and one less team for us to worry about)

Titans own the head-to-head vs Miami, so we aren't concerned with them winning out.

That leaves Pit, Balt, Den, NYJ, Hou, and Jax.

The key to the Titans making the playoffs is for either Balt or Den to stumble down the stretch (both would make things easier).  Balt plays vs Pit and Oak.  Den plays against Phi and KC.

After that, Pit, Jax, Hou and NYJ need to lose at least one each.  Pit plays Bal & Mia, so at least one loss is doable.  Jax plays NE & Cle... again, NE can win that game.  Houston is behind the Titans in the division, but need to lose at least one of their two games (both in-conference vs Mia & NE).  The Jets play Ind & Cin... either of which could put them down for the count.
